FF8 and FF9

Will they ever have a sequel,a remake,a prequel or something?
Personally,I would like a prequel of FF8 with the life in Balamb Garden or a sequel with the new adventures of the SeeDs.

I'd rather not...having sequels of any sort. Possibly a Prequel for FFVIII, but as for IX? Can't think of any reasonable ideas. No point in dragging a game on any longer then necessary.

Nah i hope not, i think 8 and 9 had such good endings that a sequel would really only spoil them. As for a prequel theres no way to work it into 9 and although imo itd be pretty cool to see a prequel with laguna and co. Its not really a neccesity at all. Yeah they should stay how they are.

I would LOVE to see one for FFIX only because I loved the look of the game and the more Fantasy aspect of it, if that makes sense. But I don't think it needs one, id be just as happy with a new original game with that more old school feel.

I don't think there's enough material in FFVIII or FFIX to even make a sequel, they don't need it anyway - the games pretty much wrapped up the story, and left little loose ends. Especially when compared to, oh, say...FFVII.

I don't think a prequel would be necessary either. With FFIX there's like...nothing significant that happened before the game - nothing you could base a prequel one. While with FFVIII what happens before the game is pretty much explained in the game.

Well, Laguna's story could be made into a Prequel, but it would be utterly pointless...

I hope not. The games were fine how they were as stand alone singles in the Franchise. I don't even know what a sequel to any of these games would consist of? I mean sure someone could get imaginative and come up with something, but it wouldn't be worth it.

I just can't think of what a sequel or prequel for either game would consist of. The idea of a prequel about Laguna is the only thing that comes to mind. But since the player actually played through some of his story first hand, I hardly think that concept is necessary nor will it be substantial enough for its own game.

Any sequel would just add pointless new material. If you look at FFVII and FFX, both games had endings which left people wondering, which therefore gave the developers material to produce a sequel from. Where as FFVIII and FFIX were both wrapped up very well in my opinion.

No. It is completely unnecessary.
It would just ruin both games, there is no need ruin them so that SE can have more dividends to pay its shareholders.

Agreed -- prequels for either would be a bit pointless. You could have a sequal to VIII, but would you really want it? It would just be the 'new adventures' of SeeD.
