How did you feel about traveller's spheres healing the party completely?

Well, what was the difference between save points healing you and the Inn's in earlier games? Most times the save point was inside the Inn unless you were traveling on a big adventure and it was right before a boss battle or something of the sort. At those times I find it fair to have the Save point heal you. I mean...how're you supposed to know that there is a boss battle ahead and you needed to save your items? haha.

I think having the save spheres heal you is a great idea and in turn they can make harder enemies since you can constantly heal yourself.

I didn't find this to be a particularly big deal.

It's only a minor change in difficulty, and as others have said before, most Save Spheres were located in inns anyway. I would also argue that some of the bosses were plenty hard enough without the Save Spheres' healing abilities...all the healing does is prevent you from using a few items. No big deal there. :monster:

I didn't really notice until this thread hahaha

Although after just finishing IX again, I can say I do not like having to use tents!!! Its annoying.
I like how fast it was to heal in FFX, touch a sphere and you're all good, didn't have to waste any items and no tents to worry about... but I guess this does make it a bit easier and does make Inns redundant...

I actually didn't like the idea of the Save Spheres healing the party. Though it was convenient, it kind of made things a little easier. I like the old school FFs and the idea of resting at Inns or using Tents. But with recent FF games pretty much dismantling towns down to almost a bare minimum of exploration, we may never see them again.

I once read a Game Informer article where they advocated full restoration after every battle(Ailments,HP,MP)so that each individual battle in the game could be challenging,as opposed to dungeons being designed to merely whittle away at your resources gradually(FFXIII doesn't succeed in this because the battles are too easy).

I would say that FFX has a combination of these two designs;to some extent, you don't need to worry about surviving many battles in a row,but there are some areas, largely without save spheres, that are still like that.Although even then, you're given a few too many healing items.

The bottom line is,this game is as hard as it needs to be.The battles are all very fun, irrespective of its challenge.

And...

I agree. It was fun exploring towns;a bit like exploring towns in real life.

It was the most amazing thing they came up with for a Final Fantasy game, but it means it was less of a challenge, because, come on, they were everywhere. But it did cost less to heal, since it was free, and you can save at the same time. But it shows that you do not need a lot of potions or healing items to heal yourself(or tents, like in FF9) before you save.

I actually liked the idea. If I was in a particularly rough area, it was nice to not worry about so many battles in a row. Also, using MP would get in the way. If Lulu was out of MP- BAM- useless. I can't tell you haw awesome it was to have a nice ole' save point there for me.

I had nothing against it. I wouldn't say it made the game easier, though. It rather made the healing procedure much more convenient.

I think that with the change in making save spheres heal your party completely that it gave the developers more of a chance to make the battles more diffulcult without being overly impossible. I really think it is better this way. I hated having to spend TONS of money just to make sure my party kept healed in a dungeon or in multiple battles that lead up to a boss battle with no save for miles. =/.

Odd question, but I will bite:lew:

I found the save spheres to be too readily available and it made it to easy to play the game with out having too earn money for items and the threat of running out of HP and being wiped out.

Save Spheres are all they needed to be, plus they completely remeoved the need for the many and sundry inns around Spira, you have to ask if the owners of those inns are just thick tolet some git place an item in the Business that completely removes the need for there fucking business.

Idiots :hmph:

For FFX it's a good system, considering how much you had to grind in that game to beat any of the optional bosses.

I mean, if that Save Sphere wasn't outside of the Monster Arena in my version of FFX, I would have been so pissed. The Japanese version didn't have that Save Sphere there, so they had to run to the one in the Calm Lands and back.

i personally enjoyed the Save spheres healing your party completely, it was really useful considering how powerful the optional bosses are and how strong the random encounters are in the omega ruins, which without the right weapon and armour abilities can be next to impossible to defeat im think mainly about not having ribbon against the native malboro's) so it was useful just to chill near the save sphere while you levelled up a bit to get the option of healing without using items while your Grinding.

and even though i did love this about the save spheres, i prefered the ability to teleport to the Blitzball stadium for a few games of the oh so enjoyable Mini game

I really didn't like it cause it completely removed tents and the reason to even have inns and I really liked having them.

I didn't like the fact it healed your current party, yet alone everyone else in the group, it made the game feel way too easy in my opinion.

I liked it. It made grinding way easier because I didn't have to constantly run back to venders to buy tents or run back to inns to rest.

Its extremely helpful, especially for grinding and stuff. The road that you have to take, um, on Luca (?) would have been just terrible without it. Or maybe I'm speaking about another road :hmm: Well, its a road where the save point is either directly at the end or start of it, and its a massive sized road!

Anyway, I thought they were great. It forces you to use your items wisely and save your Gil wisely as well. FFX is probably in my top 5 of the hardest FF titles xD (only played it 5, completed thoroughly 2 lol)

The only downside to it is the removal of tents and inns... :(

I loved it.

I have no sentimental attachment to tents or inns so I suppose that part didn't bother me. It was simple and nice not have to waste all those potions, or pay the prices at the inn to heal up, and it made training so much easier.

Yeah, I loved it because it made things simpler for me, without making it easier. For example, on VII, I would battle, then go into a town, go to an inn, then go back out and battle if i need to grind. in X i can just go back to a save point, saving me a lot of time.

I appreciated it, I don't think it made things less difficult, it's just that every once in a while you got to be like "oh, I guess I needn't bother using my potions, there is a save sphere over there :)".

I liked them... because they helpeds you just before a boss or something.. i liked any game that heal you when save... it does get you out of a few sticky situations :wacky: and like others said,... you think 'yh no point using mp or something.. there a save point overthere
