Insert major face-palm picture here. :hmph:

I'm not a huge DQ fan, but I was sort of looking forward to DQ X because DQ IX was really enjoyable, but this is just .... stupid. Doesn't SE learn from their mistakes at all ? :thehell:

FF XI and FF XIV did terribly compared to offline Final Fantasy games, and FF XIV was a complete mess.

Level 5 should become the new Squaresoft, because Squareenix are just doing a horrible job and they're just destroying their RPG series step by step. Squareenix just want money... they don't give a crap about the fans anymore... they just want to make the next World of Warcraft and watch the money pour in while they slip red wine and laugh manically.

Squareenix are the people that Squaresoft symbolized in Final Fantasy VII. Yes, they are now just like the Shrina company. They think that the public are total and complete fools, and they're do anything to manipulate anything to get a few bucks in. I can actually picture Wada in President Shrina's suit, listening to opera music, and praying that the FF and DQ fans are so stupid, that they'll buy anything, including this DQ X online crap.

Level 5... just, make a independent RPG please and save us from this SquareEnix mess.

I'd say it's level-5's fault to begin with because of Dragon Quest IX. DQIX would've been much better off without the multiplayer part, and it would've been better if they had given actual characters like their masterpiece, Dragon Quest VIII. Dragon Quest X is following in IX's footsteps and "improving" on the multiplayer. I say that in quotes because it's just straying away from one of the few traditional style RPG series left. If anything, I hope they add an offline mode. Constant internet connections are bullshit.

This made me laugh for a few minutes, partly also because they don't seem to have a clue how the video game industry works. Why the heck would Sony's game business lose customers because the next Dragon Quest game would not hit the PS3? It was known since 2008 that it would be a Nintendo exclusive anyway. Plus they have Tales of Xillia coming out soon over there, the PS3 will be fine anyway, so that had me bewildered.

The fact that Square Enix's share price also dropped by 10% from yesterday since the announcement is mildly amusing. I guess we can sort of gather from this that there is already some uncertainty about an online DQ game and I really want Famitsu magazine to go out there now and interview some people in Tokyo to get what the average Japanese gamer Joe thinks.

Apparently the first few bits of the game can be played offline. Everything else will require a mandatory internet connection and perhaps a monthly subscription to go with it. That's like...paying full price for a retail demo of the game, and then having to fork out more money per month just to play the full game. No thank you.

Oh yay, I was actually getting excited for the new Dragon Quest game only to find that it's a game that I'll hate for two good reasons:

-It's for the wii
-It's online-only

Really? why must SE focus on fucking Online play now? It didn't work for FFXI, or even FFXIV. So, why in the hell ruin DQ with this crap. Whelp, SE just lost some respect from me. :hmph:

Ok if Level-5 is really still the work behind this (which I hope they are) I can see this game actually working out for the better... But Squares history of Online RPG's tells me not hold my breath or anything... Then again I wonder how an online DQ game would work? the games battle system really doesn't get updated all the much... very turn base fighting style...

I love Dragon Quest's battle system. What they've done to it is dumbed it down even more so it looks like a boring version of FFXII's battle system. And it's only Square Enix and Armor Project developing it (the latter has always worked on them).
