Youtube is completely different and in my opinion, not in a good way. To be honest, I think the change is completely unnecessary and all it's doing is lagging things up. I mean, some of the change, yes, is alright and useful, but we could still do without. I've had an account back when Youtube was poor quality and myslef as well as everyone I've talked to (who's also had an account since 05/06) think it was better back then.

I don't know. Anyone agree with me?

I'm sort of on the fence, to me Youtube was always heading that way before Google took over, but it's definitely become a lot stricter since Google took over mainly because of the whole court thing and companies suing them for copyright material. I honestly can't say I agree with it and should only be applied if someone's making a profit, for instance, Square Enix have started doing it and surely putting trailers and FMVs are only increasing their sales and advertising THEIR products for free >.>

It seems nonscence but there's nothing that can really be done about it, unfortunately.

Yeah, I think I hate the strict part of it the most. It's true, there really is nothing we can do about it. I don't think I can get used to it, but I'm still going to have to cope with it if I'm going to continue using the site..

I wasn't able to use Youtube before Google bought it because my internet was too slow, so I can't really compare it now to how it was back then. But I have noticed that it is a lot stricter with copyrighted material now than it was back when I first started using the site in 2007.

While it is annoying that I often can't find something because it has been removed from the site, I still enjoy visiting Youtube. So Google hasn't exactly ruined my Youtube experience so to speak.

I hate that crap about "This video is not available in your country" I mean, really, is there any need for stupid stuff like that? It's even more annoying because you'll find the exact same video further down the page and you can view it. I wouldn't be that bothered if you had your page set to international or something or couldn't see the videos that aren't available, but if I have my page set for the UK settings then wouldn't it make sense just to take the videos the UK can't see off their site? >.>

Like Larxene I am sitting on the fence over youtube now...

I like that when google took over we began seeing High Quality and HD options so people that have the ablity to make vids in HD can post them without youtube butchering the quality...but all the bullshit with copyrights is just pissing me off. The slogan of YouTube is "Broadcast Yourself" and if someone can't do that cause they are taking heat because of some music playing it is bullshit...I understand when it comes to TV shows or movies...but when they start blocking AMV's it is pisses me off. My last 2 AMV's that i made when uploaded to youtube blocked the music cause they were from WMG. What I dont get is how youtube and WMG don't look at it as free advertising. When someone views the vid they will know the song and band name and then if they like it maybe look into getting the album or buying the single on itunes.

Of late I've been getting really annoyed with YouTube.

At first I liked the whole new Widescreen HD setting available. I was really happy that I got to make my videos and the quality would remain just as good when I uploaded them.

But just recently I've been getting emails about how 'my videos may have content that is owned or licensed by UMG.' etc

No action is required on your part; however, if you're interested in learning how this affects your video, please visit the Content ID Matches section of your account for more information.
I checked it out and all it really does is make it so that more ads appear on the page where you actually view the video.

To be more specific, right above the right hand panel in which all your contact information is and just what you've written about the video and such.

Is it really necessary to be so damn strict on a free site?

I never understood that to be honest. Nor do I see the point of it. I think it's ridiculous, and yet another thing I hate about Youtube. I never used to hate YT but google fucked it up so bad I find, but then sometimes I'll think about what would happen if Google didn't buy it. Like it was mentioned earlier, it was heading that direction anyway. BUT at the same time things might have been a hell of a lot more fair/better.

Actually, there are a few ways to fix that.. but only for now. YT always finds out about that "new way" of people fixing it, and makes sure they don't "fall for it". I would know.. x_x

The playlist thing pisses me off on Youtube. Its pointless and just so damn random. So far I havent encountered the "This video is not avaliable in your country" yet. But Im sure I will in time.

yes they are D:

without music vids, the popularity is going down and we won't have any official vids to watch or convert from...

As long as I can find my favorite animes and other shows on there, I'm happy. ^^; I hate when they remove the videos due to copyright infringement, though. Also, there's a lot of morons on youtube, so I'm not exactly what you'd call a regular youtube member. I just go there when I need to look something up, so I guess I don't notice the change.

I just hate those people looking for confrontation and spamming video comments >.>
Anyways, weren't they trying to remove all the anime videos from Youtube? I'm not sure if that was just a rumour but I definitely remember when I was on FFS 2 year or so back that it was brought up about Youtube removing anime videos/episodes. Did anything become of that or is anything going to come of it? :wacky:

Actually, Youtube has every reason to be a top-notch website since they're owned by Google, I mean they should have plenty of cash to get the site real nice...and yet they're still buggy as hell. The "reply" function for comments hasn't functioned properly in over a year, and I'll get videos popping up in my subscriptions like they're brand new, only I viewed them 5 days ago.

The worst of course is the copyright crap...although I'm not sure if Google is entirely to blame for that. Youtube has started this new annoying shit with everything from music videos to video game walkthroughs where they'll disable the audio on the video because "it's copyrighted). Actually they did that to a GTA: San Andreas mission walkthrough...and the music was in the game ITSELF, so I don't know what the problem is.

Their high quality/high definition stuff pisses me off too. They should upload videos in high quality by default, other websites have been giving high quality videos for years. Any time I click on the high quality button, the video will go green and take a second to turn to high quality, and it goes right back to the beginning of the damn video. And that high definition option is just crap, I don't want the damn player taking up half the page.

That problem isn't even exclusive to youtube, I've seen it occur with Hulu and MTV too. It really is uncalled for though, I don't understand what the purpose of having region-restricted videos is.
