A lovely speech, it would be great if you were running for president or senator or something like that.
Martin Luther King wanted his kids to grow up in a society where they wouldn't be judged by the colour of their skin. More than 40 years later, Martin is dead and racism is still prevalent. Perhaps if everyone really believed in change then things would get done. But they'd disagree about what should be changed and nothing would get done.
I also find it interesting that an American should go on about how his country is extremely democratic. A country where you need to be filthy rich to run for office. Where the NRA and all their billions of dollars keep it legal to buy assualt weapons for hunting. There are also countless other lobby groups. You have to buy change.
You don't have to be rich to make change. I subscribe to three seperate charitys with little money. At the end of each month (for the last 4 years) I have money sent to fundraisers dealing with enviormental protection, poverty in africa, and disaster relief fondations. On top of the I teach children in a country where english is not so prevalant within its own people yet. You see change is in the eye of the beholder.
And racism had gotten about a million times better in America I think. No change comes fast, but it has to START... to come at all. And the beauty of everyone owning guns is that once the government decides to fuck up something fierce, at least the people are armed with the power to rise up. I don't think many people consider this anymore though, because citizens if anything have become pets in America, sitting on the sidelines defending a lot of the bullshit thats spun.
Sure the rich person may be the only one who can enter politics, but once they are in office they also have to seek aprovement from the general public based on their actions if they wish to stay in office... and this is where citizens of countries like America are slipping. Its easy for a jackass to stay in office when there are so many ignorant people who don't care or say...."thats the way it is." The citizens are not putting on the pressure for change in the correct means, just as they are only concerned with staying in office, as are we just focused on the short term. People are not reading between the lines, they just watch political debates and decide between the two. I think one day "being" in office, will be accompanied by the pressure of positive change, not just greedy change.
All morality is subjective. I don't think this is immoral, it's capitalism baby. Hustler are exploiting all the controversy to make some money. Exploiting something to make money is pretty much how capitalism work. If you share some of Milton Friedman's views vis-a-vis economics, you could claim that it would be 'immoral' to not pay Casey Anthony to get naked. They have a duty to their shareholders to make as much money as possible.
And this is what I don't like, even though I can not change it, this is what the rant is about. I dislike the fact that "good business", has sunk even to the level of taking advatage of an abandoned murdered child for perverts, and I'm sorry if that makes me sound stupid, but I think it sounds like sane thinking. I am disappointed to see how few people agree with that. Whether the woman commited the crime or not, this is the reason they want her, and the fact that they WILL profit... just seems shameful to me. Call me old fashion I guess.
