So the next Deus Ex game is going be on what consoles? Is it going to stay on PS3 and Xbox 360? Was it going to PS4 and XboxOne? was it going to be on Nintendo's Wii-U? How about PC? actually all answers are wrong. Deus Ex: The Fall is going be on smartphones and tablets.

Before you all start thinking this is some mini-game, it isn't. This is going be a full sequel to the book, Deus Ex: Icarus Effect which took place before Deus Ex: Revolution. You will be controlling ex-SAS soldier Ben Saxon and he is on the run from Tyrants, the heavily-augmented characters that were Human Revolution's boss.

James Wright, the Square-Enix Europe Mobil Producer, has been quoting as saying this
"One of the most important things to put across and will hopefully spread by word of mouth: this is not an action spin-off or a hacking mini-game, It's the full Deus Ex experience, and we believe the product will speak for itself."

Square-Enix Mobil and N-Fusion are the ones making the game, but Eidos Montreal will still be under-seeing the project.

We already have a trailer and the game is set to come out this summer, with more information at E3.

Here is some game-play and how it will look on the Tablets.

:ness: Ughhhhh. More phone/tablet game bullshit. Y'know, when I had the tablet, it wasn't anything special. It certainly wasn't something I'd want to play games on (besides Tetris, but Tetris is a legend). Anyway, con fucking grats on the game, Square people. I hope you all enjoy the profit from it. :smartass:

I called this ages ago in a previous thread, The Fall simply does not sound like the name of a true sequel. As for "actually a real game", no it isn't. It is a sequel to a book based on the series, it is the straight-to-video of the modern age.

Put it on Android, preferably with enhanced graphics, and I'm in. Otherwise...no. I'm done with iOS gaming. Apple devices do well in benchmarks, but practically they are well behind Android. Tegra 3 and especially Tegra 4 can handle the same level of graphics as Deus Ex: HR, and anyone with an Xbox or PS3 controller could use that instead of the touchscreen for Deus Ex: HR controls. I'm glad to see how much of The Fall is exactly like its predecessor, but the platform just isn't suited for it. The iPhone screen is too tiny and iPads are useless compared to other tablets--I'm definitely not getting one just for this game.

Holy shit, the number of dislikes compared to likes for that video. :lew:

I must admit, visually it looks great. For an iOS game, it looks to be leaps and bounds above the cacophony of other churned crap like Square-Enix's own FF: All The Bravest. This is, at the very least, a product with effort being put into it, and looking like a solid spinoff game that can amiably join the franchise family, as opposed to simply monetising the player directly with rubbish that isn't even a game like FF: ATB.

The problem is, who is this for? They state this is a follow-up story to the Icarus Effect novel, which I wager most people haven't read. No Deus Ex fan has asked for this, though a good number of them will probably still bite. Most iPhone/iPad people opt for the freemium, or 69p stuff. And frankly, this is not an ideal platform for something like a Deus Ex game. Playing what is primarily a first-person stealth-action adventure on a touchscreen doesn't instill me with much enthusiasm, given my recent unpleasant experiences with N.O.V.A. and Brothers in Arms for iPad.

The iPhone and iPad can be great gaming devices if developers wisely take advantage of the touchscreen and gyroscope methods of input. This just looks like a watered-down and simplified shoot-out, much like Mass Effect: Infiltrator, because it has to be, without conventional buttons. It may look visually pleasing, but I'm hard pressed to believe Square-Enix's claim that this is part of a new strategy of console-quality mobile and tablet games. Close, but no cigar.
