What do you guys think of the character other characters in FFXIII.................

From what I see this is a love story between Noctis and Stella,what's the point of having other characters if it's just a problem between two people?

The guy with the gun..............

The tough looking one...........

And the first ever playable FF character with glasses :awesome: .............

I know not s lot of info has been released,but because everyone seems to just go on about the love between Noctis and Stella.

What do you think these guys will be like? Different to other FF characters......

Well I would say.................that since they're taking............a "realistic" approach to the setting...........that they might make out these characters to be real-world-like...........as apposed to your abnormal Final Fantasy character in terms of.............personality, design, powers etc............

I'm sorry, but what's with the excessive ellipses?

But like you said you think it's a real-world like approach,so they might be different huh?

but I wasn't really wanting to find out about what these characters are like I wanted rather know what they'd have to input towards the story.

I mean after all it is a love story between Stella and Noctis...........

Not unless all the other characters fancy her too!lol
 
The whole game isnt just about love between the two. Stella may even prove to be an enemy...and its not like anyone would play a game with only 2 characters. Each character is necessary, you'll just have to wait for the game to see how
 
If Noctis and Stella were the only characters in the game then it wouldn’t be an action based RPG, it would be a relationship simulator.

I’m sure that there are other plot points in the game than the Noctis-Stella love affair, and if there aren’t then I can see that this game isn’t going to do very well.

The other characters will be there both to pull people away from the love story at times (to focus on other parts of the plot), but they will also act to make the game more like real life. While we may dream about the whole world turning into a bright bubble of bliss, our eyes blinded by our loved one, spending our time alone with said person and not caring about anything else, the reality is that if you skip through the streets you’re likely to trip over somebody else’s foot. There are other people in the planet. You will meet other people and they will have their own lives too, and occasionally their lives will cross with your own. This game really needs other characters for it to have a proper story, for the world to make sense, and for anything at all to happen.

As for what they will be like… I have no idea. I’m not too keen on the character designs myself (I prefer fantasy over reality, but I can see what they were going for, and I can see that it works well for that).

The other playable characters appear to be in a gang / faction of some sorts with Noctis. I’m sure that there will be some gang-related storyline which will eventually turn into something larger than that. I’m not sure really, I know next to nothing about the game.

I distinctly recall it being said Versus was going to focus on friendship in terms of relationships, so while it seems like the story's focus will be about the heartbreak between Stella and Noctis, I suspect his entourage will have a significant role in the story.

And just throwing it out there, we don't know for sure that Stella and Noctis are a couple. A highly, highly...HIGHLY likely conclusion they are, but they could just be really good friends xD

@Argor251 yes your right it may have more plots other than the love story.........but I think they'll just be there as a tag-along a bit like other final fantasy characters who just tag along for no paticular reason.

Agreed. We only assume that they may be an eventual couple because that's usually the likely scenario with two main characters such as this, and because of the Shakespearean essences of Hamlet thrown in.

I know next to little about Versus as well (damn you SE for providing us with so little since 2006), but I can safely say that each group of characters will probably bring something theme-wise to the table. Noctis's gang will touch upon the idea of companionship. It will be a good way to help bring out Noctis's personality, to see how different he is from his half-shy demeanour towards Stella. Stella of course, may represent the tragic relationship, as the pair of them are forced to battle each other.

As for the others - well, we have a middle aged guy in a black suit and a man in a white robe. Knowing very little about them, I can't really say what they will really bring to the plot, other than perhaps a sense of menace or evil. The man in white is certainly an interesting visual contrast to Noctis, probably symbolically as well.
 
I have to say that based on what I've seen, the characters seem pretty cool.

"Shotgun" I'm going to say is the youngest of the group and looks to possibly be the cheerful "Rikku" type..and he might possibly be the one cracking the jokes to keep whatever crappy situation they might get into a little more light-hearted.


Glasses is the chaffeur and looks to be the more mature type based on how he's dressed. I wonder what his weapon is going to be at times...because he needs one, besides possibly using Noct's car :awesome:

Scarface kindof creeps me out with his mullet and scar, but I also suspect a softer side to him somehow...and there's thought of the possibility of religion being in the game somewhere if he's wearing a rosary...

The white robed guy...before I looked closely at him I thought it was Stella! Noct obviously has a beef with him though, based on the way he's ready to face off with him. I can't wait to figure out who he is.

The guy at the head of the meeting table looks related to Noct, and I'd have to agree with the idea that it's his uncle. Their eyes are almost identical. So if he's still alive, I have to wonder why Noct is the one protecting the crystal and not him?

As to other characters...I think there will definately be another woman/girl, somewhere along the lines since there's usually always like 3 main girls in every FF...but I hope not. I like the idea of Noct and his friends and would personally like the game to focus just on them...and not cloud their story over with anymore complex characters and their probs. It seems like each of the guys in his group has a story to tell, and any more stories would just bog the plot down too much for me.
 
For some reason I can't help but think this game might be simaler to FFVII.........

Noctis=Cloud personality

the guy in a white cloak= might be the sephiroth kind of guy

Guys around the table=Remind me of the Shinra

along with the love twist of Noctis and Stella

I reckon there is more than just the love between Noctis and Stella...........what would 10 guys aroung a table in suit gotta do with their love?

oh yeah and hopefully the guy in glasses can use his glasses to kill people like in X-Men...............Cyclopes guy
 
I doubt it will be like VII...

I know all FF characters kind of have some Cliche thing going on that connects them but I don't think the characters will be EXACTLY the same. Haven't you read up on the game? The nations are all at war. Noctis' kingdom is the only one that still runs with the power of a crystal. The guys at the table are probably enemy nations. Even Stella comes from an enemy nation thus bringing in the Romeo and Juliet aspect...

but most FF's are about saving the world right? or preventing it from destruction............

So I can't see this being about just two kingdoms warring..........along with the love story................

but I didn't mean it gonna be like FFVII..........I meant most of their characters see to have some sort of connection to VII characters.

I think the guy in robes will have a major input towards the game though..............

Your first point is right. However, I really hope that Versus takes a brave step and lead a different direction of storytelling from what we have been used to in countless JRPGs. If Nomura and his team wants Versus to be dark and "realistic", I am open to the idea that it may not end peacefully and happily. If it involves widespread destruction as an ending, then I'm interested to see it. I was actually disappointed with how FFXIII itself turned out actually. At first I thought that game was treading on the "destroy the world" path well until a bit later.

And the kingdoms thing - well it's vague, but it's essentially about Noctis's kingdom at a cold war with neighbouring countries. No doubt that Stella's nation would also be willing to raise arms against Noctis's, and I can see a real potential in a Romeo and Juliet-style plot there. Instead of warring families, make it warring countries.
 
I guess it's up to the "power" of the crystal.......or whatever it does........

but the crystal obviosly seems to hold the fate of the world...........or something like that........

the romeo and juliet story may be just a little part of the game between the player (Noctis) and Stella...........up until the tragic ending........I think the other characters are there to just help him save the world and everything as they wouldn't really give a damn about the love of Noctis and Stella.

so I think there is just more than the love.............because if it was just a romeo and juliet thing there really isn't a point of the other characters being there.

But the crystal may be the main story here.........
