I watched the FFvsXIII trailer today. That, plus the concept of "versus" in the eyes of SE, i couldn't help thinking that this game is could possibly based on the antagonists (or the bad guys) of Final Fantasy XIII. The story potential is there for SE to play with if they are pushing for a huge story arch to span all three games (or more).

The question is, could the Fabula Nova Chrystallis concept include a game/story driven by the antagonists and succedding in their quest, and would SE actually consider such a story if they continuing a more mature stance after Crystal Chronicles and FF-X2?

For me personally, yes. SE should do something like that, to balance both stories and goals. Though inevitably one of those would overcome the other. Plus, SE could benefit from trying different story elements in a game rather than trying new gameplay features, and might actually achieve something that's never been done in games before. However it could actually be a waste of an experience to find out after a series of games all your efforts were in vain.

I am against this whole sequels/compilation crap that is going on but that isn't a bad idea and wouldn't be surprised if it did happen. After all, Final Fantasy Versus XIII is suppose to be "opposite" to Final Fantasy XIII.

Hmmm I don't think that's what it's going to be but that would be a very cool idea. It would definitely be very interesting to see the game from the antagonist's perspective. Then again an original story that is just set in the same place as the actual story works as well.

Who knows one the of remaining titles of the "Fabula Nova Crysalis" might have that concept but if none then that's okay, who knows in the future they might make a Final Fantasy with that kind of concept... Something new, not bad... Considering change of fantasies maybe?

Spin-offs don't really sit well with me either, but taking this approach would be damn sweet to indulge in. From what I've seen in trailers, playing a villainous role could be particularly interesting for this installment, albeit unlikely.

One hopes SE has considered this as a possibility however. Being a sucker for villains in general, I'd personally love it.

You know I reconsidered my answer to this thread. We know that the spin-offs take place in the same world but in a different era with connections to the main game era. Most villains typically have long standing relationships with the worlds, much longer than the heroes themselves. This could easily be a game about the villains in a previous time and place that lead up to and explained their motivations in the main game.

Its not a sequal to XIII if anyone thinks it, but its basically the mirrior image to XIII but with a guy who is evil (or was good and turns evil) should be a real good game.

I’ve heard a lot rumors about this particular game and most of them seem to center around Square-Enix stating that “Versus” would be the darkest Final Fantasy they’ve done yet as well as it being a completely separate entity from the main XIII title.

The trailer does show and interesting view on who the main character might be, who I agree, looks like the main antagonist. However, I don’t think it’ll be solely based from the antagonist perspective. As dark as the game may turnout being, I’m sure there will still be the common protagonist prospective.

I agree though, an entire Final Fantasy based entirely from the antagonists prospective sounds interesting.

I wouldnt mind playing that sort of game... though with all this talk makes me think of an approach to it..

Game #1 - Said character is the hero, fighting to overthrow a big bad then something happens...

Game #2 - Said character is the villain, fighting to gain ultimate power to take over the world for whatever reason he/she may have... then something happens...

Game #3 - Said hero character, battles to the end only to find out the big bad he/she is fighting to overthrow is actually them, which is a fighting themselves from an alternate/parallel dimension... which has a final battle between the two...

The whole twist is that all the games are happening all at the same time with a conclusion only happening in the third game

I know sounds stupid huh, but just popped into my head while reading this... the whole scenerio would be like the Paladin Cecil vs Dark Knight Cecil from Final Fantasy 4....

Ever since I can remember I was always the one who preferred the antagonists over the protagonists. They have always been more appealing to me. I really hope this theory of yours becomes reality; it would definately raise the bar for the anticipated titles and the different story perspectives would be great.

that would be super sweet if you got to play as a bad guy... i always wanted to play as one like in FFX i wanted to play as jecht (even tho jecht wasnt really bad).

Apparently, despite all of the games being set in the same universe, none have a direct link to each other at all, just a common back drop concerning Crystals. The games themselfs are being developed seperatly from one another.

i wouldn't really like it if it were like that, i prefer if it were 2 completely different stories, cause if you beat one before the other then you would already know what was going to happen in the one you play second.
