I'm not going to bother getting my hopes up too much for it. It's a great idea with a lot of potential, but they'll probably be really over-elaborate about it and ruin it by trying to put in an epic storyline or a complicated system. If they make it a simple fighting game similar to Super Smash Bros. then I'll be happy.
If it was for a real platform I might actually care. All I can think when I see screens from the game is "You know, I should really pick up Super Smash Brothers sometime". If the game was actually done on a console I might care. Still, whenever Square does these side-projects (like Dirge of Cerberus) they always turn out shoddy and unpolished. I have no doubt that Dissidia will have a clunky control scheme, poor graphics, and will be less fun to play than "just the tip" with Philip Seymour Hoffman.
