Ok there seems to be only two emotions when it comes to chatspeak. you either love it and refuse to type any other way, or you HATE it and it burns your eyes to read it.

I personally HATE it with a passion, its annoying having to read it - and some people just SLAUGHTER the english language with it.

It is inexcusable sometimes. its ok if your like dyslexic or if english isnt your first language. but if it is and you can spell the words then its inexcusable for you not to spell the word properly,

Well IMO anyway.

I agree fully with you. I think that it's an ugly way of typing, and it makes a mockery of the English language with it. I fully support good, proper grammar :)
That said though, I still use it when I write text messages. I think on a phone it's much easier to write that way

Yeah i agree with you Pooley - texting is the ONLY time i will ever chatspeak - earlier on i found myself putting U instead of You on MSN and i HAD to correct myself >_<

Yay! English grammar all the way. Sometimes I use lol or IMO, but Im more of a user of proper english, although I sometimes make spelling mistakes. I'll be lazy when I use my moblie and use text speak, but thats so I dont cross over into 2 text messages. It does frustrate me when people use text speak on forums and Ive seen quite abit here. It frustates me cause half the time I haven a clue what they're saying!

Yeah, it's a little annoying to read at times. I can understand a few words, but overall in the end, I wouldn't comprehend what the heck their point was. I mean, I can understand if the people who does it doesn't really speak good English. That's fine. But if they do it because they think it's cute and all, then that's an entirely different matter, but I'll groan and read it anyway. >.<

yh its anoyin an its stoopid when peeps use slang innit u an me both hate it yea lol

Oh that was funny
I can't even stand not using correct grammar. I have to use apostrophes, commas, full stops, capital letter etc. I annoys me a lot when people try correct grammar, but make a complete mess of it. I'll occassionally use shortened phrases like IMO and BTW, but very rarely. It's even rarer to see my type lol. I usually use smilies for that

My brothers a bugger for using it on MSN. I have to ask him most the time what hes talking about because its so bad.

I'm not sure.....I don't really hate it to be honest, but I don't use it all that much myself.

Most of the time I use proper grammar, but I have a tendency to use: IMO, WTF, FTW, BTW & NVM.

So uh, I don't love it or hate it xD

I have serious issues with netiquette. So much so, I even text like I type. XD

As for mild use, I'll use things like 'wtf' or 'rofl' (but only if I find something seriously funny). I loathe "lol" due to it being severely over-used. Grammar... well, it's my life online, and it's totally leaking into my personal life. Even in casual conversation I'll come out with randomly long words which could easily be replaced with something simple. Makes me come off quite the snob. >.>

But yeah, I hate it with a passion. I personally believe that all lesser forms of the English language should be kept to those pathetic little chatrooms filled with 13 year olds, and OUT of forums.

I'll even go as far as saying typing properly shows respect for other people.

Grammar rules my life. D'=

I'll use lol, or WTF sometimes. But other than that I really hate it. Especially when I can't even decipher what the person is saying. I hate when people shorten words like any to ne, or what to wut. I mean, it just one letter less than how it should be.

I'm the same. No problem with it. I hate hack-speak and a bunch of other made up stuff. But I don't mind acronyms.

Doesn't bother me, but I tend to try and post as good of grammar as I can.

leet blows.

I personally hate it with a burning passion. Of course, i think its okay in small doses such as LOL, IMO, and my personal fave, GD.
