It seems that as soon as Final Fantasy XIII released, the hype train at Square Enix began for Final Fantasy Versus XIII. In a Japanese magazine interview, Nomura has been detailing Final Fantasy Versus XIII, and things are looking promising:

- The in game graphics have been upgraded, so much so that there is no real difference between the CGI and the graphics in game.

- More detailed information regarding the development of Agito XIII and Versus XIII to come in early 2010.

- This is a dark Final Fantasy as everyone expected.

- Nomura confirms steady development on another title, but hasn't confirmed what it is (see info on that statement here).

A lot to look forward to for the PS3 fans.

Then why not scrap CGI all together and render everything in real time?

I don't get it. They keep saying that the Crystal Tools engine is able to render CGI-quality graphics in real time, yet the PS3 version of FF XIII got shipped with something like 30gb worth of pre-rendered FMVs. :P

I'm a little sceptical towards that as things hardly ever turn out to be what is envisaged- but it does sound really promising. Also, a bit of downgrading is needed if there are any plans to put it on Xbox 360- which would be a stupid idea. So I don't see it losing its PS3 exclusivity if this is true.

After a drought of information regarding the other Fabula Nova Crystallis titles lately, it's about time! Agito is the game I'm rather curious about as well.

This aspect is really exciting me. I nearly did cry at the end of FFX, hopefully Versus XIII will have a bigger impact on me.

I don't think it'll be made on the 360, there's not a chance in hell it could cope if the in-game graphics are anything like CGI ones. They had to strip 15GB off the 360 version of FFXIII just to cope with the CGIs and even then they're downgraded compared to the PS3 version. This is one set to remain exclusive methinks. :ryan:

You do realise that Versus XIII is still being made utilizing the Crystal Tools engine, a graphics engine made for multiplatform development, right? Nomura is just hyping his game here. Versus won't look remarkably better than XIII does.

Regardless of the engine, it wouldn't change the fact that the 360 cannot hold the same level of graphics the PS3 can within a reasonable amount of disks. FFXIII proved this. We'll just have to see the difference between in-game graphics and CGIs when videos are released :monster:

The actual FF XIII game only takes up 8 gb and that's well within the limits of what you can fit onto a reasonable number of DVDs without any trouble. The problem is all the pre-rendered CGI which takes up much more space than raw data. Pre-rendered CGI is just that: pre-rendered. It is not actually being rendered by your console, but just beeing played as you would any DVD or Blue-ray movie. It all comes down to storage space of the format and it has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with the graphics capabilities of either console.

o woow oh wooow! if tht is soo then im gonna burn all the cutscenes together and watch it as a movie! *boogie dancing*

Although I won't play FFXIV (unless I can play for free after buying it the first time *laughs*) the promise of Versus, and even Agito, has appeased me well enough.

I admit that Versus had my attention more than FFXIII a while back, but the lacking info made me shift my focus onto FFXIII, but I'm excited to hear more about Versus now.

I do love my graphics, so the idea of Versus being more or less in CGI the whole time (is that what Nomura's saying?) defintely makes me happy, but more than anything, I wonder what Nomura means by "dark Final Fantasy".

As evil as it sounds, I half want to see Noctis die. Tidus from FFX almost managed to break the happliy-ever-after mold, but then FFX-2 came out :ffs:

I've heard that aside from Nomura, that other members of the Kingdom Hearts team is working on Versus, and I love KH, so I'm excited to see what the outcome of them working on an FF game will be. If nothing else, Yoko Shimomura is doing the music, which is epic right there :awesome:

EARLY 2010?! Does that mean that ff13v will actually come out this year?! (Basically this year anyway...) Does this mean that it's finally within reach?!

Eh, I wouldn't expect it to come out this year. They'll probably just have a few more trailers and possibly reveal some of the story. A demo will be released in Japan sometime around next Christmas, and I'm thinking the game will be early 2011 for Japan and mid 2011 for us. Just my thoughts, though.

No way Versus is coming early 2010..pff..impossible ;p
FF13 Versus better be 5 times better on all levels then FF13 , KH battlesystem ftw!

Oh I have to read better lol before posting :P

He obviously just means that the characters look the same in CGI and realtime. If the realtime graphics actually matched the CGI graphics in terms of quality then either the CGI graphics are mundane or the game has been ported to playstation 4.
