Ok I'm still on a Disney kick.

Disney may make family friendly films, but some of their villians are quite memorable and have pretty dark motives. Who are your favorite Disney villians?

Maleficant (sleeping beauty): She still gives me the creeps to this day. By far the most evil of all Disney villians. Her who motive for wanting to kill Aurora was that she wasn't invited to the birthday party.

When she captured prince Philip, instead of just killing him, she wanted to keep him alive and release him when he was 100 years old so he could finally be with his true love, who wouldn't have aged at all. And her dragon form was awesome and used to scare me when I was younger. She is also the only villian to "call upon the powers of hell."

Hades (Hercules): He wasn't really scary or seemed like a real villian, but he cracks me up. And I think he really made the film Hercules. I think Disney also thought he was pretty funny because in their cartoon House of Mouse, Hercules was often in the audience and had quite a few one liners.

Frollo (Hunchback of Notre Dame): I think what I like about him was that he thought he was a good christian despite everything he was doing. And he has one of the best villian songs ever. "Hellfire" He's one of those "Wow Disney went there villians." Unfortunantly, I haven't seen this movie in a long time so I can't comment too much on him.

Maleficent

Largely what you said. Powers of Hell, attitude, etc. Not to mention, she provided the inspiration for a Teen Titans villain (She turned into a black dragon with a purple underside, whose very presence turned the sky a sickly greenish-yellow color. Now go watch "Spellbound".)

Frollo

No powers. No weapons. He pretty much relied on his mere presence and authority to do what he wanted how he wanted. He could remove all resistance and will just by glaring at you.

You have just shat yourself.

Also has one of the greatest villain songs of all time.

Gaston

As the Nostalgia Critic said "Gaston wasn't really much of a villain. He was just the village jerk." He's right, really. Gaston didn't unhinge until the very end, and even at that point it wasn't some dark and evil desire to spread evil and bad things. He just wanted to get it on with the village's resident nerd girl.

Ursula

I can't say much here. There's just something about her voice and the way she speaks. It's classic villain without being worn out/tired. Besides, I kinda liked how everyone's part fish, and she throws that bit of extra weird in there by being part octopus.

Chernabog

Props for a truly epic finale for Fantasia, as well as introducing the concept of "WOMEN HAVE NIPPLES" to thousands of little boys and girls watching the movie and making parents wonder if what they were seeing was actually brought to you by the same guy that created Mickey Mouse.

Scar was one of my personal favourites. He's got it going on for him: the wit, the attitude, the plan to become king of Pride Rock. He had the fight in him and could even handle a young adult Simba. Even his villain song, Be Prepared, is amazing. Just his face when he was being vicious sometimes used to scare me when I was little, it kinda still does now.

I had one issue with Scar unfortunately; his kingship. His rise to power made him one of the most sinister villains ever. If "Long...live...the king..." doesn't send a chill down your spine, then you were asleep during that part of the movie.

It just seems that after he became king, all he really did was lounge around in a cave with an imprisoned Zazu and whine about lionesses not hunting or people saying "Mufasa". Even in the end; the guy who orchestrated his brother's murder, pushed his nephew into exile, and took over an entire territory in a matter of hours suffered a severe bout of mental deficiency and blamed it all on a pack of half-starved, easily pissed-off hyenas.

Maleficent is my favourite Disney villain, simply because she's evil... pretty much for the sake of being evil. Her motive for her whole crusade against Aurora is pretty pathetic, and I don't think it matters in the end. As a child, Maleficent was the only Disney villain who actually terrified me, since all the others seem to have some sort of humorous quality to them, or a redemptive quality that made them seem more human, both of which Maleficent lacked.

Plus, as Ali said, she was a Disney villain that called upon the "powers of Hell!" that makes her pretty damn cool. And also quite possibly the strongest villain in the series :lew:

Hades sucks my dick all the way. Funny guy, charismatic, fucks with peoples' minds and emotions, strives for his ambitions. A god.

He's Disney's Joker. Fuck yeah.

Amen to that!

I also like Jafar from Aladdin. I especially liked his Genie form. made him look pretty badass IMO.

Oh, and Shan Yu from Mulan. Man, did he have an evil grin! No magic powers what-so-ever, and an iron will to boot!

"He popped outta the snow..... LIKE DAISIES!" lol.

Masamune knows where it's at. Jafar is my shit. I never cared for Shan Yu, but you make me realize that he has the potential to be awesome as fuck. Scar is awesome too, let's not forget about Scar.

Too true! Although i reckon Oogie Boogie i also another fave, although he had an incredibly short role, his whole "spin" on his villanry made me laugh.

There aren't many good disney villians. The classics have the best villians by far.

One of my favourite Disney villains is The Horned King, from the Black Cauldron. He scared the absolute crap out of me when I was younger...not to mention he raises the dead and, for a Disney villain, he even looks quite sinister.

I'm also very fond of Chernabog. Just because Fantasia is awesome, and so are giant demons that raise spirits.

Jafar. He got a kiss from a pretend-possessed Jasmin, that lucky bastard. But I love him as a villain. He seems to make and go through with this plans without too many obstacles that would prevent them from happening (
he managed to possess Jasmin's father for some time, he had tricked Aladdin into going into the Cave of Wonders, he (almost) had Aladdin drowned, eventually he got the crown back, became Sultan for 30 minutes, and became a genie for 13 seconds
). I wish some of my friends had the brain to come up with mastermind plans like that. Aladdin's a movie I'll never get tired of .

That and I also like Shan Yu, for the fact that he doesn't need magic or the possession of hell to destroy anything. He had an army, and then when that was gone, he still continued fighting alone. I like villains that never quit [unless you take that literally and it seems they abuse that ability] .

Scar and Maleficent were the most sinister for me: their sophisticated, intelligent manners were more frightening than any growling, freaky-looking monster could ever be, IMHO. Because you could tell that they KNEW that they were being evil, and they had gone to great lengths to plan out their horrible schemes--to be conscious that you're doing something horrible for such a length of time is much worse than reacting emotionally to something instant by instant in a bad way--kind of like Gaston, as was mentioned: he only went crazy with rage when he got to the end at the castle, and his "evil scheme" didn't exactly take rocket science to plot out. (As can be derived from his song: "Lefou, I've been thinking." "A dangerous pastime!" "I know." :lew:) He was more of an emotional evil than a mastermind evil, and while it takes a genuine villain to be the latter, the former is something that I think we're all capable of in small increments from time to time.

Also, even though he wasn't particularly horrible on the evil scale, I also have to give props to Mozenrath from the Aladdin cartoon series :D He was always my favorite Aladdin character, and even though he only had about five episodes, I always wanted to see more of him; he was an interesting foil to Aladdin and the gang because he was so young, and he was quite intelligent, ambitious, and powerful for being such a young age as well.

Oh, and Madam Mim from Sword and the Stone was worthy of mention too, for being quite persistent and entertaining :D She was more funny than evil I thought, but she was quite good at both.
