The ultimate Final Fantasy fighting experience gets dated. Voice actors confirmed.

Square Enix's portable Final Fantasy fan-service fighting sequel finally has a date, and it's in the not too distant future. DISSIDIA 012[duodecim] FINAL FANTASY will be available for the PSP on March 22nd, 2011, we assume only on UMD at first.

Square Enix has also confirmed a number of familiar Final Fantasy voice actors will be reprising their roles in DISSIDIA 012[duodecim].

More info below.

Square Enix, Inc., the publisher of SQUARE ENIX interactive entertainment products in North America, announced today that DISSIDIA 012[duodecim] FINAL FANTASY will ship to North American retailers on March 22, 2011. A follow-up to the popular DISSIDIA FINAL FANTASY, this installment brings together some of the most memorable characters in video games, exclusively to the PSP (PlayStation Portable) system. As the ultimate FINAL FANTASY fighting experience, all of the characters from DISSIDIA FINAL FANTASY return in DISSIDIA 012[duodecim], to deliver character matchups that fans have always dreamed of. Newly joining the battle between Cosmos and Chaos are Lightning, Kain and Tifa, each with completely new abilities and customization options for a more strategic combat system. The unique gameplay, which combines action-packed fighting and RPG-based character development, is enhanced with a command-based mode so that true FINAL FANTASY-style combat can be enjoyed through simple commands.

Additionally, a star-studded cast lends their voices to iconic FINAL FANTASY characters. Actors featured in DISSIDIA 012[duodecim] include Rachael Leigh Cook as Tifa, Keith David as Chaos, Steve Burton as Cloud Strife and George Newbern as Sephiroth. Ali Hillis reprises her role as Lightning from this year's FINAL FANTASY XIII, and numerous past voice actors have also returned to once again bring their characters to life.

DISSIDIA 012[duodecim] FINAL FANTASY also offers a robust multiplayer mode that includes communication functions as well as group battles in which players can form parties and compete with their friends. With new game modes, story missions, items, alternate costumes and battle mechanics, DISSIDIA 012[duodecim] FINAL FANTASY raises the thrill and action of never-before-seen FINAL FANTASY matchups to new heights.

I think we all knew characters that had VAs in other games would be used again in Dissidia, but I'm glad Lightning has the same VA. I loved they way she portrayed Lightning so much ♥

I liked Kain's VA in FFIV DS, so I could see him doing it again Duodecim (and a bigger plus since the PSP has better sound than the DS).

TUNA for the win! :rage: that picture is SO adorable! :ryan: and those renders are ah-mazing. Thanks for sharing Channi. Just wondering... is the picture of Tidus and Yuna official? :8F:

I can't say for certain. :hmmm: It combines the two portrait shots on the D2 website from their profiles, but it's shooped pretty good, and it's simply and not overly drawn out like a sig. So I waannnnaaa saaay yes?

I just realized Tidus still has one more Alt to be revealed. I'm really holding out hope for Shuyin on this one. :ryan:

8(

What makes you think he still has one more? :hmmm: but if he does, I hope it's Shuyin too :8F: that'd be awesome. He was always really really cool.

Well there's regular Tidus and then there's Amano Tidus. Most of everybody else has 2 alts, some even 3 (where one's DLC). I merely assume that there's one more to be released.

Maybe it's him being topless is the other alt, or is that the amano alt? :hmmm:

But if there's one more, I'd also prefer a Shuyin-look over colour swap or something :/

And lol, tuna :8F:

Amano Tidus is the shirtless one. I'm really hoping for a Shuyin alt.. even if DLC. I'll buy anything to see my hubby in high res graphics. :gonk:

About three weeks after Dissidia 012[duodecim]: Final Fantasy launches in Japan, we’ll get a chance to play it in English. Square Enix set March 22 as the release date for Dissidia 012[duodecim]: Final Fantasy in North America.

All of the characters from Dissidia: Final Fantasy return for the prequel plus: Kain Highwind, Lightning, Yuna, Laguna Loire, Vaan, Prishe, and Gilgamesh. Rachael Leigh Cook reprises her role as Tifa in the English version of the game. Ali Hillis is back to voice Lightning too.

Dissidia 012[duodecim]: Final Fantasy also costs less than Dissidia: Final Fantasy. Square Enix plans to sell it for $29.99 instead of the usual $39.99. Not bad considering Dissidia 012[duodecim]: Final Fantasy includes the storyline from the original game too.

Every character, new and returning, have at least three looks in Dissidia 012[duodecim]: Final Fantasy. Lightning’s third form is based on a soldier design from Nao Ikeda who created character art for Final Fantasy XIIIMana series titles such as Children of Mana.
and later

Although it’s been leaked, Square Enix isn’t quite ready to reveal Yuna’s third form. Instead, they released screenshots of her another form, which is based on artwork from Yoshitaka Amano.

While the picture below is also based on Amano’s artwork, it is not Tifa’s third form. All first run copies of Dissidia 012[duodecim]: Final Fantasy in Japan come with a code to download this outfit from the PlayStation Store.

Third forms for returning characters follow (you may have seen some of these before!)

Final Fantasy: Warrior of Light / Garland

Final Fantasy III: Onion Knight / Cloud of Darkness

Final Fantasy IV: Cecil / Golbez
Cecil is based off his appearance in Final Fantasy IV DS while Golbez is dressed in his Final Fantasy IV: The After Years outfit.

Final Fantasy VI: Terra / Kefka

Final Fantasy VII: Cloud / Sephiroth

Final Fantasy VIII: Squall / Ultimecia

Final Fantasy IX: Zidane / Kuja
Zidane is dressed as a soldier from Alexandria castle. Kuja’s dark colors are supposed to make him like a god of death.

Final Fantasy X: Tidus / Jecht
Topless Tidus is based on Amano’s original design. Jecht is in a blitzball outfit.

Final Fantasy XII: Gabranth
His third form turns him into Basch.

Also here are some translated information that I gathered from a dissidia forum:

It seems like Tidus lost his memory and cannot recognize Yuna, but Yuna remember Tidus. Yuna says something like "You promised to protect me, you have said so" in one of the pic. Tidus says something like "My fight, is none of your business" in another pic.

Yuna has 5 Summons, Valefor, Ixion, Ifrit, Shiva, Bahamut. Thier special attacks in FFX become Brv attacks here, and their overdrives become HP attacks.

Yuna concept: Summon Master
-Summon appears during attack. Only part of the body appears because they are too large.
-She has standard attacks and is the easiest to use among all the new characters, recommand to new players. Unlike other characters, all her attacks (hit box) are from the summons. For most attacks, the summon will appear in front of Yuna, moving her a little bit forward/backward. Knowing the distance is one of the thing to master Yuna.
-Have attacks cover all distances, best at close to mid range, Ifrit for close, Valefor for far.
-Has double summon in EX mode. Without changing her input command, er attacks in EX mode will have another summon come out automatically, for additional follow up + damage, also covers larger area, and covers her during cooldown.

This one just explains the Assist system, which have been discussed alot in the demo thread

Also shows the Zidane Kuja and Lightning's 3rd form.

Mod Edit: I removed the images from this post and replaced them with links, because for me at least, when I loaded this thread, they stretched the page something awful due to the large sizes. Sorry if this is inconvenient for anyone. ^^

I have no idea if anyones posted this, but I'll share the links anyway. New themes for Duodecim uploaded on youtube so far:

FFI - Chaos Shrine: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SjFt4h5CJjc

FFIII - Battle 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=THsnwdDrvyo

FFIV - Battle 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rPKbSJ15cZc&

FFV - Neo-ExDeath: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9e6hurDCpnI

FFVI - Battle theme: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=plnPdViPgpA

FFVII - J-E-N-O-V-A: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2tcg_SwqDQo

FFVIII - Force Your Way: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Io9Nh52E7hA

FFIX - Grand Cross: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cmf7VqnmYp8

FFX - Summoned Beast Battle: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NAvXMJfzZEI

FFXII - Esper Battle: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSW6IcACa6g

FFXIII - Blinded By Light: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8MVS27Ff7Uc
Saber's Edge: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=74qesh3bTSA

Jenova and Summoned Beast Battle were quite a let down, imo, but still, I suppose it's so when we replay the games, it's so the epicness of that moment when we do the battles that play the themes don't lose the epicness.

And FFIV's Battle 1 was like, so epic, they really outdone themselves there.

I like all the renders that were posted... Makes me excited about Tidus' and Yuna's story. I really can't wait for this game, lol. I just want to know what it will be about...

Gilgamesh's EX Burst is to do with picking the right sword, Excalipoor is his failure Dx
His EX Mode has the Secret Sword: Block in All Directions bonus, where he uses his 8 arms to block
He can wield every weapon he has at once
"it will be fun to activate it as we don't know what can happen" o-o...

Prishe's EX Burst is to do with chaining 5 skills
Her EX Bonuses allow her to chain 3 weapon skills
She has increased evasion
And can throw pebbles xD

Gilgamesh
"Secret Sword : Block in all directions" : use his 8 arms to wield his weapons. Unknown but funny effect (aka random?)

Prishe
"Hundred Fists" : can now chain 3 Weapon Skills. Also increase evasion

Desperado Chaos
"God's Pride" : Speed Up
"??? Violence" : Strength Up + Defense Up

Yuna
"Double Summon" : Can summon 2 Aeons at the same time

The FFVI battle theme sounds nice and all...but why the remix? It was awesome the original way T.T

I like that they included my favorite FF12 song :D Oh snap, now I gotta play FF12 again! That song always does the trick! lol

(When I heard about the soundtracks, they didn't have the music ripped...)
