Dirge of Cerberus DoC: is it worth the money?

If you can, stick with renting this one, or buy it second-hand. It's really not to everyone's taste. I myself enjoyed it but it's still not one of my favourite games. It's kinda short on gameplay which means you might resent paying full-price for it. Hope this helps ^^

It's rather cheap now so I don't see why not. It depends on what you like. It's a first person shooter game. I haven't yet found any enjoyment in playing it - it's been a loooong time since I last did - so I'd say I wasted my money. But if you like shooters, and can find it for about £10, go for it.

If it's cheap enough, then buy it. I've never completed it, and personally, I do not want to. What I have played, I haven't really enjoyed all that much. It's incredibly miserable and depressing.

I actually just bought this game the other day for 20 dollars (new). I've only played the Training mode, and so far so good. Mind you, shooting game isn't really my taste, but I have played a few shooter games like Parasite Eve and enjoyed it. I figured I'd try this one out too.

Like stated above, if it's cheap, it won't hurt ya'.

i would say the game is worth getting, yes its quite short and is not the same as other final fantasy games but it does have quite a good story line and some pretty amazing FMV scenes. some parts can be quite annoying but its a rather good game to play

Yeah... renting a game for $8 is utterly pointless in this day and age of used games... especially when they are so cheap... you can probably pick this one up for around $15 a your local Gamestop or EB Games... and I'd say its worth that much... its not worth the initial $50 pircetag it had, but its easily worth $15. And the great thing about buying used from places like Gamestop or EB GAems is that if you end up hating the game, you can get your money back if you take it back to them within 7 days (thus why renting games is pointless).

But yeah... worth the full original price? No.
Worth the used low bargain bin price? Yes!

Have you played it yet?

I bought DoC for £30 when it first came out - I don't honestly think it was worth that amount considering how much I disliked the game, but I guess it's good to have played it, and have it in my collection.

Yeah, I think the fact that it would be part of my Final Fantasy collection is a major factor as well. That's part of the reason as to why I bought it, even if I don't finish the game. I'll have no regret buying it at all.

If you are crazy about Vincent, then it's worth it.
I paid 39£ when it came out...may seem like a waste of money-I never finished it, but every self respecting fan should have it...I basically agree with Mitsuki's point.

I'm a prat and bought it full price when it came out, by the time I got round to completing it it had been reduced -_-

If you can get it for a tenner or so, go for it :monster:

I too bought it to complete my collection, Im such a closet fangirl :wacky:

I definitely think it's worth it. The story isn't the most gripping in the world but there was enough in it to make me reply it recently. It is quite an interesting story and is good to play for the nostalgia, if nothing else.

Nope.

1. It's more bullshit-ish plot holes for the FFVII compilation.

2. The battle system sucks cow anus.

3. Everything else about it sucks even worse, save maybe the story.

4. It's incredibly short.

So really, unless you just want to see Vincent tripping on acid and/or further complete your collection, it's really the only reason to buy it. The FMVs aren't even that great.

It eventually gets disgusting to look at Vincent being what could be known as 'the spikenator' when he's clearly not portrayed that way in the game's FMVs. It's pathetic, and it makes the game look really shit. God forbid SE spend more time making a better mesh for Vincent, even though they didn't make any other character look like something from shitty anime. D :

So I say no, it's not worth your money. Just rent it, beat it, send it back. Unless, as earlier stated, it's just to further complete your collection.

but Zack ...there is no price too great to pay to see the back of Vincent's head for 14 gameplay hours.
xD

Yeah, they made up lots of "new" stuff for the sake of having a bigger story.

It's really a great game and enjoyed it so I think it worth it, even so it was short unfortunately

I think the game is really worth it. If you like the FFVII world, it is a must. The gameplay can be criticized, but this is really the only things to criticize, and still, I enjoyed it. The story is great and it really add a lot to FFVII story.

I thought the game was good, but I don't think it's absolutely necessary to go and buy it. The storyline was interesting, but the gameplay wasn't all that great. I suggest going and watching it on youtube. That way, you can see what the game is like before wasting your money on a game you may or may not like.
