Safe to say since FFXIII had an amazing soundtrack Im not shocked at all, as for the song your right its simply stunning, but that voice in it... I dont know who that is but its similar to the girl who does the lyric part in "will to fight" thats my favorite FF song ever, if this reminds me of the voice so it makes me love it even more.

Its more on the calm/soothing/slow side which i generally hate, but this is one I can say is a keeper for a game, See this being played in some kind of emotional moment with serah or more likely whenever they goto to some mysterious place or something so it could be a field theme, If it is I hope the field theme would play during battle xD
 
Since we're on the topic of soundtrack...... Do you guys like the Japanese version of "New World" (XIII-2's theme song) or do you prefer the English one by Charice? I love the Charice version because usually every FF theme has some weak girly voice but she can really belt it. The JP one is also better than the other FF themes in my opinion.
 
I dont need to think about it, just about the entire jp soundtrack is better for me, after seeing recent japanese demo footage and hearing the different better music I just get jealous everytime. as for the theme song I havent listened to the english version yet But I find just about any jp theme better than the english especially sunleth waterscape and coccon de chocobo from the first one, so much better in jap x.x I got the whole song memorized for both of them (japanese) but then it plays in english i failed hard trying to sing like i always did before it came out cause it was different lyrics but a few is the same. Just the jap soundtrack will always win cause it always does >_<
 
I have to be honest that the JP and NA theme songs for XIII were awful at least to me. I very much enjoyed X's. At least they finally have a song that fits with the game because My Hands...... What does that have to do with the story?

XIII did have an awsome track especially will to fight my new favorite ^ ^ but anyway as for the music for XIII - 2 its best to see the videos CID and Milla put up in the Square Enix news section thats how heard them :)

as for some of the songs thats on youtube ill try to see what i can dig up?

English version by Charice. Low quality for now. Hope we get higher quality one soon.

As for the JP version of the theme song, it has not been uploaded individually. But you can listen to most of it in the recent trailer.

BTW, as I said before, I love both theme songs. Charice's voice is powerful and Mai's voice is soothing. The chorus is awesome too.
 
XIII had an abysmal soundtrack - if you even call it that, which I wouldn't - and honestly, I don't think these "songs" are much better. This is the same sort of generic noise that was in the first. It does nothing to distinguish itself from the multitudes of JRPG soundtracks out there; you could find similar tracks pretty much anywhere you looked. Everything about this screams "mediocre" and it isn't even remotely memorable. Pop songs just don't suit JRPGs...good ones, anyway.

The vocals here are very unimaginative, to say the least. It's not even close to the sheer brilliance that was NieR, and when compared to the likes of Ar Tonelico, whose vocal tracks play an important role in the world itself, it's bland and uninspiring. It is, in a word, meaningless. Just random noise thrown in for the sake of it, which isn't what soundtrack is supposed to be. It's supposed to either set the scene, convey a particular mood, or represent the game as a whole, and if they're using a shallow pop song to represent the game, that really doesn't say very much for it.

Soundtrack is a very important part of a game for me, which might be one of the reasons why I despised FFXIII so much: lack of story I can live with, and inexistant gameplay can be dulled by having an immersive OST for me. First impressions here are hardly positive, but then I can't say I'm surprised: when no effort whatsoever is put into anything else, it's logical that no effort would be put into the OST either. If this is the sort of thing we can expect from XIII-2, it's going to be either on-par with or worse than XIII.
 
I personally liked alot of FFXIII Soundtrack.. i play the songs all the time on duodecim :grin:
 
FFXIII-2 soundtrack so far is wonderful and I can't wait to hear the rest of it, however the battle theme for me is not up to scratch of FXIII's but it is still a tune that pumps you up for battle.

The song linked in the OP is just simply wow though, it doesn't disappoint to the Final Fantasy standard in music.
 
I agree with almost everyone I think the soundtrack is superb, my favorite being the theme that plays when Lightning is riding Odin and fighting Bahamut.
 
It may be a little bit early to call but this could be the best FF soundtrack of the series. At the very least it will be as good as FF tactics and FF IX's.
 
i liked most of the trailer songs that i heard sooo far.. but i'm not too keen on the battle theme either... but if the boss theme is the theme i think it is then that pretty kool... the lightning battle theme was pretty awesome as well i was hoping that theme was going to be the main battle theme of the game, but the main theme of the game i'm in love with :inlove:
 
I actually enjoyed this song. I imagine myself in a dark ice cave or something. I kind of feel like if the areas in FFXIII-2 last long enough in-game, I'll really appreciate the atmosphere. A lot of the other tracks sound ridiculous (in a good or bad way), and I find that quite interesting. I'll see if I can put up with it.
