So I've been a member for quite some time, since way back in 2009, which would likely mean I was hunting down information for one thing or another. My Final Fantasy played titles include Final Fantasy, II, VI about 2/3 through before my PS1 bit the dust :(, VII my favourite as it was my first, VIII, IX, X (recently finished the remaster), X-2, XII, XIII, XIII-2 and now XIV.

Anyways I am gamer and mostly on Final Fantasy XIV these days over on the Phoenix server, I have two characters there the first and primary is my level 52 (as of today) Bard Aerian. I wont go into her entire back story as it can be found on my RP writing site Elcarus Mansion. So if I'm not on Final Fantasy XIV then generally I'm Dark Souls 2 for the PS4, I recently handed over my PS3 to my daughter so the PS4 is now my primary platform due to my PC needing a serious overhaul. I have also been known to spend periods in Star Trek online.

So I also roleplay as I've mention in a Universe I've built for over 12 years, it actually started back on MSN Chat (Yes I'm sadly that old!) But writing gives me freedom to be who or what I want to be, I have two characters there I work with most of the times aside from a bunch of NPC's that help fill the central roles. Again all that can be found on the link above. This is an active roleplay and has new content added once or twice a week, I;d love this to evolve further but as yet no one has taken the offer. I also built a socila network for roleplayers and again still waiting for that to find its feet.

I'm a Game Designer by qualifications though currently trying to get my own game studio off the ground with our second project, the first is available to play on gamejolt. I'm I will put links in the advertising bit save me getting in trouble!! Our second game will be available later this year. I also work on several personal projects one of which is a remake of the SNES game Zombies Ate My Neighbours, but working alone makes this a not such an easy thing as I'm still learning to use Unity as well as coding in C#.

And the great thing is I do all of the above while married with two kids!! I will probably add more information to this over time but if there's anything else you wish to know just ask!

Hectic daily life! xD

All the best of luck for your game development endeavours! I don't think any of us here are under any illusions as to the challenges facing a startup developer, and the challenges of designing and developing games in general, but it will be awesome to have someone here to give their perspective on the process.

And nice to see another FFXIV player! Unfortunately, most people on this site are on Lamia server, but that shouldn't stop us from sharing our experiences and discussions of the game.

Welcome back to FFF~

Welcome back! Glad to have a fellow coder in the group. I work with MVC.Net daily with C# as my job. Object Oriented Program is definitely an easy trait compared to functional programming. I also play FF, though I'm on Lamia as .Fleur said.

Enjoy the stay, and if you need anything these fine folks of the forum will be here to help.

Welcome back, and yay for another fellow indie game developer! You have my respect learning Unity and C#, that's definitely on my to-do list. C# doesn't look too hard but currently I work exclusively in GML, which is quite different. But you're doing this while married and with two kids?? Impressive!

Welcome! I would recommend you play FF1, 4 and 5 as well :). While 1 is very dated, it's all shined up and pretty user friendly on the PSP version...good to see where it all began y'know? Quite a few people consider FF4 the best one, with my personal approach to a party system (you don't choose them for the most part; you have to use certain people for certain parts of the game). FF5 is really laid back and gives you tonnes of choice in terms of the job system and it almost never turns into a serious story, so that's why I recommend that one.

Anyways, a bit random, but welcome again lmao :monocle:.

Well now that's a welcome thanks guys. You really can tell I've had this account a while I also remember why I registered back in 09 trying to track down and online version of all the hidden stuff for FFIX, I also believe I may have found it here. I know have a copy stored on a cloud site.

Anyways seriously thanks for the welcome always good to see communities support one another, and it'll be fun to share about FF14 I just recently got Heavensward so pretty much focused on the central story of that for the moment, I've been on FF14 for about 6 months now but I did play the ARR beta many moons ago, sadly I never played Version 1 though I've seen that may be a blessing. I never played XI either which in retrospect I now regret.

@Shu while I'm not great with C# I can usually get things to work even if not always the way I want, thankfully my teams coder means I cant break the code for our companies games! But for my personal stuff it's all about learning as I figure c# is a useful skill to have.

@Nazca I started with GameMaker I still have Pro Studio on Steam while I was doing drag and drop it wasn't too bad but trying to learn GML just hurt my head, so originally I started learning with UE3 but if I'm honest that just hurt my brain, while it's a beautiful engine it's complex for the level I'm at right now. Then I found Unity and while deciding between it's two main languages I went for C# as it's simply more flexible.

@Sprout thanks for the recommendations, I am about 3/4 of the way through FF II right now, I intend to go through them all because of the games history alone for me makes it worth it, but more than that I think it is simply one of the best franchises in gaming, even if I think it's sort of lost it's way a little.

Late to the party, I see. :lew: Welcome back, though!

I think I'm almost done with Heavensward actually... The main story that is. Like the others I'm on Lamia myself. :D Enjoy your time around here now that you're back!
