What classes did you take in school that you absolutely adored and still treasure to this day?

Mine would have to be all my history classes in high school. Taught me a bunch of things and I found out just how cool every history teacher at my school was. They made things interesting and naturally I'm showing them some gratitude with this post.

Other than that, it's my AVID class. Helped me out in applying to colleges and helped mold me into a more mature person overall.

Definitely my art class. I drew and painted for 45 minutes nonstop - what better way than to spend that much time drawing and painting, eh? I miss the "ooohs" and "aaahs" that students would make whenever they pass my table. Learned a lot of medias and entered (and won several) competitions throughout the city. One of the best experience I had.

I also enjoyed all my Honors/AP English classes from 9th - 12th grade. I've always loved English and even look forward to the timed-writing essays, although they do have a habit of making me nervous. But once I finish the essay, I feel such great accomplishment and I miss that about high school.

Then there's APES class (Advanced Placement Environmental Science) and I LOVE this class. That's where I met my husband. :D There were only like 12 - 14 students overall since the majority dropped out the second day of class. Small class but we loved it that way and the field trips were the best.

Currently I'm taking a piano class and I can already tell that this will be on my 'favorite classes list.' I'm finally learning how to play and read notes without looking at the keyboard! ^^

English
Art

Friday afternoons with double art and my best mate were just <3 And it was something I enjoyed, it didnt involve writing or thinking. It was great, plus I was fairly good at art so that was a bonus and my art teacher loved me.

Only thing I hated about English was poems and having to disect them, what was the point?! How do these boks know that the writer of said oem was so precicely implying something other than what he was writing about? HE was talking about his spuds NOT HIS LOST YOUTH. Never ever saw the point in it. Anyway, other than that I loved it. I was actually good at it once, without even trying I was one of the best in the class. Fuck knows what went wrong over the years, but I wish Id studied it at college an' shit, I really really liked it :gasp:

history....just love it. anything i hear about history for some reason gets stuck in my head.....so yeah, kinda easy to study it....actually i sometimes dont even study for tests.....just remember what teacher talked in class

Italian (compare it to english, since I'm Italian). We had two teachers, bot great people and amazing in their work. They could have a lesson about the dullest and most boring book/poetry/whatever ever written and make you want to read it! the second one knew a lot of things about art and religion, so when explaining a specific author he would also say how the world, the society and other writers/artists influenced him adding a lot of details which helped us to remember him and know how to relate him to the other authors.

I also loved philosophy - our teacher was strange but good. He'd often explain to us only the basic elements of a philosopher, then we had to read him on our book (a very good one) and then the next lesson we had to ask him what we didn't understand. Then when everyone had understood it we always had a team work, like "write a dialogue between a boy who's studying at the university of Berlin when Schopenhauer was teching here and his old father, who strongly supports Hegel". They were very funny and made us analyze these philosophies and see what they had in common, how one evolved form another...

I had a psych class in high school I liked quite a bit, but more for the company than the subject matter. We never really learned anything, but I had a lot of interesting conversations, and some absolutely bizarre revelations.

Also, the creative writing class I took last semester was good. It taught me to be a lot more confident and not as embarrassed about writing crap once in a while, and also it was the class that made poetry "click" for me.

I absolutely loved History in Secondary School, and I still love it in college. I have a lot of fantastic memories of History in Secondary school, and it was a load of fun. While in college, it's my easiest subject and the banter in the class is fantastic.

I also really loved Drama, my biggest regret in college is taking English Literature instead of Drama D=

I think my favourite class was my IG History class. It's just so easy that you don't have to pay any attention, I spent a lot of the time drawing Nazi Fish ( fish covered in Swastikas). I quoted Guns n Roses in my essays and played bowling using a computer mouse and a three empty cans of coke. Although I did learn a lot too, Gustav Streseman, ToV, 14 points, Munich Putsch, Spartacists et al.

Mathematics. All kinds of mathematics. From the easiest Basic Fundaments of Mathematics to Pre Calculus, Calculus and so on. I really enjoy numbers and to think I used to hate it when I was a kid. This is the only subject that I find completely enjoyable to study and I can study almost any math textbook nonstop without getting bored.

Right now I am on second semester of Pre-Calculus, and I am planning to take Calculus during summer and review some of the basic fundaments of Pre Calculus just in case. Functions can be a pain if you don't get the basics right.

Ja, I remember having good conversations with Angelus, our former administrator. Too bad she is not around, I would be glad to ask her a thing or two.

:math:

I too loved my history courses. I also enjoyed literature courses, particularly Elizabethan literature. Currently, I guess my contracts course is the lesser of many evils

US 20th Century History.

Not only the class was really interesting, but my teacher was awesome. Some how he incorporated a clip from The Dave Chappelle Show to the class. How leaders were keeping it real or not. XD That, and he taught the subject really well and would throw in fun facts relating to the subject.

This class certainly caught my interest in US history.

Philosophy.

University level philosophy courses have been by far my favorite, particularly a course dealing with religion. I enjoyed the debate aspect of the class, and I got more than my fair share. Given the area I live in, the people typically on my side of the debates were very much in the minority.

My major, however, is computer engineering, so of course I also greatly enjoyed programming, computer architecture, and theory courses.

Spanish III, had an awesome teacher. We'd have 'Family Guy Fridays' every Friday and we always did a bunch of fun shit.

Psychology.

It's a very interesting subject; I would never have expected such a vast majority of basic actions and responses could be psychologically explained, determined and even predicted. It's giving me a greater insight into how the mind works and I'm quite interested in continuing study.

Linguistics

I've found it pretty interesting so far. It involves looking for similarities and differences in different languages which in turn can be used to explain how particular languages were developed. It also involves looking at how words and sentences are constructed. So far, I've had to figure out what certain words in foreign languages mean by looking for patterns and such. Pretty interesting stuff.

Photography
I'm actually enjoying this class very much. It's very interesting to learn all about old cameras that were used, especially some that are from the 1400's (Camera Obsecura) We actually got to build one of those the first week. It's amazing how a box with a hole in it can take a picture. And it's so interesting to work in a darkroom and learn all about developing pictures and such. Very cool class and i've enjoyed it so far this year.

Sounds like an excellent class, SaShman, I should take it soon too just for kicks.

From that, I freaking love my Chinese class. I learn so much from the professor, who is a native Mandarin speaker and Beijing resident. I learn about Chinese culture, mindsets, and obviously the language for 3 hours every Monday and Wednesday, so it's really awesome.

Law

It's a simply sensational subject, the first part of the year was a bit boring since it was just basic stuff like who are in the courts and their jobs e.t.c. but now we've got into the criminal part of it such as sentencing, actus reus, mens rea and such like which is brilliant, plus the people in my class are amazing as well as the teacher 8D

Performing Music BTEC

I used to love this class, but I think it was more of the atmosphere of the people within the class than the actual lessons itself. It was full of talented people, playing in gigs were amazing and all the stuff we used to get up to makes me miss those days.

Graphic Design

In school, college and university, I've always found this subject enjoyable. There are many aspects within design I do not enjoy such as web design though I do like interactive designs if based in flash, but other than web design I generally like design as a while.

Mathematics

I miss this class, Mathematics is probably the only compulsory class I had to take that was mentally stimulating. I've always been good at Maths as a child and used to pick relative topics up easily, I must have known how to multiply and divide properly by the time I was 6. With out this class, now that I am studying Graphic Design, I feel like my IQ and intelligence as dropped sharply.

Well for me, its all four subjects that I'm taking just now. Music, art, drama and biology.

Music: I have had a massive interest in music for years, which lead me onto taking up flute and piano. Though, I got a terrible grade last year for it, so i'm doing a re-sit, which isn't too bad. I'm wanting to be a music teacher or something along those lines, so I'm helping people in my class (and I help younger classes) with anything they get stuck on, so it acts as a kind of revision thing for me. I managed to get a Uematsu piece approved by the exam people to play for my exam which made me happy as hell. Last block on a Friday in particular is the best, I just sit and compose until the bell goes and i go home for the weekend.

Art: I've been drawing since i could pick up a pencil. Its another way I can express myself along with music. Its a class that I think will help me develop something I've always loved. Its a relatively relaxing subject as well. The class look up to me as well, because I'm "amazing".

Drama: I love everybody in my class. The teachers are all crazy and I love acting and getting away from who I really am at times. Though the course I'm doing requires a hell of a lot of writing, its still really enjoyable. But we're getting in the hard part of the course now so I don't know if i'll love it as much!

Biology: its the first time I've ever done it and I loved it as soon as I started. I call it my "proper learning subject" because the rest are more creative and expressive compared to this. I learn about things i only had a small amount of knowledge in. Although I sit next to a girl who talks for the whole hour, everyday. especially during the double -.-
