Okay, this locking system is balls.

Maybe it's just me. Maybe I'm too used to DMC, where you hold down the button and automatically lock onto a target.

Personally, I find this a bit annoying. It's very disorienting, not to mention that I get stuffed full of lead when I should be taking out these guys with no sweat.

Don't get me wrong, I've played such games like this before. I'm currently going through DMC on DMD mode: No easy task. But this just blows.

So, my question. Can this aiming system be changed? Or must I grow some seriously l33t skillz?

I'm not sure if you can change it to auto lock on....I'm pretty sure I had issues with it aswel, I'm too used to Time Splitters :wacky:

It was a bit of a night mare aimin for idiots that were far away, expecially when there are people and exploding barrels coming at you from the left -__-

I don'd think the Squenix guys have played any FPS if you ask me

I'm not too sure if you can change any setting with the lock-on system but I'm fairly sure you can toggle the speed of your reticle. This may help.

That was my main beef with the game, the fact that the crosshairs move so slowly.

I never had an issue with it. After configuring the reticle to my requirements, it never phased me.

I'm always jolting the analogue stick around anyway, so s'all good.

Meh, I found it ok, considering that most of the shooters I play are first person games like house of the dead, and Halo where there is no lock on... I actually found the lock on making it easier...

I probably could have made it without it, cause DoC is easier the Kingdom Hearts... And that's REALLY easy.
But yeah, Squenix has never made a shooter before, they make everything an RPG... Even this game was half RPG imo, what with all the leveling and stats and whatnot.

But I digress, to answer your question, I think you can make the aiming system have either no lock on, lock on to nearby objects, or always be locked on if there is a nearby enemy. Then again, I'm not 100% sure, as I haven't played the game in quite some time.

I don't recall having any problems with it, I thought it was easy to aim in it actually, and I'm not fond of those aiming systems where it automatically lock up on your target, because there will be no challenge.

I'm not too sure as I only played the game several hours, but I think in the third-person mode, the auto-target option apparently makes it easier. However, as far as any other option than that, I don't think you can change the auto-lock on system.

Here is a review about the subject by hozhoz from GameFaqs.

The aiming has no option to switch to separate targets and this is a problem when locking-on to a target is very hard if they are grouped together.

So...you'll just have to get used to it. =/ I don't recall having any serious problems with it, but it can be annoying at first, especially if you are a beginner and there are a bunch of enemies coming towards you. I got used to it though.

The aiming system was total BS -__- It took me so long to lock onto a target that I was dead before I could get a single shot in. Eventually I just said screw it and ran into the middle of the enemies and hoped for the best :neomon:

Like Mitsuki said, you'll just have to deal with it. It's very annoying, but it shouldn't cause you TOO many problems.

Okay. Thanks for the help guys. I know this game is 'old' but I just got it from a friend and I'm finding it awkward. The non-professionalism I suppose, with SE making it and all.......

Anyways, ja, thanks again. My hopes have died. I must develop leet skillz. (Meanwhile, where'd that walkthrough go to....?)

But what's with this 'rubbish' in the title? Rubbish? Rubbish??!?!

I'm AMERICAN you spoony bard! Not a Brit!!

sheesh....

You'll have to live with it. As Mits has already pointed out, it can be annoying for beginners but it doesn't take that much getting used to and neither is the locking system that difficult.

Also; the title was changed because there were more appropriate words to use. Please refrain from turning this into an American/Brit thing, it has nothing to do with that whatsoever.

It was hard for me at first starting to play the game with the slow aiming so i changed the speed and it made it somewhat easier.

I thought the Aiming was fine, It didn't accuarly bother me.
You'll probably get used to it after a while and I accuarly find it much more challenging when there isn't a auto-lock on.
