Rumour – PS3 Fatal Frame in the works

The merest shred of evidence suggests a new Fatal Frame game for the PlayStation 3 is on the way. Be still, my beating heart.

According to The Silent Chief, Chinese gaming site TGBus.com has listed Fatal Frame in its upcoming PS3 titles list.

Series producer Keisuke Kikuchi reportedly told Famitsu earlier this year that his team were working on a new game in the series.

Fatal Frame, also known as Project Zero, is a survival horror series of four titles, which involves taking photographs and shrieking in terror at Japan’s terrifying traditional ghosties. The most recent entry was developed by Grasshopper Manufacture for the Wii, and has not seen release outside Japan. A remake of the PS2-era Fatal Frame 2 for Wii was expected to surface this year, but has gone silent.

Please let this rumor be true! I hope Nintendo's deal to keep Fatal Frame a Nintendo-exclusive has died. Don't get me wrong, I loved Fatal Frame IV, but the Wii controls were hard for me to get used to. >__<
I wonder if they switched platforms for the Fatal Frame II remake or if this is a brand new Fatal Frame game altogether?

Unfortunately, Tecmo-Koei announced that the rumor is not true.

Japanese publisher Tecmo Koei has poured cold water on a rumour that a Fatal Frame game is in development for the PlayStation 3.

The Silent Chief reported a list on Asian gaming website TGBUS.com that included Fatal Frame PS3, Fret Nice, NBA Unrivaled [sic] and Ninja Gaiden III.

"There is no truth to this," a Tecmo Koei spokesperson told Eurogamer this morning. "Looking at the titles on that list it looks pretty out of date."

The last game in the survival horror series, Fatal Frame IV: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse, launched in 2008 for the Wii.

The game is yet to be released in the West.

The Tormented is my favorite of the series. It deals with loss, grief and the emotional black hole that is the time between loss and acceptance. It's a subject close to me so yeah... It's also a really, really great game, appropriately spooky and creepy, the control's awesome and it's really worth playing.
