Does anybody else care about Dissidia?

I'm sure as heck looking forward to the release of Dissidia. It looks pretty awesome and just plain fun :D

Who else wants to see if it is any good?

I'm buying a PSP just for this game. It looks incredible and will finally end my debate if seeing who can kick Tidus's whiny little ass

It sounds like a great game, definitely, but it's not coming out for any console/system/handheld that I own or plan to own. I love the fact that a mass of different FF characters are going to be in the game, and some of the characters will be given a voice for the first time that we know of, but I just won't be able to play it, so I'm not getting much into it.

I have been thinking about this issue a lot lately.
This forum is undergoing a rocky patch. A large portion of staff left, and many of its active members have followed suit. The current staff are doing a grand job at keeping the forum active and going. This community is still strong, it is still my home etc. But it is inevitable that such a large number of people leaving will create a vacuum of inactivity in some parts of the forum. Discussion of Dissidia is one of the aspects that seems to have suffered most.

Why am I bringing all this up? I checked Square-Enix Forums (which I refuse to join; I'm a Final Fantasy fan, not a general SE fan) today again in light of the new trailer and found that people were generally a lot more active in Dissidia threads there than they are here. Even people that seem to still post on here, are posting more on the Dissidia threads over there (probably because they don't want to post the same thing twice) instead of posting on here... Now this preference for the other forum might just be them wanting to get their post count up on there and establish themselves.. But still, these Dissidia threads have at most 3 people discussing a lot of the time.

What this thread has discovered though is that people here DO like the concept of Dissidia, in general. And people ARE excited. They're just shy about it. If its because there isn't any more news, well then I'm afraid there is! Theres new news being released ALL the time... Now I know people don't want to discuss things 24/7... But a Final Fantasy Fighter on this scale is a MAJOR thing for FF fans... It is like the Olympics is for sport, only as if there was never an Olympics before now.
My mind and a few others (most notably Ruka at the moment) is buzzing with ideas on the game right now, but few people are on here.

I see that a new board has been made for Dissidia and I think that could turn out to be a good step. Perhaps more people will notice it, read about it, and participate in the threads.

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank the staff on the formation of a Dissidia board. Within a day of it being made Dissidia is once again a hot topic. Quite a lot of people are taking part in the discussions again and it seems everything is great. :D

I think it will be a great game. I'd like to see how things work out with all main heroes working together, same with the villains.

At first I though, "Oh boy, this is going to fail. They're going to screw up every aspect of it." But now I think it looks quite good.

The voice acting has improved as well, at least the Japanese voice actors have. The only voices I don't like are Kuja's and Kefka's, but oh well.

On another note, Bartz is as skinny as hell, he looks like a starved young Hercules, lol.

But yeah, I'm looking forward to this game! ^_^

I'm not going to bother getting my hopes up too much for it. It's a great idea with a lot of potential, but they'll probably be really over-elaborate about it and ruin it by trying to put in an epic storyline or a complicated system. If they make it a simple fighting game similar to Super Smash Bros. then I'll be happy.

I guess it will be somewhat like ssb

Sadly I don't have a psp, and i don't guess that they're going to make a version for any of the nintendo consoles (wii/ds), nor for pc...

And, ugh, Cloud of Darkness is female, just like my brother thought...

I'm very excited about it and seeing gameplay vids of the JP version when released. I don't even have a PSP, but its making me really want one. This and a few other games.

From the vids shown, I have high hopes for it to score a average of 8 or 9. Though now I'm more worried about the English DUB more than anything. Anyways, it just looks promising and exciting!

If it was for a real platform I might actually care. All I can think when I see screens from the game is "You know, I should really pick up Super Smash Brothers sometime". If the game was actually done on a console I might care. Still, whenever Square does these side-projects (like Dirge of Cerberus) they always turn out shoddy and unpolished. I have no doubt that Dissidia will have a clunky control scheme, poor graphics, and will be less fun to play than "just the tip" with Philip Seymour Hoffman.

Well only a page later I have to say that I've changed my opinion slightly. Thanks to Mercurial and his Dissidia videos, he's piqued my interest. I'm still absolutely sure I will never buy this game and I can't help but think that it will play poorly... but it sure does look pretty. I can't believe they wasted a game like this on the PSP... but it still manages to look great.
