This piece is fantastic. Seeing the mathematicians compelled me to read the second link. Great work, really.
Can I ask how you colored it? A computer program?
Yes, I colored it with a computer program. It was easier though because I had references, even though not all of them were photographs. If they were, it would probably be even easier.
Good grief, that's an astounding piece of work. You're quite the talented artist.
It's done now. I also decided to add Gaia in the background because the red on its own was too bright.
Since I didn't find any official artwork, I only looked at the sprite, and added stuff on my own. For example, I made his eyeballs black; you couldn't have told from looking at the sprite itself.

It takes me anywhere from 4-12 hours, and the mathematicians picture took me almost a month. That would be if I did it non-stop.
A man must get with the times. I missed posting stuff here.
