Creative Writers

I figure we could even write on topics. If everyone doesn't mind. How about poetry? We could start with anything that is prevalent in your life right now...

Blasphemy

Spoken to you about everything wrong
I don't cry when I hear our song
All you see is an addict in your eyes
I've made you cold with the years of lies
I apologize for what I've done to our family
I pray to God for you to forgive me
It doesn't look like I have any chance left
But even now I still hold my breath
Please let the tears fall where they may
If you only give me one more day
I have no one to turn to when I need a friend
So I'd be eternally grateful for your shoulder to lend
I wish that everything could work out fine
But I know I'll lose everything I call mine

Doaj, that's really a very good poem. I really liked it! Have you considered publishing it in a magazine?

Speaking of poetry, there's this beginning of a poem I jotted down but I don't know what to do with it. I just wrote it down lest I forget it, but I don't have a clue as to how to continue the poem. Does anyone have any ideas? Here's all I got right now:

I shall lie here in the darkness
and wait for death to come.
'Til the day we must confess,
and our sins are brought to sum.

Ideas? I really need help on this one.

I'm a creative writer person... Thingy... Currently working on some songs, a rap (the poetic type, not Gangsta Rap), and the basic story for a game idea.

Well, Dragon Mage, it seems to me that the poem sounds as if it could take a religious turn. I know in Christianity and branches of it, they often talk of being in the dark and shown the light by God, so if you're religious, that could be a path to take. If you're not, then you could even go as to compare what you believe in with another religion. Otherwise, I'd say that what you could even bring in some more concrete views instead of focusing so abstractly.

And no, I haven't considered anything of the like. I'd only just written that poem as I posted, and haven't edited it yet, either. I have longer ones that I like more, although I felt a lot of emotion with writing that, as it has a lot to do with my life right now.

Demi-Fiend, could we see what you have on your rap, or would you care to post it when you finish it? I'm interested, myself.

Not until I'm done. xD I haven't really written anything yet... It's basically going to be spoken-word poetry with specific rhythm changes. I've just basically been experimenting with that. Got some good results, just never had a piece of paper and pen/pencil to jot it down.

Hai people! God I hate not having a laptop of my own :( All my stories and articles for school magazine are on there. And my best friend who happens to be the editor literally kicked me in my arse because of it!

Ooooooooo, I never thought of that! *gasp*

oooooooooooooo.....

Yes! That gives me a wonderful idea! :hyper: omg, why didn't I see it before? I kept thinking about downfalls of society, but this is much more interesting!

Thank you for your help Doaj!

See people? This is how the writing club works. ;)

There are few people in the world with talent like that, to come up with a good poem right on the spur of the moment.

*jealous*

You really should look into publishing some of the poems. If that one is a 'crude and unedited' version, I can only imagine what some of the polished stuff is like!

Well Dragon Mage, I am certainly glad that I can help. And also, I think you'd be surprised by how many publishers don't accept good work, for all sorts of reasons. They're generally looking for one specific theme, and I don't write about current events. I don't know if you've seen my other work, but I do have it on the site. "Feir's Poetry", I believe the thread is called.

Doaj, have no fear. I have consolation for you. And for everyone that fears their work will never be published.

Now, lean close, I must whisper it in your ear. Closer... good. All right. Now here's the message that will banish your doubts, ease your fears, and fill you with confidence.

If some piece of shat like the Twilight series can be read and published to become wildly successful, than anything you write (and is inherently superior) will certainly be published in no time.

That, my good friends, is the trught.

xD I quite agree. All it takes is the effort to seek it... I can only imagine how many publisher reject that crap...

And if none of them rejected it, they probably only believed it would sell because of the word 'vampire'. To which they were quite accurate.

lol, my girlfriend read that series and talked mad shit about how bad it was. Well, I honestly haven't been trying to have my material published, but I most certainly can send some in when I have some free time. I hope to write a novel sometime, but I haven't had nearly enough free time; not to mention how picky I am. My first novel would have to be a good one, by my own standards.

It took a bit, but I found this place. I'd like to join. I'm in the progress of writing another book. I haven't had anything published, outside of school newspaper things, but I'm working on it. I've got a trilogy I'm trying to finish. ^^

I'm currently writing a novel now called The Avenger.

I'll have the FFF version posted up soon, I'm sure some of you may have heard me discussing it. Think early years of my character.
