Apparently, you take a pill once every 3 months and it gets rid of the digestive enzyme on the acrosome. It's not like you're shooting blanks, just little squigglies whjo cant break through the the zoma.

Personally, I would feel like half a man. There is also no fucking chance in hell that I would ever want to cripple my warriors.

Would be nice if you have a link of a article thats supporting the subject...I never heard anything about this type of birth control, it sounds spooky as hell :O
I leave the pills for the woman :griin:

Yes our spartans must stay intact an not be tainted by this filth ..perhaps the side effects WOULD BE shooting blanks when using the goods on a long term basis.

I'd actually be up for this.
I have 2 kids now, both have defied all kinds of contraceptive I know about (except for the female injection) and I DEFINITELY do not want any more than two children.

Apparently though they don't let young guys like me get sterilised, as we're basically "too young to understand the implications of what we're doing".
Yeah, I get it. If me and my partner ever split up and I wanted more kids, I'd be screwed.
But to be honest, even if we did break up, I'd still have two kids. It's not like I'd suddenly stop being their father. Why would I want even more?

Why would taking this drug cause problems long term? It (apparently) does nothing to the sperm except stop production of the enzyme that allows the sperm to break down the cell wall around the egg. So motility, sperm count, all of that remains unchanged. Thus, if you stop taking it, the enzyme starts being produced again, and voila, you're locked and loaded. It's no different than a woman on birth control. It modifies things, but if you go off it, you're right back to normal after a period of time.

The hypermasculine macho "my sexual prowess and ability to procreate defines me as a man" crap is...... well..... crap.

Lol I asked for a link to a article to back this up..I dont believe something a dude said on the interwebz blindly :gasp:

I need to read about this myself... also the human body sure is mysterious ;p
nothing happens without a reason imo and there are no such things as coincidences, every cell can mutate onde day and maybe those enzymes wont return you never know that.

You talk like you know its 100% accurate or something...nothing is for certain.

Risks.. maybe you end up having dried up balls until you shoot dust by this thing, you dont know that MISTER BOSS MAN/MAGICAL MOD TRIPLE T

:mokken:

That's why I said "(apparently)."

I'm just amazed that the first problem/concern people (men) jump to is that it'll decrease their ability to procreate, which somehow throws their masculinity into question. It's a very archaic mindset.

And you're right, nothing is for certain. So why would you worry about something that hasn't been shown to be an issue?

Why is this? Is it just a personal self esteem issue or a projection from women? Women don't care about sperm as long as it's either doing or not doing the job right. Nice chest, sure, eyes, hair and arms.. I've never once heard a woman say "He had such strong, manly Sperm."

The hypermasculine macho "my sexual prowess and ability to procreate defines me as a man" crap is...... well..... crap.

exactly.

It might be the same as the injection. A lot of women don't just 'go back to normal' and while I've been on it I've been warned about the complications and possible side effects of infertility the longer I stay on it (no more than a few years). Besides.. this is new, right? There's BOUND to be some side effects long term that they haven't anticipated.

HUBBA WHA?!?

Weird. I'm not sure if I'd want my guy taking this. but hey, at least it's fair now.

they should be handing these pills out at high schools.

...i would personally love to take them, could rawdog it with no worries.

I don't have a link, I read it somewhere in the IRL world. Look it up if you want to read this shit so badly.

Also: pausing egg production vs genetically altering sperm
What sounds more fucked to you? Which sounds like it could potentially have a lasting effect? Males don't have the same reproductive cycle as women. I can produce my half of the tango any day of the week. Women have a small window each month.

New drug? No thanks. For a little bit of convenience, I don't want to submit my body to a sudden influx of some foreign chemical. Too risky since its long-term effects are yet to be shown (in addition to its effectiveness in the short-term as well).

It's not genetically altering. It's pausing production of the enzyme. That's like saying taking a serotonin inhibitor or MAOI is a genetics altering drug. It's not.

It's not just one pill. They aren't going to make just one pill for everyone. There are a hundred different types of male contraceptive pills being tested and they're all using different techniques.
Like, one probably does what the article said, others alter the production of sperm, others block hormone and enzyme production, and others block totally random shit. Some also probably make you stop ejaculating completely.

sounds a bit ropey like but when the alternative is ending up with a child il alwyas take option1 :gasp:

Assuming this is true. Why would it make a person feel less of a man? How is it making any difference? Surely it would be preferable to minu me's populating the earth, and all you have to do is stop taking it to stop the effects? Does this make me half a woman altering my horomones taking the pill to not get pregnant? Makes me fucking more sensible than those thick cunts that are like huuurrrrrr i accidetnalyl got pregnant. Well, were you using somnething? Nope. WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU EXPECT!?

I cant say Id take it on face value if I had a bloke and he was like, im on the pill! I dont think I'd feel comfortable trusting someone else with that responsinilty, oh shit honey, i forgot to take my pill! Its me thats gunna have to go through the stresses of getting rid. So I'd either use it along side my own contraception, as back up, incase mine failed for whatever reason illness/other meds etc

All this is assuming the fisrst post is true of course

And it's a very immature stance to take thinking it would make you feel less than a man

It's ok for us women to pump ourselves full of hormones though, huh? :dave:

Holy shit, let it go. I was fucking around when I made that "half a man" comment. Any guy who cares about what some nobody female thinks of their junk doesn't even deserve to be half a man.

No...all you can take from what I said is that if I were a girl I wouldn't pump hormones into my body. It's more of an idiosyncratic preference for my aversion to popping pills rather than saying it's a guy thing. I'm sure guys left and right will be willing to take man-birth-control.

Plus we've figured the good and bad of birth control at this point. This new man pill has still got a lot of unkowns yet to be found.

I'd pump myself with allsorts as long as it stops me getting pregnant :wacky:

I should just go get my tubes tied :lew:

Was merely replying the comment, that's all. It's the sleeping forest, and I know there are likely to be some half brained idiots that probably think like that, I know not to read to much into your posts, but I thought it was an interesting comment to respond to, non-the less :dave:

The way I see it, it's another choice of sexual contraceptive. The only difference being that this applies to men instead of women. Being able to have another safe alternative to condoms, which have more flaws due to manufacturing, is never a bad thing. If I was in my early 20's, I'd consider taking something like this, but at that point in life now that I'm ready for kids. Maybe not 100% ready, but close enough to make the living situation feasible. :ryan:

Though I would be weary for the time being because it's still a new idea that requires some trial and error. I'd rather not take something brand new, just to find out that the side-effects are far worse than an unplanned pregnancy. :lew:

The pill can cause a woman's blood pressure to sky rocket and for her to have major possibly fatal blood clots. I'd say that's more fucked up XD

I do wonder about the long term affects of this. and I would worry that if one of these sperm happened to break through and fertilized the egg, what consequences would that have for the child?

And too the person that wondered about having a vasectomy and breaking up and being with another girl. If that were to happen, the new girl might want a child with you or just her own children in general. And there could also be a jealousy factor with her with your kids, but I guess you wouldn't be in a relationship with a woman like that XD and vasectomies can be reversed so it's not like it has to be permanent.
