just an idea, i hope people support me on this, but i'm just thinking of the idea of bringing final fantasy 1-10 onto the psp. would that be a good idea? of course, all of them would be in 3d with up-to-par graphics. maybe some each on one umd or each seperately and new content for each game (ie: new voice overs, dungeons, items, etc.) do you think square enix should consider this or just a waste of time

they have done a few FF games on the DS, i have them but i can't remember the names, but one of them is FF4, i would prefer it on the PSP though, i'll support you on this idea ^_^ maybe not with the voice overs, i kinda liked reading what they said, i was able to put my own expression on what they said and sometimes some acsents kill the feel to the scene.

Some of the games already have that now (FF4 for instance, don't know if FF6 remake has it or not) I don't think stuff like voice overs and such matter really. For instance, FF1 really can't do voice overs, being practically dungeons and dragons. FF2 I can't speak for but i'd say it's a likelihood (for voice overs being good) 3 has been 3D'd, 4 too, 5 would be a good remake addition imo, 6 too for he voice overs (though the cost of THAT many voice actors would be STAGGERING) FF7, no... Just no. FF8 i'd love with voice overs and new graphics tbh, same for 9. 10 and 12 don't really need it so much.

true. when i played dissidia and i heard how they were pronouncing names and how bland some of their voices were (english dub) i screamed "NO!" and almsot threw my psp at the wall XP one of my concerns is how they would distribute this: all on one umd, a few on one umd, or all sperate. obviously due to the psp go they would all be available on the psn network, but it's still a good question

Most likely, they would be put on one UMD. Simply because, if they updated graphics etc it wouldn't have a hope in hell of sticking numerous FF titles on one UMD. FF1 and 2 had to be put on seperate UMDs instead of together and they are far from CC level graphics.

yes, but here's where i wonder. when 1-6 were released for ps1, most of them were on seperate discs. not only that, 7-9 had 3 or 4 discs each, so that's where i stumble as to how they might fit so many on one umd. enhanced graphics and voice overs would just increase the amount of space they need. suggestions?

Porting 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 would be a waste of time. 1 and 2 aren't very popular and have been ported to the death already. 3 and 4 are on the DS and in lush 3D. FFV as I recall, isn't really a fan favourite.

If SE do remake FFVI, I would rejoice. Kefka has a fantastic voice in Dissidia, and I would love to see a FFVI remake with voice acting where Kefka can be even crazier in the storyline with a voice! Please remake FFVI, Square! I don't care what console as long as it's not the Xbox 360.

7, 8 and 9 frankly do not need to be re-ported. They're great as they are. 7 (8 and 9 may follow) can be downloaded and transferred onto PSP. FFX doesn't need to be put on an UMD. There's no actual point of doing so.

point or not, i just thought it'd be an interesting idea to get them all on the psp. i dont have a ds so i cant play 3 and 4 in 3d and my mom wont help me get a psn account so...im at a loss except for consoles. speaking of consoles, how about the idea of remaking them for the 360, ps3 and wii? (i know 4 has, but it's not the exact game)

well we all know how the ff7 remake for the ps3 went, all hyped up for nothing.

I would like it to happen but i don't think it would.

The Xbox 360 probably isn't the best idea if SE wants to remake Final Fantasy games for a home console. JRPGs haven't been received that tremendously on the Xbox 360 in both the west and in Japan. The Xbox 360 is diabolical when it comes to sales performance in Japan.

If SE wants to port or remake- having them on the PS3 or the Wii will probably be the more sensible ideas. If they remake FFVI for the Wii- I would instantly love the world! :awesome:

Kajisake, I wouldn't mind seeing your vision come true either, I was just speaking on realistic lines.

I don't know about in Japan but here in the west the games SE has put out on Xbox have sucked. That probably has a lot to do with it. SO is ok, but its not an amazing game or anything.

Also the reason 7,8,9 should be reported is simply because people shouldn't have to still own ps2's or ps1's to play them. Not to improve upon the games or add voice acting. Just so up to date systems can play them. That's ridiculous that they can't. Emulating through the computer isn't as good because the emulator's settings have to be changed for each game, and they still rarely play emulated FF's perfectly and that can be a pain in the ass. Also playing on the computer just isn't the same. I'd much rather play in a living room setting and I don't feel like moving furniture to do it.

Sure ps2's are only a hundred bucks but should people really have to own one still? It shouldn't be necessary. Putting these games on the PSP would be an awesome idea. Just awesome. I've played them a million times but can't think of anything better for long trips when I'm not the one driving. I would completely forget about the time the trip took as I lost myself rediscovering a game like these.

I think that the PSP would clearly be the best system. They just release them all one at a time, and it would make good sales. They should also offer them on the Playstation store.

Eh. there's all kinds of emus and stuff and ways to hack your PSP and other stuff to play the classics. If SE decides they want to do something with them, more power to'em, I guess.

But I don't feel like I'm going to die if they don't. If I really want to do something, I'll find a way to do it.

nuh uh

Perhaps you just haven't done enough research to find out what Emulators best run with particular games.

Also playing on the computer just isn't the same. I'd much rather play in a living room setting and I don't feel like moving furniture to do it.

buy a device that connects your PSX/PS2 controller to your computer, pull up a footrest and a chair, and kick back while you beat down the baddies.

While I won't say classic emulation is perfect, it still works fine. You might have some pixely CGI sequences, and sometimes your emu might crash because you have too many things up and running, but other than that, I do not think there is anything wrong with classic emulation.

GBA emus are probably with almost no flaws, though. You even got kids hacking Pokemon games and editing them to make their own stories and characters now.

.

If you know how to hack the new psp's(not the Go! just the 3000 and after models) please let me know. I've only found information on how to hack the old psp's and the information I have found for the new ones has all been fake. I've spent forever trying to figure this out because I have had 7,8,9 for years and would love to play them on my psp. I still have almost all of my ps and ps2 games actually, and I dont have a ps2. I was going to get a ps3 until I found out they weren't backwards compatible which is the stupidest thing in the world.

I've actually done quite a bit of research at emuforums, and FF's and games like Chrono Cross very rarely run perfect for anyone unless you have a ballin ass gaming computer and even then from what I've read they rarely run as smoothly as through a console.

Probably a waste of time... Actually I won't say that as they'll probably bring profit, but I'm not sure if I'd want them.

I love the classics more than the recent additions, but fear that they might ruin them in updating them into modern graphics and with voice overs, and especially if they change the gameplay.

I think they've done enough remakes and re-releases onto all sorts of different consoles lately. If they were to do full remakes of the earlier games then that'll be quite pointless as they've already spent a lot on graphical updates, re-releases etc over the past 5 years or so.

That would be cool, i would like to play them all. There was once rumor they were gona beef up VII but, i think that is still a rumor, but hopefully...cross your fingers!!

I'll have to agree with Argor. Too much time has been spent on remakes, we really are in need of new titles altogether. You can still buy all of these games somewhere, and even if they are not re-releases or updated, you still get the same experience that you would with the original. At least I did. The PS has a bunch of remakes of the SNES games, and it has VIII and IX also. The PS's graphics really aren't that horrible, and it's easy to get ahold of a used PS if you don't have one.

Honestly, it's seeming very messy with all the different consoles in which remakes are being put onto. The GBA and PSP are both portable and maybe I'm missing something, but I always thought it would have been better to take the time to put it on a home console.

People are most likely just going to bitch about how horrible the voice acting was, how they ruined the experience for veteran players, and whatnot. I'd rather not see any more remakes, we've already got a hefty supply.

To clarify I want them to make the games for PSP without changing them any. So I don't think that would ruin them. It would just allow more people to actually play them. I don't want them updated just put on the PSP. 7,8,9 have not been remade or put on new consoles ever. Most of the SNES games got remade and put on the DS because they were on Nintendo orignally, but it would be awesome to have the playstation ones put on the PS. They did the first 6 why not 7,8,9 so that there are a bunch of FF's on both the DS and the PSP because some people dont own both. I think 2, and 3 are on the PSP and Crisis Core, but 2 and 3(and maybe 1 is on there too) are the worst games in the series.

i want to clarify on some ideas. it seems no one wants the voice overs, but why? i've heard no complaining about war of the lions voice overs, and little over dissidia aside from name pronunciation, so it's just a thought. then, on the side of new graphics, it seems like a much better idea than a lot of 16-bit graphics for 5 or 6 of the games. i think it would be VERY interesting to see some of my favorite characters (like firion and locke) in 3d beating down the baddies. and i find it much easier to follow a story with voice over cutscenes. if i read it, i might forget something because there is so much more to follow. and the final issue, porting them. the main idea behind it was to be able to have some of my favorite games able to be carried around in my pocket. i usually dont want to have to wait till school is out and have all of my other things done to play games, i'd rather pull them out whenever i feel

If they beef up the graphics for the PSP for them I'd be happy, but it's not necessary. I just really want to be able to play them on my PSP. I haven't played any games that I really like the voice acting in. I like reading what the characters say and imagining them sounding the way I envision them.

I like the idea, I just think some are a bit impractical.

FFI and FFII were already ported onto the PSP with added stuff and updated graphics which I personally really liked. FFIII and FFIV were ported to the DS again with the same updated. FFV isn't a fan favourite I don't think like Swift mentioned and I'm not entirely sure about FFVI. I think the storyline and background to the characters would be a bit too linear for a PSP remake compared to the other Final Fantasy titles from PS1 upwards.

FFVII was already ported to the PSP through the PSN, but I think regarding FFVII people would prefer to have a next-gen graphics remake rather than graphics the PSP can handle. FFVIII and FFIX are probably going to be ported onto the PSP as well, definitely FFVIII mind as it was announced.

As for FFX it's probably fine as it is on the PS2, I think if anything they'd have to downgrade the graphics to be PSP compatible.

It's a nice idea but I think there would need to be a lot of work to upgrade all the titles to PSP standard grpahics and adding stuff. Probably time that SE can't afford to use on ports.
