Ok Heres a great question. Whats your closest call, during battles? A time when you Knew you were gonna lose yet for some reason someone upstairs blessed you with just plain Luck?

Heres mine... i still kinda dont believe it myself... I was battling Safer sephiroth and he had killed off all my characters except vincent who happened to be in choas mode... Un-fair huh.... Well vincent kept wailing on good old sephiroth, and Sephiroth kept doing supernova on him, I had one HP. left and it was my turn i was freaking out cuz i had been in the northern caves for bout 7hours and i just wanted it to be over.... so with one hp Vincent used his skeleton head rising from the ground move and it hits sephiroth Does bout 9999 damage to him. He doesnt fall still. SO i basically give up cus i knew the next attack would kill me... But heres the kicker Sephiroth missed. so i Attacked him again and sephiroth DIED.... HAHAHA i was like wtf just happened here.. I WON>?????? SWEEET.... HAHA

Whats your story

Seems like an appropriate topic for General Final Fantasy since it seems like a serious discussion rather than a topic fit for the FF Fun section. ;))

I'd have to say the Omega weapon battle in FFVIII. I played FFVIII twice and both times i skipped over omega cuz he was just so ridiculously powerful. then, a couple years later, i was bored and picked up FFVIII again. I looked up some different strategies for beating omega and i gave it a shot. I played him a couple times and figured out that by the 4th or 5th move he used his instant death move or whatever that pretty much instantly killed off my party. Now, i'm the type of guy who doesn't like using items, and likes to keep all the key items, so i didn't want to turn the laguna card into the heroes. So, after i had died 15 times or so, i decided to try a speed tactic. to try and kill omega before his near death move (move 4 or 5). So, I junctioned everything i could to speed and put my party in the low health zone. I had zell, rinoa and squall in my party. As soon as the battle started, i used rinoa's invincibility move to make my party invincible, then i chained renzokukens and zell's random moves. it got to the 4th turn and i was sure that i was gonna die again, but i beat omega in speed and managed to have another round at him. squall pulled off a lionheart and i beat him! IT WAS AWESOME!

I've had several close calls, like fighting Zeromus in the FFIV DS verson. (I got it to see how it was compared to the original) I tell ya, it's fairly hard. I'm level 70+ and red dragons are still dangerous. :monster:

Anyways, yeah. Cecil was the last one standing, only a couple HP left, then I attacked, and it was the finishing blow. Boy, it was load off lol.

I was pretty much in the same spot, I had to go level up after facing him the first time and getting my butt kicked, i levled up another 10ish lvls and still was left with Cecil with only a few HP left

That is the only one I remember vividly, I am pretty sure fighting Lady Yunalesca I only had one character left as well.

I should probably stick in my two cents as well instead of looking like an indecisive mod. xD

It hasn't happened often to me but the most recent example would be my fight against Sephiroth, the first time, in Crisis Core. I'm playing the game on hard mode and, for the first time, I noticed that he can summon the Huge Materia. They caused quite a bit of bother, whittled away 4 of my Phoenix Downs (despite the fact that I had 9999 HP - I couldn't get any breathing space xD) and occasionally dispelled my Wall, the only thing keeping me safe from Octoslash.

It must've taken about 45 minutes but I'd been hacking away for the whole time, just as I was about to fall, "Conflict Resolved" <3

in ffx i was fighting that monster that blaocks the way to anima ( the one you giht at the beggening too) and i didn't know what to expect and when i got to him he was kikin my butt, 2 of my charchters quickl;y died and wakka had one life left but he had evade and counter on his weapon so when ever the moneter sucked me in my life went down to 1 and whenever it did a normal attack i evaded it, i was so happy that i didn't lose because i hadn't saved my game for a while but it tooked me like half an hour cuz i was weak

Fighting gilgamesh in XII, by some blessing just as my characters were away to send me the gameover screen(vaan and basch were kod) ashe on her last legs finished off gilgamesh with i think something like 79 hp remaining. Seeing as i hadnt saved in a while losing that battle wouldve meant my ps2 going through the window.

My closest call was definitely in FFVIII in the final battle against Ultimecia. I was only barely hanging on for most of the battle, but I got extremely lucky during that fight. I was lucky enough to get Invincible moon twice in that fight and they both showed up right in the knick of time. So I was quite relieved when the fight was finally over.

There have been plenty of other times when I have been involved in a long boss fight and my healing source (whether it's items or magic) gets depleted. I then realise it's all or nothing so I go full offensive and just manage to scrape through in the few turns I have left.

Against Necron in FFIX. Steiner was the last man standing. He only had a bit of HP left and was infected by zombie. He finished off Necron with one final (Shell) Shock(ed). It was very surprising and a good moment. One those times where you just kinda fall back and think about everything that's ever happened to you in life. LOL anyway, yeah. Necron is a mean thing :mokken:
