FINAL FANTASY XIII Soundtrack

:gasp: oh a women lol......Like I said I don't know much about Shimomura and I'm not anti-feminist.....all the music I've heard from her is whats been released in the versus XIII trailer and so far for me, its been good (might check her music out later anyway :hmmm:)....But talking of the dark element. I would be happy if it was her I'm super-excited about versus as its meant to be the darkest FF and FFXIII probably just dark :wacky:

So I'm not expecting the music in FFXIII-2 to be anywhere near the same as FFXIII, if she composes it......But it would be intresting if both Masashi and Shimomura composed the music.....Like Nobou Uematsu and Masashi Hamzau did for FFX and the music for that was a stunner!

They both did a great job on that soundtrack, but it seemed like nobody really knew that Masashi helped with that very much. I'm not hating on Uematsu, but I really think Masashi deserved much more.

To stay on topic, I don't really know what it's called, but I love the music that played when all the Summons where at that one place with Sazh and Vanille (I haven't played it in a while)

I think the song you're thinking of is called the Sunleth Waterscape, another one of the better songs in the game

I have to say that although i didn't care for a lot of the songs, the soundtrack was redeemed for me for two reasons.

1. Oerba's theme. This nearly made me cry. Just thinking about how Vanille/Fang are coming home for the first time since they took on their terrible focus, and now they find that everyone is dead. A ghost town. Walking around looking at all the abandoned things, especially in the school house, and listening to that depressing track just made me really feel the emotion behind the event.

2. Leona Lewis. Not because her song was good or anything, but SE used it in a very tasteful and artistic way. Along with the metaphorical significance of the hands thing with how Fang and Vanille are positioned at the end of the game, it really struck a chord lol.

Final Fantasy XIII has one of the best soundtracks in the series, I can say 83% of the tracks where awsome. Theirs only a few I didnt like. Will To Fight is my new favorite FF theme now (Im new here and dont know how to do spoiler tags so just ask if you want to know where the track plays cause it only plays twice in the game) Sabers Edge (Minor boss Battle), Desperate Struggle (Major Boss fight),The main Battle Theme,Serah's Theme, Dust to Dust (Oerba Village),Hymm of L;cie,Faultswarren Plains (I forgot the name :I),The Gapra White Wood,Prelude,Sulya Springs,Coccon De Chocobo (the ones on Cocoon), Snows Theme,The Vestige,To Hunt L'cie,Forever Fugitives, etc thats just a few of my favorites XIII has a great soundtrack and from the looks of it XIII -2 seems to have a good track as well with the battle theme and the lake bresha one.

Soundtrack was fine to me, not my favorite but overall it was decent.

I think half these people hatin on the soundtrack are only hatin cause they didnt like the game

In my opinion, the soundtrack was excellent. My favorite theme remains "Will to Fight", just because of the awesome moments it played in.

FF XII... not really so many memorable tracks. FF X had Enemy Attack. I like that one.

I believe the reason for the 'quirky' sound distortions added to these melodies is so that the song is played in tune with the overall theme of the game, which is time and space. Although, the tracks do sound a tad unusual as a result, I believe that was what the developers of the game intended. For example, in the 'New Bodhum', track, it starts off with a very chilled and soft melody, then it proceeds to some sound distortions, conveying the message that, although you're in this 'wonderful and magical world' you're also in a 'time warped' one, which is where the weird sound distortions remind us (the players/audience) that, that is the case. Additionally, the lyrics enhance this feeling of 'time distortion', "...close your eyes to find yourself, in mystic timeline [distortion]"
