Yeah, well I began playing it for the first time (I know I'm a bit late  ) And I feel bad that I don't really like it. I really like the characters and Edna is cool :] Anyway, I'm on the second disc and it's also been short (so far). So I was wondering if disc 3/4 is more interesting/longer. I really mean no offence. Thanks in advance!

Disc 4... can either be sorta long or really short. Depends on how you do things in the final area of the game. It's basically just the area leading up to the final boss if I remember correctly. A lot of sidequests can be done on disc 3, such as a ton of optional GFs and more cards, I think, if you like the cards. There's a lot more places to be explored on disc 3 too, and you'll be coming across some pretty interesting (but fucking confusing) parts soon.

I found most of the game interesting, really, so I can't say if it'll get more interesting. :wacky: /FF8 fangirl

I don't really remember, but I think lots happens on Disc 3. I'm not sure why you wouldn't like it, since the storyline is VERY appealing. The only thing I disliked with a passion about this game was the junction/drawing and stuff. It could have been way easier than it was. If that's why you don't like it, I don't blame you. That's why I mostly paid attention the storyline and painfully used the weird systems. If this is your first Final Fantasy game, well... I'm not so sure you'd like the others. But give this game a chance, get to the end and then tell us what you think.

Well we have all different opinions so, don't feel bad if you don't like it xD. I mean, if you're already past (err almost) half way through the game chances are, you probably won't find disc three or four interesting. If I recall, disc three is broken into 17 parts. Well in the sense of missions/side-quest etc. And disc 4 has four parts. I really don't want to give too much away since this is your first time playing but, if you want to know more about the different parts of disc 3 and 4, i'd go to this website: (may contain spoilers! go at your own risk!)

There's also a website that I came across that may help you with Gf's card-games etc in disc 3/4? :D

^^ may have it in there, not sure but, you can also get items for upgraded weapons which, may be useful when you get closer to the end of the game.

I liked Final Fantasy 8 so, I hope you find it to be interesting x] I did. Just keep going through the game and maybe, you'll find it more interesting. My real advice is to play through it yourself.

Thanks for the links, DeadFantasy :) @ Gabe No, I don't like the junctioning etc., but I'm not new to FF. Can't you tell by my username :highfive: lol
@ .Rinoa, I'll give the game another try, since this is just the beginning, as you say.

Thanks, guys! :randompoke:

:hmmm:

You either think the dramatic love story and the majestic ebil doer is a good story or a boring one. And you seem to not be liking it

Play through the whole game, for sure. But, you'll probably not change your mind.

For what it's worth, from a FF8 hater, I could usually get through Disc 2 before I completely lost interest. As in, don't expect it to vastly improve. Disc 1 was, in my opinion, the best of the bunch, so if you haven't started to like it by then, you probably won't in the end. But hey, stranger things have happened, and I would encourage going as far as you can with the game before making a complete judgment.

you got further than me, I played about 3 hours of the first disk and just couldn't go on any further. I found it quite boring and i think if you're still bored by disk two then maybe the game isn't for you.

But I think if you can, chug away at it, then if you still hate it by the end you can say "well at least I played it all and can now legitimately hate it" :P

Well I say Disk 3 is really the best part. It's where things get interesting. You'll probably change your mind after a good thorough playthrough ^_^ Dont take advice from those who haven't finished the game :ahmed: lol jk...................not really :wacky:

Dont listen to the haters............they're like the Borg: they will Assimilate you:lew:

Id play FFVIII a number of time to truly appreciate the game, and read the Text segements for some more incite, FFVIII is very destiny based and if you dont believe in that kind off stuff it can lose its appeal.

IDK what game you played before this FFVII I would assume:lew:
But FFVIII is a more...........mature looking game, not saying that FFVII was not but in terms of gameplay and graphical content FFVIII is not as flashy.

If that evens bothers your?

Disc 2 is most definitely the shortest, but its one of the better "mission" parts of FFVIII the Missile base, releasing the garden, trabia, Okay the Flash back bits are a little.........blaze but the Garden Vs Garden battle is one of the better Battle in all of FF IMO.

Certainly better than that Bahamut Mega Fortress bullshit FFXII: and they call it Bahamut:rage:

Oh yeah Disc 3= Ragnanrok time buster, Best air ship in FF I reckons:ryan:

Ahh, not that brings back memories.....LOVED
The Galbadia vs Balamb garden battle

I ALWAYS looked forward to that part of the game. I'd always make sure my weapons were upgraded to the surrent weapons mag issue and have my spells at their max limit :3

I would stop playing. The game isn't your cup of tea. It's alright. Why torture yourself and keep playing ? When you could be spending time doing something, or playing a game that you'll rather enjoy ? CD 3 is kind of where the game heats up, and the storyline comes together and everything is at it's most exciting. But this is a opinion from a FF VIII lover. But from past experience of not liking other games, would suggest to close the lid of the FF VIII cover and maybe try a different Final Fantasy. All the Final Fantasies are kind of different and they kind of match different personalities and different flavors, and FF VIII just isn't designed to match your tastebuds. But there's always a different Final Fantasy to try. If you like FF VII, I would recommend trying FF IV or FF VI. :)

I agree with this, FF8 is focused more on the emotional aspects like fate, destiny, etc. I think you have to have a mature taste in these kind of games instead of just blazing through it otherwise you won't appreciate the true beauty. I say play the game again and get a feel of the story through disc 1 and 2, and enjoy the good action bits cos I have to admit come disc 3 the game does get kinda slow (still good but... slow) and disc 4 can be over really quickly if you just break through it. However disc 3 and 4 are the best times to level up, gain abilities and explore the world with the Ragnarok (which i agree is the best airship in FF :sup:)

To sum it all up nicely, FFVIII is more of a mature themed game, in the sense of graphics: there isn't much colour, in comparison to FFVII, and in terms of the storyline, it's more indepth of the characters past.

All in all though, I love VIII. Triple Triad is awesome, and to top it off it's actually fun levelling up and drawing magic (to a certain point, anyways.)

If you like Squall's emo personality and Rinoa being all "love-love" on him, aswell as well as a magic aquisition system that's entirely different from any of the other FF's, then this game is for you.

I don't find the game short... maybe it's so good at you want more... but totally not short.

Mod edit: could you please put a little more effort into your post? A one liner such as this can be deleted as spam, thanks.
