And his general works.
Soundgarden and Audioslave were fantastic bands. Sadly, Cornell's solo career has been nowhere near as good. The only good thing he did was You Know My Name for Casino Royale, along with a few other half-decent tracks on his first solo album.
And I read today that his new one (Scream) is being produced by none other than... Timbaland. Oh dear. Every review I've read so far has been pretty negative of it, so I'm rather disappointed. I think I'll just stick to Soundgarden and Audioslave.

I have to say that i totally agree.
His new style is so un-cornell it can be.
Just another victim of timbaland..
Trying to make music that everyone will buy, except the fans that actually know something about Chris Cornell, not just that he had that catchy song in 2009.
Shame.

Yeah, You Know My Name is the only song I've ever heard from Chris Cornell and it really worked out better for a Bond theme. It's way better than the stupid one that Alicia Keys and Jack what's-his-name did.

I've never really listened to any of Soundgarden's songs, but I thought Audioslave were epic. Cornell's solo stuff doesn't really do him justice IMO. The songs that I've heard off "Scream" sound very generic pop, the basic electronic drum beats just make his songs seem poor. But I guess Chris probably wanted to try something new. I find his songs ok, but they just seem like the kind of crappy pop songs that you like for about a month and then forget about.......like most of Timbalands stuff.

The James Bond song was ok for a bond song, but tbh Bond songs get really old really fast. I think Chris belongs in front of a band like Audioslave.

Well I was a huge fan of Chris's old stuff, from Temple of the Dog with Eddy Vedder to Sound Garden and I dug some of Audioslaves stuff especially since the lead guitarist from R.A.T.M. Tom Marello was in it.

Chris has a very unique voice, but his direction that he is taking most of his stuff these days is very disheartening. I mean I think the dude literally had a mid life crisis because I mean his stuff lacks the soul it used to. I can't feel the umph anymore so to speak.

I think these days we can put him in the struggling wash up category, because of course "timbaland" will fop is damn LP. So don't expect much from it to be honest. He's getting old people, let's just remember him for Spoonman, Burden in my Hand, and Black Hole Sun and get the heck on..

Bumped :neomon:

I thought I'd inform everyone who didn't know already that Soundgarden has reunited. Since my last post in this thread I have been listing to Soundgarden a lot more and I am quite excited to hear that they are back together. They say that they are planning to play several festivals across the U.S as well as a few international festivals. Hopefully they come here.

Awesome news! I love Soundgarden, one of the best Grunge bands i've heard.
Glad they're finally back about damn time IMO, Chris's solo carreer was being an utter failure :|.

Great way to start off 2010!

OH SHIT!!!!! I love Soundgarden. When Chris went to Audioslave, I had a feeling it was going to be good. After he left, I didn't know how his career was going to end up. Now that I hear Soundgarden is coming back, it makes me feel good.

Yeah my ex was excited over this XD I was more of an Audioslave fan then Soundgarden. And to be honest I wasnt too keen on his solo career. The man is still a total hottie after all these years :) But Timbaland ... eep!
