This is it, the moment of truth for every Final Fantasy VII fan, the question more important than the meaning of life (Not really).

The tomboy or the more feminine flower girl?

Black hair or Brunet?

Big breasts or Ghetto Booty?

Fist of steel or staff of kick ass? Or was it a rod... I can't remember! Dx

Make the decision that Cloud Strife can't make! (For yourself)

Aerith or Tifa! HIYAH!

Wait... I have to choose too?

....

Dammit.

Tifa...but not for the reasons you think!

I just generally thought she was a bit more down to earth, and she was pretty modest considering...y'know. I preferred her limit break too, you can really rack some damage (get it?) if you can chain her attacks together.

Plus, Aeris annoyed the heck out of me by being too flirty. Overly-friendly girls are annoying.
Plus, what the hell was she doing trying to jump Cloud? Why is Zack so under-appreciated?!
Plus, Aeris loses major points for dying halfway through the game and therefore being a complete waste of time, money, and effort.

And yes that was three pluses.

Definitely Tifa.

Aerith was sweet and all, but she made advances towards Cloud that were uncomfortable viewing in my opinion.

On the flip side, Tifa was a good friend with him and didn't make any inappropriate gestures. She's a very down to earth character, cared about everyone around her and was extremely useful in a battle. Her Limit Breaks were fantastic. I also much prefer fighters to healers, anyway.

Aerith because:

1). Something happens to her to make you feel sorry for her.

2). She's rather sweet.

3). She has class and a nice dress.

Tifa seems to be more that kind of girl that you keep as one of your guy buddies.

I was always more drawn to Aerith than I was with Tifa. I can't really explain why, I just found her more interesting and I always had a soft point for white mages so you know, that probably factors in somewhere too. I don't hate Tifa I just prefer Aerith to her if I had to choose between them. Oh and lol at Aerith's bar being pink while Tifa's is blue in the poll.

Tifa, but definitely not because of her boobs. A little lame comparison if you ask me. :hmph: "Pretty face or Busty girl?" Are you kidding me, :gasp: Have you ever looked at Tifa's face? She's drop dead gorgeous.

What really got me hooked on Tifa was her fighting style. I love the Martial Arts fighters, and I've done it myself for a few years as well. Her outfit looks bad ass, and I would never pick a Healer over a Martial Artist.

Don't get me wrong though, Aerith is really pretty too. But there's something about Tifa that just makes her more likeable for me than Aerith does. She's too 'help me' like for me, so I'll agree with Ami on that.

On top of that, Tifa's limit break is absolutely awesome! :ryan:

Love her personality. She's so down to earth. <3

That wasn't a serious comparison anyways I just felt like mentioning the fact she has --- eyes. She has very nice and big eyes, yeah her eyes. They be all pretty and stuff. -ahem- Anyways...

Tifa gets my vote too. I just can't deny my weak points for nice athletic tomboys who can use their entire body as a weapon and doesn't need anybody to save them.

Sorry Aerith :sad3:

Point of order, Tifa is not a tomboy. She is a kick butt martial artist, but not a tomboy.

Black hair or Brunet?

Both are technically Brunettes.

Big breasts or pretty face?

Errr, that's an extremely loaded question. The way you frame it implies Tifa does not have a pretty face. How about Big Breasts or Ghetto Booty (which Aerith

Fist of steel or staff of kick ass? Or was it a rod... I can't remember! Dx

It's a staff, or she wields it as such. Rods are typically shorter and wielded one handed.

Make the decision that Cloud Strife can't make! (For yourself)

Point of order, he's made that decision.

FYI: When I end a post with HIYAH I'm not being that serious. I wasn't implying anything about Tifa...

And she felt like a tomboy to me, nothing wrong with being a tomboy if you are one...

I didn't think you were being serious. I just felt like nitpicking.

But yeah, both are feminine. One's just a kick butt girly girl while the other's a flowers and price gouging girly girl.

Tifa is more of a tom-boy, though. Aerith is more lady-like, the creators have even said Aerith's more ladylike.

I pick Aerith because she's the leading heroine of the game. She saved people she didn't have to, and she sacrificed herself for the whole world, that's a heroine.

But not only that, but I've gotta pick Aerith because she's just prettier than Tifa. To me, there's nothing memorable about Tifa's looks. :/ She seems so bland. Aerith seems so magical, I mean, Aerith's eyes are amazing!

I really like the fact that Aerith isn't wearing skimpy outfits to try and look beautiful--she's pretty just by wearing a very lady-like dress. Instead of wearing a mini skirt or tight belly shirt, she literally has to let her features like her smile and eyes work for her.Plus, I think it's safe to say she has a pretty smile, if Cloud thinks so then I suppose I will :ryan:

I also pick Aerith because she's really strong willed, optimistic, selfless, innocent, and kind towards everyone. She was never a cry baby and complained about her terrible life. She always cared for others, and even put them before herself. She never tried to give anyone any ultimatums. And she never blames anyone, even when it could be their fault.
I mean, it shows how sweet Aerith is when she faces a man that never even so much as sent her a letter while they were dating, and she never got angry at him, she treated him as a friend. That's classy.

That's it, Aerith is just a very classy lady. She's classically beautiful, kind, selfless, and sweet. If the world had more Aerith-type hearts, it'd be a happier place.

Where have they said Aerith is more 'ladylike', exactly? Could you provide a quote and/or source?

Aside from the rest of your post, which is pretty much opinion or true statements (though true statements I'd argue applied as much to Tifa) I have one major nitpick.

Aerith did not sacrifice herself.
I know there's a big draw for the Jesus Allegory there, but Jesus intended to be killed, to fulfill the awkward Blood Price he as his father had put on all humanity (At least in the modern trinity understanding. Older and gnostic ideas of the meaning differ, and at least one gospel has his last words as protest rather than pleading with... himself... to forgive everyone.) but Aerith's death was plain murder. No noble self sacrifice to save others, no intentional giving of her life, she was stabbed straight in the back and that is the point the creators have hammered us with over the years. Death sucks. It's sudden. It's not pretty. People don't come back.
Tellah? He sacrificed himself. He knew full well Meteo would kill him to cast. He did it anyways.
Aerith, she died in the line of duty. Very honorable, very respectable, but not Sacrifice.

Ry, this is a thread about WHY WE would choose either of these women. I've given my reasons, they're all true. So stop demanding explinations in an opinion thread. Because I could careless about anyone's "nitpicks".

When I said "sacrifice" I meant, Aerith knew all the dangers she was going to face when she left Cloud BUT SHE STILL DID IT.

THAT is what makes it a sacrifice.

I call it a sacrifice when Aerith gave herself up just so Marlene wouldn't be hurt. THAT'S a sacrifice. Aerith risked her own life/freedom for someone else, again, that's a sacrifice.

See, I'm right. :ryan:

Also, I think when her smile is compared to a flower it's safe to say she's got a beautiful smile. Now, I'm not saying Tifa doesn't have a pretty smile, but the creaters, more importantly, Cloud and Co., has never said so. Hence why I'm leaning towards Aerith, she's got true beauty.

Yes, it's an opinion thread, but basing your opinion on something that's not true like 'I like Aerith because she has green hair' is rather silly.

And I understand Aerith understood the risks and was willing to lose her life for the good of the cause, but that is distinctly different psychologically and emotionally from sacrificing yourself, INTENDING to die.
And this is a rather important story point. Aerith's death is tragic, sudden, painful, and clear cut murder. Her deeds should be admired and respected, but not her death. That should be lamented, and mourned, not celebrated.

That's the difference between her capture and her death. She gave herself up to ShinRa to save Marlene, as a necessary part of the act. Her murder at the hands of Sephiroth was in no way necessary or intended on Aerith's part. That's what keeps it from being a sacrifice. Intent. Willingness to die is not intent to die, and Aerith intended to come back alive.

As for the true beauty aspect, you're now conflating beauty with femininity, and are you honestly trying to tell me that the creators have never said anything about Tifa's appearance in a positive manner?

Somebody's taking all the fun out of a boob vs booty thread. :rage:

I think my answer is obvious if my Aerith collection is any indication. :ryan:

Cali I totally get what you're saying when you say she just seems magical. And her eyes :ohoho: If only those eyes were real, they're such a vivid green. You don't get too many of those in FF.

Her personality really grabbed me. She found something about Cloud that attracted her to him and she went for it. Throughout the game she makes subtle advances on him and it shows that she goes for what she wants. Tifa I felt had no back bone. She's his child hood friend, they have history together, and the woman does squat. As soon as I found out their history later on in the game, and it's clear of her feelings for him I couldn't help but feel angry at her all "ffs go for the man if you love him, don't sit back for 2 disks, you slag :gasp:"

Keep in mind, Channizard, that those two discs are over the course of around a month where A: she knows he's not quite right in the head ATM and B: does grow that spine and make her move.

What have I said that's not true? 8( Her smile is pretty, like a flower, and she does have amazing eyes(wish I had those eyes for mehself)

you seem to have ignored the part where Aerith sacrificed her freedom/life to protect Marlene. That's a clear sacrifice.

Ry, you're a Tifa fanboy, you tell me if they ever have said anything positive about Tifa's looks, while you're at it, bring up quotes of Cloud(or anyone else)comparing Tifa's smile to something beautiful like a flower, or just things like that.

I'm not a Tifa fan, so I really wouldn't know if any of the creaters have ever said anything like it, however, from the game and what I've read, I don't believe any of the characters have either. :hmmm: Could be wrong, but right now, I have no reason to believe I am.

Cali I totally get what you're saying when you say she just seems magical. And her eyes :ohoho: If only those eyes were real, they're such a vivid green. You don't get too many of those in FF.
Yes, I agree. I've never seen such a pretty jade color as eye color before. So pretty. :ryan:

Personally I liked Tifa better :hmmm: I liked her personality a lot better, and I found her to be a lot more useful in battle. I did think Aeris's actions were quite noble, however she just didn't have all that much charisma for me, I tend to not care for the white mages in games, or the more delicate feminine characters who tend to be included mainly for the sake of love interests.

Aerith. She's a great character, although I love Tifa's awesomeness. :gasp:

Aerith is a sweat person, who speaks funny (This guy are sick) and she is spunky. She be cool.

But, Tifa is my second favorite female in the game (Yuffie first xD)... :hmm

What have I said that's not true? 8( Her smile is pretty, like a flower, and she does have

amazing eyes(wish I had those eyes for mehself)

You've said an opinion, a metaphor, and another opinion. Those are not the things I was calling you out for.

you seem to have ignored the part where Aerith sacrificed her freedom/life to protect Marlene. That's a clear

sacrifice.

Which is irrelevant to the statment in your initial post about and she sacrificed herself for the whole world.

I am saying that she did not. Because she did not. And I make this point because it is a very salient point about the

plot.

Ry, you're a Tifa fanboy, you tell me if they ever have said anything positive about Tifa's looks,

while you're at it, bring up quotes of Cloud(or anyone else)comparing Tifa's smile to something beautiful like a

flower, or just things like that.

Cal, you're not one to call anyone a fanboy, since you're far more a fangirl than I could be a fanboy. I'm a fan of Aerith as well, but you, by your own admission, are not a Tifa fan.
My question about 'Are you telling me' was a rhetorical one. I did not expect you to provide me with information. The point was to try and trigger some reflection, to get you to look outside the bubble answer you've constructed for yourself. It apparently hasn't an effect. Also, the point of comparison of the smile to the flower was its RARITY in Midgar.

I'm not a Tifa fan, so I really wouldn't know if any of the creaters have ever said anything like it, however,

from the game and what I've read, I don't believe any of the characters have either. :hmmm: Could be wrong, but right

now, I have no reason to believe I am.

And you won't go looking. Because you've already made your decision. And that, more than anything, is why we rankle.

To Fiore Below: I sigh, and reiterate her decision was not to sacrifice herself. Her intention was to return alive. Accepting the risk to die on behalf of the world is not the same as deciding to die to accomplish the same.
