Here is a question, the fuck is a bus monitor? Do they monitor who gets on and off the bus? I come from the largest city in the US in regards to land, and as such, buses are a difficult option for the city.

I hate to say it, and no I don't intend that this is her fault, but why would you take a job like this knowing how kids are? If you take any job with any kind of kids, do you really expect them all to behave? Could she not speak with the bus driver and have the situation resolved if she could not stand up for herself?
"Could have done, should have done" and "It's easy to say that if you're not in that situation" are things it's easy to say, but in all truth, how long is she going to let this go on? According to the job description for Bus Monitor on eHow, it includes: "As a bus monitor their duties will place them in situations that will require decision making ..." If she can't decide how to save herself in the face of adversity, I'm loathe to think she'd be able to save me, or anyone else, from a rolled bus, incapacitated driver or whatever else, after enduring it alongside.
I notice lots of comments both there (Youtube) and here downing on kids these days, but given her earlier generation, shouldn't she have the willpower to protect herself, even in a professional manner, besides saying she knows where THEY all live as well? No, not everyone is raised that way, right, but then why does generation come into play? I've known more respectful kids than little shits, and don't actively place myself with the little bastards

Which is why she should have resolved the situation earlier, no? Reaching your breaking point because you are a pacifist isn't something I'd ever encourage, she had other options aside from taking it silently is the point.
Speak with the bus driver, have them return to the school is one.

No, not really, but I'm willing to bet that 9/10 times they'll leave her alone afterwards, if only from the threat that they'll be waiting for hours for someone to come get them. Will the kids change? Not really, but it gets them to lay off the monitor, which would be the point of her seeking outside assistance. There are rules in place to protect her, just as there are rules to protect the kids. She didn't take advantage of them. Is it her fault? Detention doesn't work. We had a teacher at school who had a mustache (she was a woman) do you think when she sent the kids to detention for teasing her they stopped after when they got out? No. They brought her to tears on a regular basis. Though what woman doesn't wax their mustache off I dunno. But the point is kids don't care.
I was not implying that detention would scare them, as it did not scare me when I was a little shit. What I was saying is the abrupt return to school would be such an inconvenience that it would deter them, but would likely not change them. Those who want to go home would encourage leaving her alone.

Inconveniencing themselves randomly is more effective than a planned stay at school, as one expects it and it affects only the selected students. They were bullying in a group, aye, because there was no one opposing them. This creates that party, and possible even out of previous bullies.

They were pretty feral at her. You know sometimes people can have all the training in the world and it still doesn't prepare them for the first time something happens. And it's not like they were just being kids, they were literally being evil :S

There is nothing she could have done in that situation. The whole point of a bus monitor is so that the bus driver has nothing to do but drive. In my experience, bus drivers don't want to listen to any complaints anyone on their buses have. Deserved physical punishment is not allowed (which I believe would teach them right from wrong the only proper way) and detention is more fun than punishment, because you get to stay with all your mates and laugh and joke. Finally, if she had shouted at them, it would have brought more attention to the situation, potentially bringing more twats to her or make the bullies get more physical.

Sadly this is how kids can be. When I was little a lot of kids were like that. They appeared to get worse with every generation and teachers could do less and less to punish them.
That behaviour is terrible to see though. Where do they think they are? An online forum?!
Though they were very foolish posting this up on Facebook, along with some of their faces being seen on the video.

If her entire job is to take off the other responsibilities of the driver by taking the form of a clay pigeon, she's done that well. If her job is to manage the children, she's done that terribly. You cannot simply say "there is naught she could have done" because there are many things she could have done. Taking it passively until you reach the point of crying is only one.
I don't approve of the kids behavior, nor do I blame her for how she handled it as I don't know her, but there are many different and many better ways of handling it aside from taking it all in. I understand her situation, and I pity her, but she could have easily had this canned at the 3 minute mark.

I think leaving 700 threatening messages for a child is even worse than what happened to that poor woman. That's 700 people effectively doing the same thing they are condemning this child. I was a brat when I was thirteen, nowhere near that bad but still quite bold. I think I grew up to be a nice enough guy, I can't imagine what I'd be like if I had 700 threats directed at me over a day or two.
