    it's better to read them after the books. there's some minor spoilers of what's to come but nothing major. also, there's the little sisters of eluria which is a short story set just before the gunslinger which is pretty good as well.

    yeah, part 1 is basically just the fourth book but 2-7 are everything that happens between wizard and glass and the gunslinger. the best part is that stephen king actually worked on the story for them, so they're not total horseshit.
