Did any of you girls ever read this series when you were younger?
I found one of my old BSC books in my room a few weeks ago (Kristy and the Mother's Day Surprise) and decided to give it a read. I never realized how bad the books were written XD
First of all, that damn chapter 2 where they describe everyone's family in great detail.
Second, the stereotypes. Basically, it is unlikely that all these girls would be friends in real life.
Third, Claudia's outfits always get described in great detail. We are supposed to think she is cool and artsy when in reality, she sounds like a schizophrenic.
And some more fun things I noticed.
If you are in the BSC, do not ever get a hobby outside of the BSC or the entire club will shun you until you come crawling back apologizing.
All the parents in Stoneybrook are incompetent and stupid. Espeically Mr and Mrs Pike who neglect their children in favor of their eleven year old daughter to raise the seven other children. I mean, they don't expect their ten year old to clean up a spilled drink, the 11 year old must do it.
Diabetes is the equivelant of having aids
13 year olds run Stoneybrook! It's a fact. The BSC will also butt into anyone's life when they deam it is appropriate.
Why do the authors always pick on Mallory? We always get a description of how ugly she is. And she was always my favorite member XD
Dawn, she's UNIQUE! And don't you forget that!
Jessie is black and we will be reminded of that several times throughout the book.
Would you trust your children with an 11 year old for a few hours?
In Stoneybrook there is a time freeze where everyone remains their age for approximately 15 years. Also 13 years olds act like 18 year old and 11 year old like 17 year olds.
But I can't help but loving the series because I read many of the books as a child XD. I think I stopped around the time when Dawn left for good. I read a few books with Abby but not too far into them. I think I was getting too old for the BSC by the time she came around.
Here is something to enjoy for nostalgia
