Ok first thing's first I have some questions a few of which the game doesn't answer.

1st.

Chocobo Races, I just tried to enter my Level 25 Chocobo but he keeps failing in the first races, so does anyone have any suggestions on how I should "Breed" my bird or how I can improve my chances.

2nd.

Closing Gates, I'm wondering what's the benefits of Closing a gate also if I close a gate and clear it can I go back to before I closed the gate again. I'm just sorta nervous as to if I close it if I'll have to re unlock other stages again xD.

3rd.

Are their any better medics aside from Cait Sith x.x?

((so you know where I'm at I just killed the Giant Flan with Snow))

Any help would be a godsend

Oh I agree about the medic thing, my Cait Sith is about level 35 and it's still pretty useless. I don't know why but Cura is one of the last abilities it learns.

I've seen a few other medics though, can't remember specifically what they were though.

Ok can't help you with the chocobos at all, I am not that far yet. As far for closing gates, that allows you to basically replay the level over. So any boss fights that were in there you can just redo. When you open them yes it will remember everything you did prior to the closing of the gate.

As for finding a better medic, there is one on the bodum beach area the shallows I think it's called. It's the second route you have to take to get to the gate the second time around. There is a rare enemy appearance called Exoray. Just remember to use your Feral Links to increase your chances of getting it, it took me two pops for him for me to get him.

There is only one man, not two. It's called the Exoray, what I meant by the shallows was that was the specific area in that gate where you can hunt him. As he will only appear in that small segment and no where else in that gate area. Sorry for the confusion on that part.

i cant help on the chocobos but i actually got my medic that i used throughout the entire game where you are. Its a Flan that has like a siren always going off, i forgot what its real name is, but its green. its a fairly good medic, low hp for me though, but got the job done. Oh and its fanatic power thing is quickly charged and is like a mega heal that heals your whole party a decent amount.

when you close a gate it essentially resets you. So you go through and beat it then go back to the timeline and close it and its like you were never there. You see all the cutsscenes again and fight the bosses again. Then opening it back up puts you right back where you were before closing it.

Cool I'll look for it as well thanks :D

lol looks like my Medic woe's are away.

kinda sad that they're so scarce in the start :O

actually throughout the game. I go through my monsters list now and my flan is the only one. Flan and that cat are all ive seen people use so maybe there the only ones.

added about closing gates on my first post as well.

Actually I found a rather unique medic in Bodehm(sp?)

its name is Cactuarina and is a Level 3 Material Monster and yes it is a medic oddly enough

Suffice to say its a Cactuar and it knows the spells Cure,Raise, and a few other spells I can't remember (I think Cheer is one of them) not only that but it has around 1100 HP when you get it.

It's Special Skill's are 2 very handy traits, Feral Speed II and Improved Raise

along with that it's Feral Link attack is Hypnotic Dance which damages opponents and causes various status ailments((again was very helpful to me))

I plan on raising my Cait Sith to Cura and infusing it into my Cactuarina

Also I have no idea how I even got this I went inside the Closed Bodehm AF 3 and just outside a treasure sphere ((the one in the water I tossed my mog with Improved Mog Throw which sent him into the deep water when he came back I recieved a Cactuarina Crystal)) so if you want this I suggest getting Mog Throw + and toss him as much as possible in Bodehm AF 3 :D

Edit so I'm returning the favor heres a Youtube Video of someone getting the Crystal

There are actually more of such secret monster crystals. About 8 of them in total. They are located in fixed but not-so-obvious locations, such as the pier in the case of cactuarina above.

One particularly very powerful secret monster is in the archylte steppe.
Throw Mog at a flower bush a few times, and you will get Chichu, arguably the best commando in the game.

Hmm I'll be sure to look out for him then :O Always want a kickass Commando on my team for a all out offensive on a Staggering opponent.

I'm wondering there is a Silver chocobo hidden in the game so I wonder if there is a Gold Chocobo, I say this because if theres silver there has to be a gold, and found a gold chocobo figurine while tossing mog every chance I get... -cough-moogleabuse-cough-

I'm praying the Silver Choco is a damn good racer ~.~

you get the silver one by tossing the moogle at a green ball like projection at the tower place during chapter 4, it a SAB,

yes their is a gold one as well it a SEN...

basically the color of it will show the role it is, one for each role, red = COM, green = MED etc etc

but i do feel sorry for the moogle XD

Ok I have a question to ask about the chocobos. Since they come in so many different colors and you can catch them for this variety, my question is can you catch multiple of the same color? Or do their color rule apply to the same rule as regular monsters and can only catch one of each color?

Stevie lies, the Gold Chocobo is a Commando and it's arguably one of the best commandos you can get :mokken:

As for chocobo races, I found Silver is better for Stamina and Gold is better for Speed, least based on when I sent them in. I would highly suggest using Silver as your main Sentinel, it gets HP very fast.

I'd say it depends on the monster's role, if you have a Sentinel focus on HP but on a Commando, focus strength etc.

I see then I'll try to find the gold as well then if its the best commando in the game I'll try to add it to my party :D

Same rule. You can have multiple colors of chocobos, but you can only have one chocobo of the same color at one time.

xAaronx
You are good at speculations :O
As the others said, there are gold and silver chocobos in the game. The silver chocobo is arguably the best for racing. But to make it even better, you have to 'breed' it by infusing other monsters to get racing abilities.

Anyway, if anyone wants to find more of the secret monsters without randomly tossing Mog, here are the locations of most of them:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TZMMSfAQgaQ&feature=related

The Japanese version probably has different locations for these monsters as the overseas version. So the video may not be too accurate. I also heard that there are additional secret monsters in the English version.

I do agree there on the Silver Chocobo being one of the best for racing, Gold has better initial speed but it's stamina lets it down, Silver is much more well rounded.

Correct me if i'm wrong but does Strength impact speed and HP impact stamina? It's what i've always assumed.
