Downloaded GIMP today and decided to use it. I played around with it for a while to learn what some of the shit is. After a while, I started piecing this together, knowing in the back of my mind that it sucked. Just to top off the suck, I added in a Latin phrase that's completely out of place just to cement it into sucktastical fantasia. :yay:

Anywho, I have 4 brush sets and about 50 someodd renders for more serious stuff, and I would like some pointers, and some CC from much more experienced people than myself. (Which would be just about everyone.)

Below is what I came up with after 10 minutes of dicking around with GIMP.

EDIT: Fuck me sideways, I didn't even know it was a fucking wallpaper. I was under the impression it was a small image. :ffs:

EDIT 2: It's not even a good wallpaper size. If fail came in bulk, I just ordered 10 fucking packages. :ffs:

wow imo its very good except too much red imo but the rest is pretty awesome man, I use gimp only for short year now maybe, but you aready show some skills...technically I have no idea about GFX but I know what looks good and what not.

Yeah, I agree with Ohri, the red around the bottom is a bit eyeraping, it needs maybe something else to fill it in, and the red mixed with the blue color of the text at the bottom makes it a little hard to read :hmmm: Overall it looks good though, my graphic skills with the GIMP are only as good as can be seen in my sigs I've had on here (not the current one, that only took me like 5 minutes), but I think you're off to a good start.

If you're new to GIMP, try playing with some of the filters too, if the same ones exist for non-Linux users as us Linux users, then there should be a lot of cool ones in there to play around with.

Didn't even think about how blue text on a red background would look to non-color blind people. :wacky: I agree with the red background thing. I would have used something else if I could find a great background image to use. I'm not a big fan of a single color background at all. I'll keep playing around with things, and see how it goes. Hopefully, I can manage to make something great one day. Until then, I'm bombarding you all with my shit GIMP skills. :griin:

It's not bad I suppose, but some kind of texture effect on the background might make it easier on the eyes.
