Recently I've gotten interested in fighting games. I played a few simple ones like Tekken and Bloody Roar when I was a kid, and recently I've been getting into slightly more complex ones, and by slightly more complex, I mean the Touhou fighter games, which I got into after a friend recommended them to me a few months ago.

The complex button inputs and the differences between each character in games like these are what attracted me to fighters I suppose. In the really well done fighters I've seen, each character is different, and has a different playstyle, whereas in most RPGs, you're limited to your warrior/mage/archer archetypes.

Skullgirls and Persona 4: Ultimate Arena are next on my list after I get a PS3. Just wondering if anyone else here is into fighters.

I've been into fighting games since I was a kid.

Fighting games I frequently play are Street Fighter 4, SFxTekken, Mortal Kombat, Tekken 5, 6, and Dead or Alive 5 (When it comes out :P) and such.

I'm more of the hardcore fighter, and I plan to one day compete in some junior/novice fighting competitions, and move up from there.

When I'm not playing an RPG, or Shooter, I'm usually online, on any of said games, under a different account on my PS3.

Oh shooot this is my thread! Haha one of my very first gaming experiences was when I was just a wee six year old child. Haha, one of my much older cousins set me up in front of the Playstation and popped in the Tekken 3 disc. I was enamored. Obviously I was oblivious to the intricacy of the game mechanics at the time however it was amazing. Over time I developed that infamous hand-eye coordination that one achieves through endless hours of button mashing. Those fuckers fully converted me to nerddom and I blame them for that nerdy side of me to this day :rage:. But I've accepted it, haha.

Since then I've played: Tekken 3, Soul Calibur, Soul Calibur II (which I used to own but I gave it to my stepsister a few years ago out of the kindness of my soul), DoA 3, Soul Calibur III, and Soul Calibur IV. I'm an avid fighting game fan just for that. Also, sneakerpimp was into classic fighting games such as Street Fighter ... although I'm admittedly rusty at that one due to me not having played it as much as my older relatives. Still ... come see me in Soul Calibur III or Tekken. :mokken:

I play fighters in my space time..... my first fighter was tekken 3.... the dude who kicks man he was awesome (but they removed his easiest combo in tekken 6 :rage:) I tend to just play for fun.... as i'm not great at getting combo's out and I normally play in simple or stylish mode.... now days I play Tekken 6, Blazblue or Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 in my spare time...... I love playing Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 online with other people in my spare time... but i tend to avoid playing Blazblue online as most people just own me in like 2 seconds.... the next fighter that i'm planning on getting is Persona 4 Arena..... cuz persona awesome and it looks like a pretty good fighter from what I seen zoo far :)

I do not know why people are mentioning all of these famous or well known fighting games, there is only one definitive fighting game series. Blazblue has long been the greatest and most complex series ever made as a fighter. If you really want a complex well put together fighter with discrete characters try it. Penny arcade did a series of comics on them

I got Soul Caliber 5 on the ps3 the other night, and I got to say it a pretty dam good game :ohoho: can't wait to get online with people :cali:

the fighter games i play are:

Street fighter alpha 3.
Guilty gear accent core plus
Vanguard Princess
Melty Blood act Cadenza
Arcana Heart 2
Street fighter 3 (Anniversary Collection)

Im good at fighting games but they arent my Coup of tea, so i dont think im ready for a tournament of something except maybe Guilty Gear.

I dont like Tekken or Soul Calibur, most 3d Fighters are really boring, i guess i like my games with super thecnicks and such.

I've heard of Blazblue. A few of my friends sing its praises regularly. :lew: Unfortunately I don't have a PS3 or 360 to play it on, though I hope to get one one of these days.

From what I've seen, the Persona 4 fighter coming out on consoles this fall has a lot of the mechanics of Blazblue and then some. Astral Finishes, guard crushes, aerial throws, controlling a Persona for several attacks, blockstrings, and dipping below 35% HP enabling a new super and a faster super meter game. Should be interesting. I like my games with a touch of complexity.

I've always loved fighters. I've been playing them since I got mortal kombat on Sega MegaDrive when I was 3 or 4
My favourite fighting series is Tekken. I've got heaps of good memories playing it with my friends and with my dad. Tekken 3 is the best of the lot but I do find the newer ones a lot of fun too.
I also really love the Soul calibur games too and i am not sure if this actually counts as a fighting game but Super Smash Brothers is always a fun one.

Those are mainly my favs but I will literally play any fighting game quite happily though I struggle a lot with the street fighter games... why are the moves so god damn hard to pull off?? :rage:

Fighter games that I play are:

Soulcalibur IV and V
BlazBlue
Marvel vs. Capcom 2
Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3
Street Fighter 4
Street Fighter x Tekken
Skullgirls

I like Fighter games but I don't really play them that much often. But they are awesome!
