Euro 2008

So far none of the group winners have won. If Spain doesn't choke tomorrow, maybe my hopes will still be alive. O:<

But Russia v. Netherlands was such a great game though, in contrast to Croatia v. Turkey. There was much more offense and scoring in this one.
Too bad Hiddink looks like a traitor to the Dutch right now. :(

Today is the match between Italy and Spain, since I'm an Italy fan I want Italy won but Italy lacks some of the key players such as Totti and in the Defense Canavaro, it's going to be hard for them to win today. D:

i want Spain to beat Italy but then again i hope that Turkey keep winning, i would love to see them win thats if their still in, haven't been watching saw them beat Croatia though

Well, Yuna&THT's prediction has gone completely bonkers with Netherlands' elimination from the Euro 2008...

Looks like we're hoping that Espana will beat Italy tonight and meet with another strong team in Russia in the SF...

Btw, any1 watching tonight's match?

Well with Holland out now, I'm backing Germany to win it. Not that I particularly want to, but I can just see them going all the way. I was really impressed with how they played against Portugal, so shouldn't have a lot of trouble with Turkey.
I can't see Russia beating Spain on Thursday either, but they must be on a high after beating the Dutch, so it'll be an interesting game. Italy proved that all it takes is some good determination to stop Spain.

I'm predicting Germany and Russia to win their semi-finals. Germany just have to avoid any complacency against a Turkish team who don't know when they're beaten. But Turkey have so many injuries and suspensions I can't see them managing another win. Russia and Spain will be tight but I'll go for a narrow Russia victory.

I have to agree with Charliepanayi, however after seeing the match between Spain and Italy I doubt Spain would manage to win another match really, their performance was pretty dull actually.

Yeah my main concern is they struggled to break down a fairly below-par Italy side. But this tournament has shown how form can change dramatically and Russia could go the same way as Holland did I guess by following up a great performance with a poor one. But I think Guus Hiddink has the ability to get his team to the final.

Which is why as per the sig, we're going for Russia vs. Germany in the finals, with the former Soviet giants emerging victorious...

I really can't see Turkey giving the Germans a tough fight in tonight's SF, what with their severely decimated squad (even the 3rd goalie may have to be an outfield player!)... My prediction is a 2-0 win for Deutschland...

Well despite the equaliser for Germany, Turkey are giving them a very good game at the moment. They've been very impressive so far.

Unfortunately, the Turks saw their miracle run come to an end against Germany... Looks like my original prediction has come true, i.e. Germany entered the Euro 2008 final...

Now for Spain vs. Russia tonight... We're both hoping for a Russian win!

Spain schooled Russia, Since the turks went out yesterday night i want spain to win *insert maniacle laugh* they got this, if Germany play like they did against Turkey then they have lost before the game starts, bleeding germans got lucky in their game against Turkey, Turkey walked all over them

They might have been lucky, but they showed why Germany have reached so many major finals, they don't give up (and they still got three goals, so that's pretty good for a 'lucky' team). Germany showed they are capable of playing better against Portugal so they could well improve in the final.

If Germany play like they did against Turkey....yes they will lose. But if Spain play like they did against Sweden they'll probably lose. Sunday is a whole new game, and this tournament has shown how a team can be good one game, poor the next (Holland and Russia for instance)

Germany are just excellent because they have a consistency that other teams don't have, they don't have as great as team player-by-player as some of the other teams but you can't count them out on the big occasion.

And Spain are the complete opposite with the amount of times they've flopped at tournaments, they could very easily do it again on Sunday. Should be a good game either way.

Whoa whoa whoa, don't rush to conclusions. You can't just say that this or that team will win just like that. Despite the fact that I'm rooting for Spain, no one in their right minds would count the Germans out in a snap.

Germany has the height advantage, they have the historical advantage, and...they're pretty much at home what with their playing in Vienna.

Fabregas NEEDS to start on Sunday, I don't know why he doesn't start anyway he's an amazing player at such a young age. I only managed to catch the first half yesterday but by all accounts Torres and Fabregas were amazing. Albeit, it will be a big blow Villa won't be playing in the final. As for Russia, from what I saw were producing an under-par performance.

But as Z has pointed out, no one would rule Germany out...even though I want Spain to win.

Germans have the advantage however everything can happen in this Euro, as much as I want Spain to win against Germany I guess Germany might have them from what I saw in the last games they played.

Fabregas NEEDS to start on Sunday, I don't know why he doesn't start anyway he's an amazing player at such a young age.
He should have been in from the start, though apparently Fabregas and Xavi are the Spanish equivalent to Lampard and Gerrard, in that they can't be played in the same team. So credit to Aragones for being able to make that decision. Judging by last night though, it is more than possible for them both to pay well together.

As much as I don't want them to, I think Germany will win it. Overall, they're a much stronger team and can operate as a unit, whereas Spain tend to rely a little more on individual flair. It's a lot like Chelsea and Arsenal. =/

On paper Spain certainly look better, and they'll feel buoyed by their recent form. Germany have tended to be better when being the underdog in this tournament though so maybe there will be less pressure on them. But Ballack as their one truly world-class player will really have to lead the team.
And Jens Lehmann needs one game of no mistakes (poor Jens, I loved him at Arsenal, but it was sad to see his screw-ups against Turkey) XD
