Can anyone else say that this game is THE MOST confusing/complicated story plot ever I'm an FF game? What do you think? Did you find it easy to pick up or did you have to really play it again just to get it?

I honestly wish FF games were more complex as this one instead of being so simple. I mean this is the only FF game to have so many spin offs and side story's it's rediculous. So, do you find this game to be complicated or very complex to you?

I didn't find this game complex at all. The basis is basically stop Sephiroth. All the details in between weren't that difficult to follow. I'd say the spinoffs added more confusion though. But for just VII itself, I didn't find it hard to understand. After not playing it for awhile I forgot some stuff but I played it again recently and everything was as clear as the first time I played it.

Definitely. Because if you miss one point, you're lost. The first time I played it I didn't really get it. But that may have just been because I was 11... :P

Not really complex or confusing.. I think people just try and take in too many details at once about the game and try to make everything match like a puzzle...
I mean yes you can be a little confused by the storyline, but then again what FF game don't you question something about the story??

Actually in my opinion this had one of the more simpler storyline's to follow. Basic characters, basic level up system, basic battle system, this game overall was basic minus the Martia system which was easy to follow.

The story, yes you can throw your own curves into it and argue about some points, but its very simple to follow. You know who the bad guys are who the good guys are, and what you have to do and why.

I actually think it may have been quite complex too, But I did play it at a young age......Through my original playthrough even though I found the FULL story difficult to understand I still enjoyed it,but I don't think you need such a complex story. The main goal here was to stop Sephiroth (nothing hard to understand), but when it's through a characters perspective it tends to be quite bemusing. For instance you see Cloud (as Zack) at Nibelheim, then you see Zack and told what you saw before was an illusion. A storyline like that can be quite dazzling and make you thin wtf was all that about?

But still overall it was a great story.

It is a fairly complex storyline, mainly because you have an unreliable narrator -- Cloud. He's telling you, the player, half-truths and illusions most of the time, and the revelations aren't very well spelled out. To top it off, the story-telling as a whole kind of suffers from that.

Overall though, once you get one point down without doubt, it's very easy to follow from there. There's just a lot of stuff to sift through. :P I love complex and intricate plot lines. I've unraveled storylines simply because they were complicated because I wanted to know the ins and outs of the whole thing. More games should use the techniques that FF7 did.

Maybe you shouldn't take the spin-offs into account...The original had a plot that was complete and didn't miss anything,no plot holes and stuff. Now if you try to make the connection you'll be lost...SO leave the spin-offs out, most of them are more for fanservice and did come out ten years after the game,so even if they wanted to try to be inside the plot they wouldn't be able,if I am guessing right the staff that made the original was different than the staff after 10 years.
Like I said,I don't consider spin-offs to have a story, perhaps maybe a bit DoC,but that's not FFVII's story,it is purely Vincent's.Now as for AC,well I think...it misses many things and un-does many as well. It's better stand-alone even if you don't get a thing from the plot.As for CC,don't have words for it.I enjoyed it and that's why I am mentioning it cause I don't people getting offended but it was a copy of the original's plot and messed it up afterwards.
Going back to the original now...it is well-thought and especially for its time.maybe if someone where to play it for the first time now would compare it to many, but of course it would resemble most, because after FFVII's success I think the trend of the anti-hero started.Still,it doesn't cease to be a good game that isn't linear and gets you by surprise most of the times. Not a lot of confusion, although you have to play it again to understand it better, mainly because it uses many terms(such as the Lifestream) that the gamer usually isn't familiar with.It has quite a few hidden scenes that only add to the plot,it's not like they are vital parts, but play some kind of role in understanding the characters perhaps or a few details for the plot.

By complex i think he means all off the side quest and secret stuff u have 2 do. it's alot and without av walktrough i would hace never found em all! :O

The story is a little complex, but i still understand all off it :)
Pretty amazing story though! :D

From the FF games I've played and beat (most), yes i probably is the most confusing, but mainly because it was the first FF game I played and I played it that long, I forgot a lot of the story and had to replay it many many times.

An FF game that complex wouldn't appeal to me these days, I've better things to do with my time.

The materia system allowed a lot of freedom, which in turn allows for a lot of customization. The rules set by it weren't all that complex though. At least not compared to what I'm used to toying around with. It's the different combinations of materia you can use that make it fun to play with, and I like that.
