Okay, Ive recently started using Ebay again and I remembered watching a report on it about 2 years ago claiming how people becam obessed with buying products from the online auction site.

One woman bought over several hundred pounds worth of clothing and she admitted in the itnerview she would probably not wear them all, it was the fact that she ownee them that amde her happy! Another said he loved using Ebay simply for the thrill of winning an item. I fall in with these 2, yes I have bought things that Ive not or rarely used and the trill and buzz you get when you win is increadible.

So is Ebay a good or bad thing? I guess it depends on the individual really, see how far they will go before they stop themselves. It can be easy to get carried away with the trill and impluse spending, but its great to locate an item you have been seraching for for some long.

Everything has an up side and a down side to it. Ebay is a perfect example of this, for it is a great source to look for those 'rare' things that you've been looking for, especially if it's something old school like any game for a console before the PS2 or XBox. And, even if you don't feel like bidding, you can even skim through the prices and pick the ones you like.

Of course, there are down sides to such a site as well. I've heard cases of thieves using Ebay to sell off some of their stolen goods. There are also those people who can't seem to quit buying and end up in debt.

One word: Evil

So, let me tell you a story....

I spent two months bidding on a set of golf clubs that I needed. I was top bidder for two months and I was so happy, but things took a turn for a worse. In the last 5 minutes of the auction, some guy out bid me and bought them. 5 minutes! All that work only to be out bid at the very end in the last 5 minutes. What the hell?!

Yea, eBay blows. I hate using it now. It's mostly because stuff like that happens frequently.

I suppose it could be a bad thing. I mean, there's ups and downs to it. You just have to decide whether it's really right for you or not. You have to know what you really want, and make sure you have no doubts about the items. If you doubt at all, don't buy it.

Actually, I recently just bought Death Note DVD's... Episode 1-28 for 45 bucks. When I bid on the item, I became the highest winner. As minutes went by, I kinda had this "I think I change my mind" feeling and suddenly wished someone would outbid me. Five minutes later, I got the item. Well, I suppose I felt relieved I won and yet still wishing I didn't...because I spent 45 bucks! >.<

I should be receiving the item today...if not, tomorrow...if not, I'll start freaking out.

it all depends on who's Using Ebay and who there buying off.

My friend basically buys everything she owes off ebay (its like a joke between us now) but she doesnt go OTT about it and its thanks to her that i got my FFVI advanced ^_^

But its a bad thing if people are just trying to get money off people - like when concert tickets sell out ive seen them seel at like £300 on ebay when you buy them for like £20 - thats the badside of Ebay

I love eBay. I can't tell ya how many things I've bought off eBay from Gamecube's to PS2's, to sports cards, to textbooks, sports jerseys, and sold my PS3, and only ever had a bad experience like...once?

You can find tons of stuff on there and then there's the stuff you can only find very rarely and when you do it's awesome. Love eBay.

Ive had one bad experince and I agree about the concert tickets, I hate people who sell them on 3 times more then they are worth. Its sick.

Ebay is a terrific site, and in no way can it be considered evil. It is nothing but a world wide trade market. You can usually find just about anything you'll ever need on Ebay. And, if someone can't handle themselves on it, then it's the user, and not the site, with the problem.

Calling Ebay evil because some people misuse it is approximately the equivalent to calling TV and Video games the cause of obesity. The cause isn't either one obviously as there are many thin and fit people who do both on a regular basis. The cause is the person who won't get off their lazy butt and eat right and exercise.

And as for what people charge on Ebay; it's very basic marketing skills and ideas. Supply and demand is one thing, but convenience and availability are another. Supply and demand can make prices rise just because only a few people have them, but for the convenience of having one place where you can find just about anything, prices go up even higher. Also, if people will pay it, how is that your fault? It would be foolish to sell something for less than someone else was eagerly willing to pay. *ahem* gas prices.

After all you if had two tickets to a sold out concert and you got them for, oh, say $50 a piece, and you didn't want them, and saw that other people were selling them for $1,500 on Ebay (and people were actually buying them), would you really put them up for $50 or less? Maybe you would, but you can't blame the guy like me, who would laugh all the way to the bank.

Off topic:

I'm not a terrific fan of using the word "evil" to describe objects anyways. The Ouija Board for example... do you think somewhere on the assembly line that makes these things they have a "evil injection station" where evil is stored in a large bin like candy filling and is injected into each game to ensure the proper amount of evil is out there? Or perhaps a dark magician has a job on the assembly line enchanting every game?

Although, I obviously understood what you meant.

I honestly love ebay. I've gotten things off there that I'd probably never get anywhere else at that cheap of a price.

And ebay itself isn't evil at all, it's just like anything else. It's the people that use it if they can't control themselves that are the 'evil' ones. It's just like an addiction, it's not ebay's or anyone elses fault if someone can't control their addiction.

Well, eBay itself isn't the problem, but more the people who use it. They're the ones abuse it and such. But if you ask me, if they couldn't bid on there, then they'd just probably go into town and buy on impulse so you can't win. If people run themselves into so much debt on there, then it's their own fault and they deserve what they get. Personally, I've never used it, in fact I think I've only ever been on it about 4 or 5 times in my life! It all comes down to the arguement; "If you're going to abuse it, don't use it"

I had good experinces with eBay, I never got ripped off or anything. Only positive stories from this dude.
