Dissidia New Revelation

Personally I couldn't care less about the FF12 characters being in, unless those characters were Balthier and someone else related to him or whatever (Cid, I think?).
Ashe might be alright, but I found her character boring. Could just be a personal preference, but I don't think there is anything jumping out about her. I don't like her character design, she isn't unique or anything.

Balthier on the other hand was relatively unique. He was a character. Witty comments, funny attitude, and good design too. If he was in it I'd think "Kool, that is a nice add".

If Ashe were in it I'd probably yawn and say "well at least the rest of the cast is fine".

So if they were to add FF12, I'd rather they pick the more interesting characters than the ones that may have been central to the story. Balthier isn't too far from central to the story anyway as he always refered to himself as "the leading man", and lets face it he was what made that game. In my opinion anyway.

Plus he's be a good fighter, different from the rest. A gunner. No swords, but a gun. Ashe would just use a sword or something and could turn out quite a boring fighter, even if they give her magic. If they have her as a sword weilder and magic summoner type person then they've essentially created another (albeit of worse design and character) Terra.

Impressed with the latest vid of Cloud VS Sephiroth. Also a nice little interaction with them running along the lifestream which I thought was kinda cool.

Oh snap! Original Omnishlash in better graphics! None of that 2.0 bullshit :D

I'm starting to think that the FF12 hero/villain will be the unlockable characters.... and as for the "13th world to be revealed" tagline... possibley as an unlockable for beating the storymode, we'll get some sort of information regarding FF13/Versus? Maybe...?

since it is a 20th anniversary project I doubt they would make this some game to get little teasers...
but yeah amybe XI and XII characters will be unlockable, and maybe an extra character from each game will be unlockable as well! (for example, Black Mage, Leonhart, Cid, Kain, Lenna, Locke, Zak, Rinoa, Vivi, Wakka, ???, Ashe (assuming Balthier gets in))

Ashelia is going to be great and ya vayne or gabranth for villian would be great. I really hope that cosmos is playable and so as chaos. I guess we will have to wait and find out.

GAH!
I can't wait to see a newly designed Gabranth!
(if there is one)

I.e a Gabranth that doesn't look the spitting image of Garland?:P

I like the horned knights, I really do... But they have enough already. They've done a good job to make the 3 already included, Garlz, Golby and Exy-cakes (to give them their old nick-names they no doubt recieved while being in high school) to look and act very different. But I think another horned knight might just be a step too far, a bit too much. But I'm sure they could get it to work, make him look different etc.

well sure they already have horned knights but Judges are a taad different I think

OHHHHH!

what if if they have Judge Cid from final fantasy tactics advance?
then maybe he could be riding a chocobo in battle!

think about it :D

NEW NEWS!

New scans show some new alternate costumes. One of Cloud's alternate costumes will be his Advent Children gear, and Sephiroth will have his topless look.

famitsu_1202_1.jpg

Also seen is some new screenshots of Shantotto, kicking Terra's ass with some sort of poison spell, as well as fighting and kicking other peoples asses...

Also.. Though it isn't the main feature, just look at the screenshot with Shanty and Ex-Death. It's the interdimensional rift castle. In the background I think you can see the forest section of the rift. :O Does that mean that you can travel to different parts of the rift? Probably not, but I think it's awesome that you can see them there.
It's either that, or some crazy ass spell Shantotto is casting.

famitsu_1202_2.jpg

Shows Ex-Death's Ex- Mode more clearly. His tree form.... I guess they had to tone it down a bit in order to let him be playable! But still, the reference is there.

EDIT - Look at the top right! Looks like you may be able to record and watch your battles?

famitsu_1202_3.jpg

OMG! :D It looks like Ultros is a summon! Judging from the character artwork of Ultros, under the headline "Summon". :D

Also shows Zidane and Kuja trance forms as their Ex-Mode.

LOL AT ULTROS SUMMON. THAT IS EPIC.

Can't get over Terra's redeign. She looks stunning. It's just so great seeing some of my favourite characters together, interacting in the same scene (in reference to the pic of Cloud and Terra in the second image). The Cloud/Sephiroth alternate costumes were kind of obvious, I think. I'm thinking the Kingdom Hearts look will probably be another alternate for them, and Squall. Lol for the wings coming out of Seph's butt in KH2.

Yeah, Terra has her esper form. It is seen on the latest trailer (TGS 2008).
I'm liking the design of Terra too. Though that isn't the new thing revealed by these scans!

you know looking at the sprite of Bartz (as a Mimic), Amano and Nomuras designs I think he was destined to be a Mimic!
still I can't wait to play the game as Bartz!!

Bartz will definitly be one of the more interesting characters to play as considering he can mimic other players' moves.

Only 2 more weeks until the Japanese release date! :D

so hows the psp store download thing gonna work?
do we pay with japanese money?

This looks awesome. I'm considering getting a PSP even more now....Crisis Core was and still is SO tempting...but now this game too?
The video of Cloud - v- Sephiroth is great, and these character designs look excellent!

Exburst explanations;

- Warrior of Light slashes through his opponents like a "Dazzling Flash". Six Slashes, each needing a D-Button press.

- Garland changes the form of his sword for his EX Mode. You need to Mash Circle for it to work.

- Yes, after Firion slashes the opponent with his sword, spear, axe, dagger, and bare hands, he will launch all of his weapons from his bow as a final strike. How awesome is that? The command is similar to Auron's Bushido: 5 Buttons you have to press as quickly as possible.

- The Emperor will literally dominate you and then blow you up with his EX Burst. You need to press the button that's flashing on the screen to execute his EX burst, and you need to do it five times.

- We all know Onion Knight's specials. Just make sure you select Shuriken and Holy really fast.

- Cloud of Darkness fires her Particle Cannon a la Shiva from FFVIII and FFX. You need to hold the Circle Button down until the meter reaches 120%.

- Cecil's Double Phase starts with Paladin slashes, then he uses the original FFIV version of Darkside from Dark Knight mode, and then finishes off with a cross-shaped slash in Paladin mode. It looks like for him, you need to press both a D-Button and a Face Button at the same time for three commands, and it's up how fast you can input.

- Golbez first makes his Shadow Dragon attacks, and then he finished the opponent with Double Meteo. His input style is similar to Cecil, but it seems to be based on timing instead of speed (you have to press the buttons as they pass by, a la DDR or Renzokuken)

- Bartz attacks four times, each time with two different swords equipped (the first is Buster Sword + Brotherhood), and ends by combining all Eight Swords into his own for Brave Blade (I'm assuming it's all swords except Terra's and his own). You need to input two D-Buttons every time he attacks with a two-sword slash.

- Exdeath will imprison his opponent in a super gravity field, shrink them, and crush them in his hands. Hold Circle until the bar goes down to 0 for his EX burst.

- Terra transforms into her Esper Mode, and attacks with Riot Sword, her signature attack. You need to tap both a D-Button AND a Face Button very quickly in order to build up the bar. And as with the other EX Bursts, the faster you build it up, the stronger it gets.

- Kefka's EX burst is now rightly named Light of Judgment, and it's where he uses the power of the Warring Triad to smite enemies down with his powerful Light Cannon. You will need to memorize three D-Button commands given to you by the three symbols, and input them as quickly and accurately as possible.

- Cloud's Super Ultimate War God Supreme Decapitation is similar to the FFVII version, and I think it needs no explanation. You mash the circle button as fast as you can to break the Limit Gauge.

- Sephiroth's Supernova has been toned down from its ridiculous cutscene in FFVII, but he makes up for it by throwing his opponent straight into the Supernova. Like Cloud, mash the Circle Button quickly to break the Limit Gauge.

- Squall's Renzokuken is largely unchanged from FFVIII, with the exception that Lion Heart is now limited to the last blow (so Cloud gets the entire Omnislash put in, but Squall doesn't?). You need to time the pressing of the R Button right to cause the damage to be 100% Critical.

- Ultimecia's Time Compression fires multiple magic arrows onto the opponent, and she finishes the opponent off with Apocalypse, only here it's called End of Memories. The attack is similar to Squall's (toned-down) Renzokuken, although you press Circle instead of R to fire.

- Zidane's Reverse Gaia, as shown in the tutorial, is a series of quick, relentless slashes. You need to mash circle to fill up the four bars and make the finisher hit a lot of times.

- Kuja's Last Requiem works in the same principle as Zidane's Reverse Gaia, only instead of slashing the opponent, he prefers to rain down Ultima on them. Mahsing Circle will also make the Finale very strong.

- Tidus' Blitz Ace remains largely unchanged from the original. You still have to line up the arrow in the middle, and the less time you consume, the bigger the damage will be.

- Jecht's Blitz King is beyond epic; after slashing the opponent, Jecht Shots a gigantic boulder into the opponent before destroyed the boulder with a JEKUTOOOOOO FINGAAAAAAAAAA, causing the boulder to both hit the opponent AND shower him/her with debris. You need to do a Blitz Ace timing maneuver for both the Jecht Shot AND the JEKUTOOOO FINGAAAAA.

Say thanks from me to your friend and his god-like powers to find detailed descriptions of the characters Ex-Bursts. :D

Jecht's one sounds fantastic.. I mean Jecht Shooting a giant boulder?! As the giant lion monster aeon?! Can't wait for Jecht. My favourite FFX character, and he just seems awesome in this game.

Firion's seems very epic... Firing the weapons out of a bow? I'd LOVE to see how that happens, and I am realy glad they are making use of all the weapons like this... Every little helps to make Firion more unique and play different from other characters who could have turned out similar in style to him.... So I appreciate what Square-Enix is doing in making them all unique in this way.

Bartz' attack sounds just as epic as I expected.... But Ex-Death's? Wow! Void-trapping the enemy, and then squashing them in his hand? Priceless. Can't wait to do that to Sephiroth :D.
