FFXIII-2 Buy now or wait....

Should I buy it now or wait ?

I'm asking because I am in a position to buy it now or buy something else.
Dragon Age 1 and 2, for example.
Or Elder Scrolls Skyrim.
Or Deus Ex.

Might be worth it to wait.
At some point do you think Square will release a complete version with all the dlc included in it ?
Would it be better to wait until then.I realize that might not be until December or some other time when Square might release a complete version to get a final profit from the game.

So what do you think ?

It depends on a few things

Did you like FFXIII? If you did then definitely get this game, cause for me it is a much needed improvement over XIII. Not as great as the originals but a step in the right direction. As well as I don't see them doing a complete edition to be honest but if so and you didn't like FFXIII then go for that option.

Elder Scrolls is a wonderful game (done 150 hours on it so far) if your a big western RPG fan or an elder scrolls fan at that then go for that without a doubt because you won't be disappointed. Especially as it has had a lot of patches since release so your getting a more complete experience.

Dragon Age is good, I enjoyed it for most of it but DA 2 was a let down compared to the first but it's all down to opinions obviously. Finally Deus Ex....yet again depends on your taste, I really enjoyed the game but you don't have much incentive to replay it like the other games and it is rather Linear even with multiple infiltration options.

To be honest it's all down to what you like, how much money you can spend ( to be honest you should be able to get DA and Deus ex on the cheap) and what your capable of waiting for.
 
My advice? Wait, or rent it. Before renting FFXIII-2 I had a presentiment that it would be just the same as FFXIII (despite reviewers saying that it was a ‘reinvention’ as opposed to a ‘continuation/iteration’) and all too soon my fears were affirmed: the developers still think they’re developing a movie (the exposition is tedious), for the first 2 hours of the game I could only take about 20 steps before triggering a cut-scene, and the cut-scenes are generally pretty boring and don’t serve to advance the story in any meaningful way. For every important line there’s ten minutes of filler. The characters are still fastidiously adorned to the point of absurdity, melodramatic and odious, and the game is still linear (I’m about 8 hours into the game and it hasn’t opened up that much). The time-travelling concept is annoying and confusing. “Am I in the past? Or in the future? Where is Lightning? Is she trapped in the space time continuum?” Who cares! Get on with it! The battle-system still feels repetitive, and character customization is essentially limited to unlocking preset abilities the same as FFXIII. Where’s the scope for creativity? There is none. The introduction of capturing a menagerie of monsters to fight along side you is admittedly interesting, but I soon got bored of that after the game arbitrarily circumscribed my ability to upgrade my monsters presumably because it didn’t approve of how powerful I was becoming. Back to the environments though, sure they’re beautiful, but it doesn’t feel like you’re actually in the environments, it feels like the environments exist independently of the player and there’s a palpable disconnection between the player and the environment. You can’t interact with that much, and invisible walls (which developers stopped applying on PS1) are immanent. The magazines I have at home are rhapsodising on how the player can now jump apparently opening up the environment for an ‘unprecedented amount of exploration’ (I’m paraphrasing). Not true. Big deal – I could jump in TR1 on the PS1, but most of the time, you can only jump from predetermined spots anyway. So, to conclude, FFXIII-2 is horse****. If you want a real RPG get Fallout 3 or Skyrim. Excuse the massive wall of text and my strong-opinion.

Oh, and Deus Ex is incredible!

DA is really worth it especially now with low price. As for the rest of your list I cant say much cause I havent played them myself.
But those seem to be worth the price and will give you a lot of fun.

Maybe Deus Ex is cheaper now as well.
Anyways I would buy any of those games rather than FFXIII-2.

DA has crappy graphics but its story and gameplay makes up for it.
I played as a mage and it was epic.
 
I did decide

to go with Dragon Age, the Complete Edition which has addtional dlc.

Postponing buying FFXIII-2 until I see how its dlc goes, especially if there is an ending I can approve of that isn't nebulous/cryptic/feels incomplete.

So I'll wait.:neomon:
 
Ehhh... I wouldn't get any of those games full price. I mean I got Skyrim but that got boring pretty quick for me. DA 1 was ok but over hyped I feel and after playin the XIII-2 demo I might not even get it let alone at full price. :lew:

The roughly $60 for FFXIII-2 may be too much right off the bat as Halequin mentioned.Might be better to wait for a cheaper used copy.


As for Skyrim allegedly the PS3 version has some glitches so it might be better to wait for the release of a fully patched version.

TBH I was probably like Tom and didnt like DA in the beginning.
The graphics suck so bad and I played as a warrior.
I didnt like it. Then I decided to play as a mage and it turned massively. I loved it ever since.
SO it also depends on your choice of type of warrior.

Skyrim has officially been patched on the ps3. Check out the Skyrim thread if you have the time.
 
Bethesda bugs the absolute shit out of me (no pun intended). Seriously, are they capable of releasing a game into the market that isn't ridden with bugs that are capable of being game breaking? I don't want to downplay their tremendous efforts in making something like Oblivion and Skyrim, but their quality control leaves a lot to be desired.

Anyway, this isn't a Bethesda rant thread - or a DA thread, Dennis, sooo...

I agree with pretty much everyone here. The games you have suggested definitely offer greater longevity and value for money than FFXIII-2, which I hear is a short game in terms of the main story. Not to mention they're not at full price like FFXIII-2 is, which is an even bigger bonus. To people who are also unsure, you're better off putting it off and waiting - if you're not desperate to play it that is. Who knows, they may put out a newer edition with some of the DLC goodies preloaded or something. Not saying they will, but it's possible. Don't quote me on that though.
