Uhhh... if i'm reading your post right what you mean is why do they have online Final Fantasies? (XI and upcoming XIV) :wacky: hard to understand

Anyways, you say why don't they just leave them as they are? I must say I was a bit confused as well. After I had completed X I was so looking forward to the next one... only to find it was online (and at the time) I didn't have online capabilities.

I can't say that just because its online it'll be a bad game but I get what your saying when you say it's better the way it was.

I think it's something different in the series and maybe will attract more people. There is those that like online games and so maybe they'll end up gettting XIV because it is online.

I'm not sure if i'll get XIV tbh :hmmm: We'll see. :monster:

To cut the long story short - SE thought it would be a better idea to make a brand new MMORPG rather than doing a more difficult and dull job of updating the FFXI for the current HD consoles such as the PS3 (though the 360 has it already). FFXIII was never meant to be online - because it's a single player RPG. And yes, people will have to pay monthly for FFXIV. SE isn't that generous.

Good luck with that. I'm sure there is a contact, but you won't get on to the top executives of Square Enix. Anyway, I doubt SE will pay any attention anyway. They mostly have their own agenda.

i mean final fantasy 7 8 and and most of the others were online my openion only here that is though and my neightbours av agreed the same thing as they alsohave played all the others apart from the last online ff game and now they want to do this 2 ff 14 i cant understand it.

What? You mean offline, surely? Only FFXI and FFXIV are online. Sorry, but I'm just having trouble deciphering what you are saying. Besides, it's no real loss if FFXIV is online and I don't see why you're despairing about it. There's always Versus, Agito - then the inevitable FFXV.

So... are you complaining that FFXIII isn't online? Or that it isn't similar to the older Final Fantasys?

why is this online only and ff 13 isnt that will now mean people will have 2 pay 4 this 1 they did it with ff11

Why would they make FFXIII online, and then make another online game (FFXIV)? People are still playing on FFXI, so surely two online games in a row would be quite pointless.

Of course Square Enix is going to charge for an online game. I don't see why they wouldn't.

Every other Final Fantasy already released except FFXI was single player, so I'm not exactly sure what you're on about.

If you're disappointed that FFXIV is going to be online, then you shouldn't worry too much. Square Enix have got many single player projects in the works, and as was previously said, the inevitable FFXV.

thats what i am saying i wouldent pay to play the next ff game online ill just carry on as im doing now with ff 13 4 the time being then get final fantasy x1v squaresoft make enough money we buy all their games i mean the next 1 will be around 40 quid then u av to pay a monthly fee probaly on top of that. if it was free that would be a diffrent matter

It's profitable. As you'll know, SquareEnix are a company like any other, their main objective is to gain as much profit as they possibly can and if that means making people pay monthly fees then they aren't bothered, it's more income for them. Plus, one would presume that since Final Fantasy XIV is going to be a MMORPG then Final Fantasy XI must have been successful so there would be no reason to change.

Remember also that a large budget has gone into making FFXIV. Look at the FMVs they have produced so far and the impressive visuals of Eorzea - they were not cheap at all to make. Plus, an MMORPG in the scale of FFXIV would be very costly to maintain. So to make actual profit, SE would need to charge players monthly. How high they make it is completely up to them. At the end of the day as Cid Raines said, they want to make money. The more money, the better. There are some MMOs considered "free" - though no MMO is truly free.

If you don't want to pay monthly to pay FFXIV then that's absolutely fine. I don't either. You can simply not get the game and wait for the offline ones such as Versus and the inevitable FFXV. SE hasn't sold Final Fantasy to the online market. Only FFXI and FFXIV.

only to find it was online (and at the time) I didn't have online capabilities.

I don't think anybody did. It was a terrible PR move from Square and it showed that they didnt care for the numerical value of the series and what it meant to the fans.

I didnt own nor play 11 yet I feel like theres a gaping hole in the series' aesthetic value.
