Black Mage, White Mage, Red Mages and other mages ! What is your favorite ?
 
I have always preferred Black Mages because they are the offensive type of mage and ofcource Vivi was such a great Black Mage which is one of my favourite characters.
 
I like the appearance of Black Mages wayyyy better by far, but I use the Whaite Mage abilities more overall; so they're more useful and preferable to me.

For example, I used White Magic more in FFX and FFX-2, as well as in the Old School games of the series way more than I used the black magic. Just a personal battle strategy preference.
 
I be Getting with the Red Mages because you got basically the best of both worlds. You got your black magic and your white magic.
 
Well come to think of it, the first time I played through FFI, I chose a few Red Mages so that I could mix it up a bit and have both types of casters. However, I think the part I didn't like about that was that the spells weren't as powerful as they were for the individual class mages.
 
I'm not a fan of the hybrids, so that automatically boils it down to either Black or White Mage. Like Busta, I find value in the White Mages' usefulness in general combat. However, I'm a huge fan of being on the assault, so I'm going to go for Black Mage.

And if worst comes to worse, there's always those Drain and Osmose abilities. ;p
 
Actually white mages are probably used considerably more than black by anyone but black mages have cool appearances and are very offensive but i almost prefer playing it safe with white magic. Also white magic helped a hell of a lot in FF XII as i nearly always used dispel on the bosses to get rid of their hastes and stuff like that so maybe deep down i do prefer white magic to dark but anyway too late now i cast my vote
 
I am a huge black magic fan. Vivi is one of my favorite characters in Final Fantasy and I used him a lot. I always buy a ton of Ethers and use magic all of the time. If i get ganged up on I usually use meteor or ultima to make quick work of them.

Amen. Let's both drink to that. Vivi's a great Black Mage, and I really do prefer them than any of the others. White Mage is useful, yes, but not as much as Black Mage, in my opinion. Reason being that I level my characters really high, so they don't really receive as much damage from enemies. Therefore, there's really no need to use White Mages. And plus they're quite weak. =/

Black Mages do use MP, and their attacks usually aren't strong either, but atleast they're useful for dealing great damage towards enemies. White Mages just kinda stands there and heal. I'm more of an offensive type when it comes to battle strategy.
 
the black mages are really goood for destroying stuff lol
and the white mage are cool also but black mage take it
 
I love Red Mages, they are balanced. There is a risk that you can't learn the very best spells from each category but i like em. I do like the clothes too :) Anyone know where i can get some? Lol

They also have a good physical thing going, like using good swords. I think thats what seperates them from the others.

Could someone explain to me what a red mage is before I make my vote. =]
 
Booger..a red mage is someone who can cast white and black magic spells, as well as being competent with weapons - but cant use the ultimate spells / equipe the ultimate equipment.

I prefer black magic myself - although white magic is more neccessary - Black magic is damaging and shiney XD
 
Well in that case, I have to go with the white mage. =]
Spells like Haste, Barrier, Wall, and Slow can give you such an upper hand. ^_^
 
Black mages definently. Red mages are good for the beginning of the game but become a bit useless towards the end.

I like being destructive when you get higher level black magic. ;)

White mages come is second because they always save my party.
 
I wonder if it all balances out...
Youd think that the white mage would spend so much time casting barriers and stuff that the black mage would just kill them in all the time spent.
But then again...haste is very affective and the white mage can cast holy over and over again. ^_^
 
yeah but by the time you actually get holy the black Mages normally have their ultimate spells - Ultima, Flare, ETC long before then so its more practical to use a black mage for heavy damage ^_^
