Hi Guys,

I *Think* this belongs in here and I *think* this thread hasn't been done before so sorry if it is ;3;

What is your favourite Disney Princess Movie and why? Simples really :D

For me it is Aladdin, I love it so much, as a kid i watched in 7 times in the cinema an still watch it a lot today.

I think I love it for the hilarious characters, the artwork and Jafar ;) srsly!
The story is great and aladdin is relatable! (and hot)

Beauty and the Beast.

The songs are all great (Gaston has one of the best villain songs ever; one of the top three in my book along with Poor Unfortunate Souls and Hellfire) and (to me anyway) the movie always seemed to ride more on the interaction of the characters than it did each separate characters' monologues/personal developments.

Also; Title track ftw.


(That all said; Kudos also to The Princess and the Frog for a less-talked about breaking-of-stereotype in the Princess Movie sub-genre. Charlotte had the perfect setup and character to be the "evil stepsister" figure, and she ended up being one of the most entertaining supporting characters in a 2D Disney movie.)
 
I'm torn between Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast on this one :hmmm: Belle was the most relatable princess for me, but I loved the undersea setting for Little Mermaid, and lots of the songs. But I'd say they were both my favorite in certain ways :D

I loved both of these movies so much. I'm leaning more towards Beauty and the Beast because I absolutely loved Belle. It was just refreshing to see such a feminine character that wasn't stereotypical. She was brave and willing to go to great lengths to save her father. She was also not afraid to speak her mind yet she also had a delicate side. Wonderful character.

The rest of the characters in the movie were great as well. Gaston was a very well-written villain and even though his manners were repulsive, he still made you laugh. The bickering Lumiere and Cogsworth, the motherly Mrs. Potts and the Beast were all fantastic.

The Little Mermaid is a close second though and Aladdin is probably my 3rd. I really stopped watching Disney movies after The Lion King (aside from Pixar) because they just weren't as good anymore, imo.
 
It has to be Aladdin. Just love the music, the characters and the animation. It's all prefect. Also I have to agree with Aladdin being pretty relate-able, we all have that dream to just get away from our normal lifes and just dream of a better life. I thought that Jasmine was a bit of a snob though imo, she's always bossy to her Father and Aladdin. " WELL MAYBE I DON'T WANT TO BE A PRINCESS "/ runs off crying

It's like okay, right, there's no need to be so dramatic about it. Also the Genie, is a great, great Disney character. So funny. I know they don't count but I wish that they did, Hunchback of Notre Dame and Hercules. The music in HoND is AMAZING, and I love Herc, he reminds me alot of Cloud Strife.:grin:

But yeah, it has to be Aladdin.
 
This one is hard for me to choose because I love princess movies if I had to choose a top two it would be between Sleeping Beauty or Beauty and the Beast.

Sleeping Beauty is one of those dark movies that freaked me out as a kid. Also, Aurora wasn't really the main character as much as the three fairies. It it was nice to see older women as the main heros. (Philip would have never escaped from prison or defeated Maleficent with out their help) And Maleficent was by far the scariest and coolest villian.

I love the story of Beauth and the Beast. While Belle as pretty, I wouldn't call her gorgeous. Most princesses look like they could be supermodels but Belle looked more like an average person. And I loved her personality and how she fell in love with the beast. most people say this movie is an example of the Stockholm syndrom, but Belle did not even begin to like the beast until he stopped being an ass to. Also, I'd call her pretty brave to tell the beast no after he was screaming and pounding on her door demanding that she come down to dinner. XD

3rd and 4th place goes to Little Mermaid and Tangled.

A while back on another site there was a "Who do you think are the top five Disney Heroines?" The Fairies made #2 for me.

Ah me too. :gonk:

I adore both of these movies equally as much still to this day and can not make up my mind.

They're just such magical stories and I truly love how much each princess had such independence.

King Triton (Ariels father) really scared me in the Little Mermaid when he destroyed her little hideout with all of her human collectables. :sad3:

I love the villain Ursula. She was so scary too. >.<

The soundtrack is awesome too!

Beauty and the Beast felt much darker and I liked that about it. It felt more real and really made me cry at the end when I saw the beast regain his former body. >.<
 
The Little Mermaid was, is, and always will be my favorite Disney Princess movie. I think I was 8 or 10 when my dad took me to see it when it first came out in the theatres and I've loved it since then...it was my first Disney princess movie. Ariel to me isn't the typical disney princess because she gave up a lot for the guy she loved...thats not to say some of the other Disney girls didn't too, but I always related better to Ariel. She was graceful, quiet, and unconventially pretty for a disney princess with her red hair. Sebastian was awesome, Titan reminded me of my dad at times...and the songs were so so lovely. I still remember the lyrics from kiss the girl. Prince Eric was the perfect prince too...I loved his dark hair and blue eyes.
 
Aladdin - It had beautiful artwork, breathtaking music and excellent characters with a classic storyline. It is, by far, my favorite movie ever. I even have a painting on my bedroom wall from when I was a child of Aladdin & Jasmine flying through the night sky on the magic carpet. I came home from primary school and there was my mum, covered in all sorts, trying to finish it in time before I got there as a random surprise. xD

Best. Gift. Ever.

Another favorite of mine is Anastasia. :3
 
I would have to say Thumbelina--oh wait...Okay then, The Little Mermaid!

The Little Mermaid:

I absolutely love this movie, favorite Disney movie ever made. Its romantic, its funny, it has great animation, great characters (except Eric...I don't really like him) and a hilarious Crab.

Sebastian: My nerves are shot. This is a catastrophe! What would her father say? I'll tell you what her father'd say. He'd say he's gonna kill himself a crab, that's what her father'd say!

The songs are so good too, especially Kiss the Girl and Under the Sea. Its always been my favorite because of those reasons.

But I'm conflicted much like The Boulder was fighting Toph. The recent Tangled movie is amazing and has definitely been a favorite now, its even close to running over the others. But I suppose Tangled would be second xD

About the only disney films I know where the real story was awful for kids were: the Hunchback of Notre Dame and Hercules.

Poor Quasimodo! He had a terrific singing voice....:ryan:

Aladdin gets my vote - if for nothing else than Jafar's "pussycat" line. :mrgreen:

I was really talking about Aladdin's real story, it is beyond creepy and...creepy. But in the real story, (Major Disney movie real story spoilers!)
Ariel does not get a happy ending. Everything turns out really bad, she loses her voice and a lot more than that, Eric loves someone else, the Witch wins..its terrible. Oh and in Notre Dame, the real story, she dies and has been well, raped and Hunchback stays by her dead body until he dies. Oh and the guy she loves used her...

Well anyway, in the original story of The Little Mermaid...
She fails to make the Prince fall in love with her and turns into foam. :sad3:
