Seriously this might sound like an incredibly stupid and beginner question, but how does one use Lulu's overdrive? I don't get it. I've tried everything with my joystick, tried spinning the analog sticks, the directional buttons, pressing X and other buttons whilst doing so and still nothing.
Thanks in advance.

Is there something wrong with your controller?
All you have to do is spin the right analog stick around in circles. May have to be clockwise, I'm not sure.

Yup Dishy is right, I also do the left analog stick as well clockwise ;p
If I do both at the same time it always works for me..
TBH I always disliked Lulu's overdrive, on my save it wasnt effective at all.

So it's just the right analog stick, possibly clockwise? OK thanks. I'll have to try that the next time. Maybe because I was pressing the other stuff whilst doing it it might've not worked. But I am fairly sure the joystick is fine.

You take the Index finger and your Middle finger, place them on top of the Right analog stick and rotate it clockwise as fast as you can with out it not touching the circular edge of the Joystick assembly.

As fast as you can.

That works, though I prefer using the palm of my hand on it. I put the controller on my right leg, move the left joystick out of the way, and then move my palm in small circles to move the joystick really fast. :hmmm:

And it should still work if you're pushing the left joystick away, I always do. xD

OK so I tried and it worked. Thanks loads guys and girls. Though after 3 cycles it kinda got hard and the bar wouldn't budge any more. Not one of the best overdrives, that's for sure.

yh lulu's overdrive is very hard to get out :/

the best overdrives is wakka , (attack rells does epic damage)

auron, (ace damage)

yuna, i owned jecht with amina overdrive :P

Don't feel too bad I could never figure out her Overdrive either. I may have to try this next time I play Final Fantasy X. It better be worth it considering she has the hardest Overdrive to perform in the whole game, from what I remember.

lulu not that a good character best thing to do in ffx

you know the black magic spheres you start getting...... use them to teach yuna black magic :)

with black magic yuna is ten times better than lulu due to the fact that yuna is a white mage therefore she has a higher magic status

Interesting strategy, but I do remember (vaguely, I'll admit) that Lulu had higher base magic stats than Yuna. Yuna's strength comes from summoning - otherwise, she's not that powerful.
Obviously, switching sphere grid paths would change that problem if you really didn't want to use Lulu, but would be really time consuming, so why bother?

The only bad thing about Lulu is her overdrive, and it's still not that bad. I tend to find that the higher level the spell is, the less rotations of the analog stick the game will acknowledge.
She's still a great mage, and in fact my Lulu kicked butt for a large portion of the game. Rather than relying on her overdrive to increase her usefulness/damage output, try teaching her Doublecast coupled with an MP-conserving ability, like Half MP or something (two spells for the price of one).
If you also have Break Damage Limit, then there you go.

I was thinking the same thing, Dishy. I started a new game to check but gave up rather quickly, ha. I may start a new file anyhow, just to test to see how useful yuna/wakka/tidus would be, rather than Lulu/wakka/tidus, yknow?

yuna needs the high magic stat from her white magic... i can do 9999 with firaga and that from after the calmlands

flare does way more

Found something interesting, just clarifies exactly how Lulu's overdrive works -

"Lulu's overdrive is called Fury, and when activated you must choose one black magic ability that will be cast many times. Any black magic spell can be used, and the process does not require any MP. You then have 4 seconds to rotate as many times as possible, with the amount of spells that will be cast building up as you rotate it. More powerful spells require more rotations to add an extra spell to the counter, and a higher magic stat reduces the number of rotations required to add an extra spell to the counter. The spells are cast randomly against the enemies at half normal casting strength. An enemy can be hit multiple times (although it will not be hit any more if it dies, so your spells aren't wasted), and the total damage of all the spells that hit it (rather than each spell individually) determines an overkill." - StrategyWiki

As for Yuna, I never used her for offensive magic, so I couldn't say for sure. I also never power-levelled or maxed out anyone - the stats I am talking about are from what I kind of remember at the start of the game - so I guess it is quite possible that Yuna's Magic stat overshadows Lulu's later in the game.

Yeah interesting idea, but I think I'd prefer to keep Yuna as a summoner/white mage, because I like to find some use for every character. Although too bad Kimahri isn't particularly good against any enemy types, so he's probably my least used character.

you can still use her as a white mage..... she just owns as well :)

I meant that if I use Yuna as a black mage too and she is better, then Lulu would become useless.
