What did you rename Princess Garnet?
I thought Dagger was a silly name for a princess. -__-
So I named her Garnet. >_>
Garnet is a cool name.

I left it at Dagger since it makes the final line in the game make more sense - "Bring my Dagger to me!"

That, and I dislike changing names lately, I don't know why, but since I started my first replay of FFIX a while ago, I've never renamed any characters.
 
I tend to re-name the lead female character as my current love interest and this is always combined with renaming the main character as...well, me. :wacky: For the sake of maintaining whatever dignity I may have on this site, I'll refrain from posting the names of these people, but let's just say they always tend to be regular names.

It's just struck me how creepy it seems to live out some form of fantasy by renaming characters and assuming it'll end up that way. xDD

I NEVER called her Dagger ever, although I never thought about that line making more sense xD

I've just called her summat random off the top of my head each time. Quickly think of a girls name and Im done. Never my own though. I find that a tad gay. I think I called her Lilly on my last playthrough, but previous to that, I renamed her......Garnet xD

I actually forgot her name was Garnet for a while...
The only FF character i've ever changed the name of is the main character on FFV...because you have to. He doesnt have a preset name
Oh and the 2nd time I played FFVII I renamed Vincent. Changed it to Valentine.

So yeah I think the name Dagger's pretty lame
but even if I restarted the game I wouldn't change it anyways
It makes the game...seem not so lame
Because usually when I change a name I end up regretting it
 
I really do hate the name Dagger. And yes, I understand the entire intent of giving her such a cringe-worthy name was to show how naive she was, but still... Dagger? But even given that I won't rename her. The one time I was tempted to rename her I almost picked "Sarah".
 
Why the hell would she name her self Dagger?
That's a stupid name, so I did change it....I named her Kimiko xDD
Sounds a lot better to me then .....Dagger....

I kept it either Garnet or Dagger. That way people would know who I'm talking about when I mention her. It wouldn't be right to say oh hey how do you get "Ambers" final weapon. No body would know who I'm talking about. I keep it how the makers had it. Other then that I'd probally forget the real name. Also when showing off my files people would be like,"Xavier? thats a dumb name." and I'd be disapointed.
 
...you all do realize she has a real name in the game, right? I don't remember if you discover it in the storyline or if it's an easter egg thing though. I won't spoil it, you can find it for yourself.

Dagger even though it's not much of a attractive name, it fits with the storyline. Zidane's weapon ( which she gave herself the new nickname and idenity ) shows a symbol of breaking through her depression and showing her new strength...

Wanted to call her '' Princess '' so when Garnet says '' Don't shout around calling me Princess, or don't call me Princess ''. She would look tad retared.
However the name didn't fit in the naming bar, think SquareSoft did it on purpose. -__-
 
I never change the characters names on the first playthrough, so you get to see the line - bring my dagger to me. But after that I've changed it to Garnet. or possibly whoever is my love interest of the moment. :unsure:
 
I believe there was a thread like that. :\ anyway I left it the same since I don't like to change the characters name, and yes Dagger is a stupid name but that what SE (or Squaresoft at that time) choose I go with the main name. :\

I kept it as Dagger, I don't like changing the names of my characters. Even though I preferred the name "Garnet" and I thought Dagger was a stupid name at the time, I still named her Dagger :/

I remember that now!! I had totally forgot about that. I think me and a friend had joked how it was similar to this girl we knew, of the same name, and when we found out! GASP SHOCK HORROR indeed!!

On my next playthrough I'm gonna give her her ACTUAL name:gasp:
It sounds MUCH better than Dagger, as does Garnet..
 
I keep it Dagger because that is what the name was meant to be, I never change them either...my first FF game I played was X and renamed Tidius with my name and thought it was a little dumb through the game, but just kept playing
 
I wanted to name her back to Garnet cause it'd be funny that they would keep calling her Garnet and no one would understand that she was the princess,but I named her Alexis after the name of Alexandria.
 
I don't really like the name, "Dagger"... so I just changed it back to her original name, "Garnet"... much better.
