In some games, haste and slow, and other status aliment attack are black magic.

In the PS version of VI at least, holy was black magic. Of course they called it pearl because of censorship issues which was really stupid. They probably fixed that for the GBA version.
 
Black mage for me since they are on the offensive side of things more so than the white mages. Although they do help and Holy is one of the more powerful spells in the game, black mages have more capacity for damage and I rarely ever use white magic other than cure (1,2,3):|
 
I like the Black Mages, because I am an a offense person, and want the other guy to die as quickly and painfully as possible, partly due to 8-Bit Theater. HADOKEN!
 
Blue mages are great, but what's the point of getting other monster's abilities?
Time mages are awesome though. :)
