As a part of Sony’s Tokyo Game Show Play Live series, FINAL FANTASY XIII-2 producer Yoshinori Kitase had a few moments to share some new details.

Much like the Gold Saucer in FINAL FANTASY VII, you’ll be able to enter an amusement part of sorts. Inside will be a casino with slots, chocobo racing, and a great number of mini-games.

The story of XIII-2 will be broken up into six chapters.

As for DLC, it will be released sometime after the game proper, and will include items such as new costumes, weapons, and added monsters.

EDIT:

Final Fantasy XIII-2 producer Yoshinori Kitase was in the hot seat this afternoon for Sony's "Play Live" talk sessions at the Tokyo Game Show. Kitase revealed a number of new bits about the upcoming sequel.

Famitsu.com mentioned two points in its summary. First off, the game will have an amusement center packed with mini games like Chocobo races and a casino.

Kitase also provided hints at what kind of post release download content to expect from the game. We can look forward to additional costumes and weapons, and monster downloads. Regarding the DLC, Kitase assured that players will find the content on the disc fulfilling, but the download content will allow for even longer play.

Similar to the Akihiro Hino segment, Kitase finished off by scribbling a message on a PlayStation Vita poster.

Kitase's message was "Let's meet in X," in reference to the Final Fantasy X remake that was announced for PS3 and Vita earlier in the week. No details have been shared since the announcement.

Well it's not really gold saucer, but something similar. I am guessing it's Nautilus from the past or something.

I think it will be lots of fun spending time playing the mini games and chocobo racing in that place. If anything, even if the story, characters and battle system of XIII-2 sucks, it will at least be the ideal fun FF with lots of sidequests, exploration, mini games and fan service, IMO.

Oh and don't assume that 6 chapters are short yet. Each chapter may be much longer than chapters in the original XIII. Besides, the latest demo shows that the Bresha Ruins event is 'episode 2'. Although we are not sure that episodes = chapters in this game, it can also mean that there are many episodes in each chapter. Just speculating.

DLCs sound good for now, with the costumes and stuff.

So basically, what Nautilus should have been but wasn't? :mokken:

Not that I can complain that it's finally put in, just wish it wasn't made to resemble FF7, the only thing that's changed is the addition of a casino, which is something every other RPG is including these days anyway :hmmm: Two Worlds 2, Fallout New Vegas, Enchanted Arms etc.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't intrigued by the return of Chocobo Races, I just hope we don't ride the bulky ones, they didn't feel very speedy, I hope we can expect some serious speed in the races, like the chocobos in FF10 in that FMV in Mi'ihen :ohoho:

Omg Alternate costumes in the DLC forget the weapons and the side story Im all in for the costumes, then again wont matter if the people i want to play with are a npc now does it :x guess I gotta wait closer till the games release to decide of like the idea or not.

As for the amusement park I have to agree with it being nautilus, so Im sure if not a new location then nautilus will be our mini game area, I dont really care about the chocobo racing but Im a fan of the slot machines and las vegas style casino attractions myself good way to make mone yin any videogame :wacky:

Hopefully it will be long chapters, I would hope its just as long as FFX-2 especially since we have percentage progress and new game plus + doffierent paths Im expecting it to be somewhat like FFX-2 so I think ill be satisfied.

Six chapters sounds very short. Square Enix already confirmed it is shorter than Final Fantasy XIII anyway. It is to be expected, if you are not doing alternate things. I will have a go at the story, and then 100% the game. Nautilus from the past? Well if chocobo racing is part of the 100% I am going for then... yeah. In terms of length it must be like X-2. I am excited that DLC will make the game longer, but really it should have been in the final product. Additional costumes? How exciting..

The golden saucer-esque minigames sound entertaing, but as for DLC.... Costumes?? What'll they be?? Serah with a stripper pole? Noel with a pimp cane and suit? If they add some more story, I'll be pretty happy though....

Maybe Square has done some real changes???

When you can't think of an original, proper minigame, just throw a casino in there and hope that the rest will sort itself out. They could have at least made an effort, instead of stealing yet another mechanic from FFVII...

The story of XIII-2 will be broken up into six chapters.
Mercifully short, then. Perhaps 20 hours in that, assuming these are more or less the same length as the vague chapters in FFXIII.

As for DLC, it will be released sometime after the game proper, and will include items such as new costumes, weapons, and added monsters.
Stuff that should have already been in the game, in other words. I don't know where they get off releasing this stuff as extras and expecting the fans to PAY for it, when they've already shelled out a ridiculous amount of money on the disc itself.

Kitase's message was "Let's meet in X," in reference to the Final Fantasy X port that was announced for PS3 and Vita earlier in the week. No details have been shared since the announcement.
Fixed. For crying out loud, I wish people would learn the difference between a remake and a port. You can't bring a game out on a different console with marginally updated graphics and call it a freakin' remake.

I wonder if that means we're going to see some FFX costumes released as DLC, though. If that were to be the case, then they had better release a Cloud costume for Lightning as well.
