[03/11] Tetsuya Nomura sketches Lightning for Final Fantasy’s 25th anniversary

Tetsuya Nomura has sketched Lightning not once, but twice this year.


The first one, on display for Dengeki’s 20th anniversary, depicts Lightning in her XIII attire.

The second one was on display yesterday at the Distant Worlds THE CELEBRATION event in London, which included Isamu Kamikokuryou’s Lightning Returns painting. It looks somewhat different than anything she’s appeared in before, so is this perhaps a hint toward her look in the new game?

Honesrly the belts and zipper thing is going around several JRPGs. Its nothing unique to him.

Wow, those are some pretty awesome sketches! :3 I wish I could sketch characters like that. >.< The last sketch makes Lightning look pretty badass, I'll have to admit.

Im sure Nomura has done ple ty of sketches throughout the years. Its just that there are some he chooses to promote. Honestly their not that great. If he made a full illustration like he does with the kingdom hearts covers, then i'd be whelmed.

If I'm totally honest about it, his sketches of Lightning just make her look more like Cloud than she already does. The first one in particular reminds me of Cloud's Crisis Core artwork, where he looks slightly younger. He's probably not doing the character any favours by making this cloning more obvious than what it already is.
