A bit of bad news. (I think)

(FIRSTLY, What i'm saying here is based on what we know now. Things may change for the better, or only get worse. Now, onto the post.)



I hate to be the one to say this, but to be blunt, the RPG & Shoutbox will likely be removed soon. This is not a decision any of us really want to make, but seeing that a critical factor in it's operation has now went belly-up, we don't have much else to do.

Here is a quick explanation.

The creators of the RPG Inferno and the Shoutbox have split.
Now this would normally not be bad, except for that the original designer took down the main support site, and the files required for the RPG and Shoutbox to function could stop working at any moment. These files are hosted on a separate server, and although some of us have tried to get them in hopes of rehosting them, attempts have not been successful.

Once those servers stop working, the RPG and Shoutbox will cease to function.

So, in order to be prepared for this event, we are currently looking for a new shotubox, and while we can't find a replacement RPG just yet, we may have found something else that may catch your eye.

(Again, things could change, but at the moment, they seem unlikely, so we are not preparing for the worse case scenario.)

Ohh, and anybody whining " OMFG< WAAAAAAA, I WANT THEM BACK NAOAO" or whatnot will be promptly slapped :eek:uttahere:



So just relax and cross your fingers and hope things get fixed :math:

That something that will catch your eye will catch your eye and also likely induce hours of destroying each-other in a game of uber l33t skill.

We'll get a new SB if the current one fails.

And we'll probably become purple people eaters :wacky:

We don't know any exact date at all when and if it'll happen. I've e-mailed Zero from Inferno. I just need to wait on a response which I'll hopefully get. In the meantime, you're all aware in case it does stop working.

The RPG Directors will most likely be moved to regular mod spots for the sections they feel they can help out with most. I hope that answers your questions.
 
As stated above, it really is out of our hands. Some staff members have tried to prevent it but... it seems inevitable at this stage that unpreventable changes are going to happen shortly.

So basically, make the most of the RPG while you still can, as it may not be with us for much longer. The replacement for it that has been lined up is something you'll all find very interesting and it's more directly related to Final Fantasy. That's all I'm saying on the matter. :cassy:

As for the Shoutbox, a replacement is also lined up. No thrills, just a bog standard thingamajig that does the job properly and as efficiently as the one we currently have. :D

These changes, and possibly multiple others, could coincide with something much bigger that may happen sooner rather than later, so who knows, much better days could be in store for FFF in the very near future. :neomon:
 
I'm pretty sure there are more RPG thingy majigs... My friend had a list of a couple with the one that your using now, the Inferno one right... If all back fires just PM me or something and I bet i could find another one... and a new SB wouldn't even take a day to find... Dunno if i could get one as good as your current one though, not without some CHACHING! >>> $$$ <<<
 
Yeah, it is quite disheartening to see such a nice feature go "KA-BOOM" but things like this happen. In the meantime we will do all within our power to solve this situation as fast as possible. Replacing the SB might not be that hard, but finding another feature like Inferno now that is a different story.

So lets get our fingers crossed dudes :monster:

Il die wiothout the shoutbox...but Isuppose these things can't be helped, thanks for the warning anyway, just imagine all the threads in the Help Desk thingy ZOMG TEH SHOUBOX HAS DISSAPEARED....actually, we will peobably get them anyway...haha

Replacing the Shoutbox is a simple affair, I can't see us going more than a day without one, to be honest. So don't worry so much about that. :cassy:
 
God, a lot of people will die from losing the shoutbox if it does eventually go.

Why not have a chatroom? I know most people don't like it, but the feature could be temporary until you find another shoutbox.
 
Fair nuf. i have faith that the SB will be fixed...i'll be sad to see the RPG go bye bye for a while :(

If you remember, the chatroom took up a lot of bandwidth. Which is why we went back to using a shoutbox.
 
I care little for the RPG, but I know how much it meant to people.

As for the SB...damn. Ah well, back to more MSN usage then.
 
I think it's already been stated, but we've got an alternative lined up for the shoutbox, so we won't lose it entirely ;D
