Square’s been registering more new trademarks in relation to Final Fantasy Type-0, following the registering of a trademark and logo related to the same name at the end of December.

Three new trademarks and logos by the name of Type-1, Type-2 and Type-3 have been registered by Square in Europe, making the whole scenario even more intriguing. The publisher registered earlier this month the finalfantasytype0.com and finalfantasytype-0.com domains, both of which are linked to Square’s Japanese headquarters.

It was discovered earlier this week it had also registered the domain “FinalFantasy13-2game.com”, suggesting that a XIII-2 announcement may not be far off.We should hopefully find out what it’s up to when it has its scheduled First Production Department Event this Tuesday.

Interesting...although also somewhat disappointing. It seems very unlikely that these "type" things are going to be full games, given how many of them have been suddenly trademarked at once...it does seem more likely that they're going to be chapters of one game - similar to how The After Years was released on WiiWare. Which means they're just going to be one giant grab for money if you have to buy them separately...which you probably will have to.

Well, this has certainly dulled my expectations significantly for the mysterious Type-0, although I shouldn't really be surprised...

But gods, please, don't let them be connected to FFXIII. Square Enix could release as many prequels, sequels and expansions as they'd like, and it's still going to be absolutely crap. IT'S A LOST CAUSE. MOVE ON.

.... FINAL FANTASY VII LOVE TRIANGLE NOVELS!

*camouflages with bulletproofvests*

In all seriousness, I have no idea what they're up to now, but in all honest I'm getting more tired and tired of their new Final Fantasies, the older ones were awesome, exciting and had something new, all this new crap, is well... crap to me.

Lets hope it's something nice they're up to.

I'm pretty puzzled as to why they would trademark the individual numbers (as well as start from zero) if this does out to be a novel of some kind, unless it's coming out in parts for more $$$. And I really can't see them all being individually full games either. I'm swaying to the idea that they're all parts of a bigger name, whatever that might be. Is it any coincidence that these trademarks came out at a similar time to FFXIII-2?

You never know, there's rumours of a new entry into the FFXIII compilation called "Final Fantasy XIII: Seasons" Linked to that possibly? :wacky:

Final Fantasy XIII-2....? :ffs:

I hadn't even heard about that, but dear god, if it's got something to do with that game, I'm not interested period. It wasn't what I expected at all, and that's not even from playing experience, watching a playthrough, and I got bored. =/

I wonder, though. It'd be awesome if it were to be like a new series.... :wacky:

Four types, four seasons? That is quite possible...never mind that it doesn't make any sense for the seasons to be referred to as "types" and that it makes even less sense for them to start at 0 and go up to 3; it doesn't make any sense to call the second Dissidia game "Dissidia 012 Duodecim" either. Bloody Square Enix not making any friggin' sense :hmph:

...I'm still going to keep praying these two things are totally unrelated, though. I'd prefer to forget the disaster that was Square Enix in 2010 and hope they've got something better lined up for this year...

I know, I'm far too optimistic about all this.

This interests me. This could most probably be Final Fantasy XIII sesons like Ryan said. 4 trademarks and 4 seasons. I was kind of thinking these could be extra stories to find out what happens after XIII. Like Episode I left with a mysterious ending.. maybe II III and IV are next? What is 0 though? I am well interested now. Hopefully we get more news at the conference. Maybe an announcement to Final Fantasy XIII-2. :hmmm:

Seeing Type-o I had some ideas, but this just proved the concept of something completely useless. Like a crappy novel series or some online garbage. This just reeks of SE trying to do something "new" with the franchise. Bleugh.

I'm wondering... each of these "type 1, 2, and 3" registered trademarks... they're all separate games... or what?

That's what we're all speculating about as well. If each of them are full games in themselves then good God, are they trying to kill themselves with overworking over in Tokyo? Have they ever heard of the mantra of quality over quantity? Still, I'm guessing that they may not even be games at all and could possibly exist to bridge the gap between FFXIII and a possible sequel? Like I said, it shouldn't be any coincidence that these Types trademarks have emerged at a similar time to the FFXIII-2 ones.

And I'm with Martel here. It could well be something to do with the "Final Fantasy XIII: Seasons" thing. So...a novel in four parts? Why even call them Type-0, 1, 2 and 3 anyway? Last time I checked, the seasons have names. And starting from 0 is just odd. But this is SE. They're not exactly known for common sense. If it has anything to do with Seasons, I expect some weak and bullshit reason for these names.

All right, thanks for the reply. :hmmm: I'm kinda hoping they're separate games and also... something new and fresh.

Oh gosh...as long as it isn't connected to Final Fantasy XIII/-2, It won't be so bad.

Maybe the 1, 2, 3 are books. Or better yet the 1, 2 and 3 remakes of the FF titles xD

I would love to see another remake of 3 since I won't see one of 5 or 6 lol

The first one is Type-0 and it goes up to 3? Sounds like the programmers got a hold of the title, due to programming usually starting at 0 and going up, instead of starting at 1. As for there being 4 of them, and a earlier comment said something about FF XIII: Seasons, it could very well be 4 smaller games that link FF XIII to FF XIII-2 or could actually be FF XIII-2 itself. Who knows? We'll just have to find out on Tuesday!

Or maybe will we be getting Final Fantasy games like the old GB games, like Adventure. I would buy those. Adventure was actually really good, enjoyed it very much and I adore the graphics to it as well.

The titles sound like a Crystal Chronicles game or something. :hmm:

There is also the possibility that these are all the same game. Similar to the Pokemon games, the main story will be the same, there will just be slight adjustments in what you can do, where you go, who you can recruit for your party, etc. Four versions of the same game is most definetely overkill, but one version for every Warrior of Light (since there are traditionally four in the earlier FF games) is definetely a possibility.

This doesn't explain why they start at Type-0, though. Although to be honest, I doubt Square Enix themselves will be able to explain this. Still, it's just a thought that occured to me ♥

...yeah, now that this seasons stuff has been brought up, I'm trying frantically to find another possible idea with at least some credibility. The time, the number of games, the rumour of the title...it all matches up far too nicely for my liking...

I still think that all these "type" games are gonna be some kind of PSP/DS game........If SE wanna continue wasting time on side titles rather than major ones (e.g. versus XIII + whatever other ones) its only them who are gonna end up losing money and shit.

Question:
If they are going to make a Final Fantasy XIII-2 wouldn't they have just registered the domian name later?

SE might make it for the 3DS...new projects for either 3DS or even freeking PSP2...

I doubt it will be novels,,,FF7 AC had novels, but where are those special trademarks?

This must be something entirely new like a freeking handheld project..

FF13 seasons? Im almost pissing myself..:lew: although I heard rumours...ugh whatever I dont even want to hear anything about FF13 except for the VERSUS part..

Versus is their last shot and chance imo for SE to redeem themselves...And Agito as well..Agito seems awesome even though .....handheld :hmph:

All this reregistering has me nervous. Just what is Squee-nix up to? If it has anything to do with XIII I'll be really disappointed... and unsurprised.
